| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Demigods would be a small group of 3 to 4 immortals who rule over a common category. They would be much weaker than the actual gods and have to share a shrine, a smaller version of a temple. They would get the following bonuses: a unique spell/power, moderation over their shrine area, 50 gold a week, and possibly more. They would not get a group of Chosen, access to the Inner Room of the Temple of Unity (soon to be added), creation of their own temple, and a few other limitations. The demigod positions would be (More may be added at a later time, or some even removed completely): Shrine of Inspiration:
Shrine of Season:
Shrine of the Four Winds:
Shrine of Magical Beasts:
What do you think? Should there be demigods or not? Let me know your opinions on the matter.

Question: would they still be able to be a god's chosen? Cause one of my goals is to be Lomen's Chosen. |

I voted no based on a gut instinct. My personal opinion is that the current system of having a direct differentiation between gods and mortals appears to be best fitted for the current Imythess atmosphere. The Knights of Imythess act as an effective "middle ground" between common player and high-ranked administrator so the best I could see is a rename of the title. Judging by the overall number of posts within Imythess temples, there is not enough RP demand to warrent additional positions of "higher powers." The majority of recent posts in temples have primarily been about becoming a chosen or dealing with a prestige class. While I do not discount the posts that are true RPs between mortal and immortal, I believe that, at least as currently designed, the demigods would not add much in this respect. Now, I can agree that perhaps moderators could be moved over to take over some of these positions (after a little in-fighting to figure out who gets any competitive spots) to give them a more immersive role in the world of Imythess. This is basically the only current existing position that has no tie to RP and it might be nice to smooth out that bump. Moderators would have the same powers (give or take) as demigods anyway, so I do not see much of a problem. To finalize, this is just a gut instinct of mine. I can say in all honesty that I see both success and failure with this idea, and this will not be determined until it is tried. I can definately see this in the future when the overall active playerbase increases and the new website adds a lot more history to the world, but right now I just cannot say. |

Putting my greed aside, not an easy task, I think Sargoth has a point. all of the demigod postion for inspiration are little different and the four winds are totaly underscored by Ciara. |

Ya, obviously. But it's already stated that demigods are "weaker" than gods. |

Thank you for repeating your self. My point was the demigods of wind, which I beive your comment reffers to, is that there would be little diffrence between them. They would be Ciara's mini-mes. That would be an interesting bit for her elite though. |

Well......I repeated myself "MR. PERFECT", because I knew you probably wouldn't read an answer to one question from a post above it.... <_< Secondly, the Watch Towers of the Four Winds are supposedly sacred in some way, and each have their own difference. Being a small part Wiccan, it was stated that each of the four winds were actually an element. Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. But none of you guys would know about that.... And lastly, I have new Demigod ideas thanks to my friend. Shrine of the Astral Plane: - Dreams - Illusions - Time Please do not hate, cooperate. I think these are great ideas, whether any of you do or not. |

Laoura has started this poll to hear both positive and negative opinions about this possible addition. You are obviously all for the idea and that is fine. I have indeed heard of the Four Winds and their elemental relationships, but if you will notice, there are current Gods for Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth in some form or another. My primary dissent, and what Ace has been speaking about, regards the fact that there is no reason to thin out these "powers" from current Gods who hardly have enough RPers interested in visiting the temples as it is. It is not so much about the literal displacement of physical power, but a dilution of already limited roleplay. To give you a more current example now that this topic has been made popular, your new ideas regarding the Shrine of the Astral Plane can easily be attributed to the current Goddess of Deception, at the very least. I have already offered my idea that perhaps the Knights of Imythess could assume these minor roles just for the sake of being more IC, but Ace too has mentioned that they could just be attributed abilities of each current Gods'/Goddesses' Chosen. I would hate to see anyone simply bash this idea without constructive criticism, but so long as there is logic behind the argument (either for or against), this should be an open forum for it to be discussed rationally. Again, I voted no based off of a gut instinct, but it still might just work out very well. |

Ya, you obviously have a good reason for your oppinion too. I'm not completely dissing you sillies. And you know...if atleast half the gods were able to actually rp nicely.....more people would want to rp with them. Not to mention, I think it's better if the gods put themselves in the middle of peoples rps. In anctient greece, rome and what not....the gods were all up in mortal's bussiness! |

*Looks above* Now that is definately something worthy of talking about, Artemis. You brought up an important point that might just be a big topic sooner or later. On an unrelated note regarding the Greek and Roman gods... look how that turned out ;). |

I voted no. I am not exactly sure why, it is just a gut feeling I have and I usually listen to that feeling or bad things happen, lol. |
