Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Thanius, this is the scroll I wrote you about in my last letter. I fear they are about to find me, so I hope this reaches you in one piece. Do not worry about me, my friend, just try to translate this scroll and succeed where I failed. This is the only sheet that I can send you, the rest have already been lost in the library that fell to enemy hands two nights ago. I hope this provides something useful to you.

Yours in Death,
Violle

Code of the Four Winds

Here written rests the Code of the Four Winds, documented upon this parchment so that it may remain in the hands of the mortal land. Representatives have been gathered from the four points in order to agree upon the code that has been scribed within to act as the unified treaty for actions taken by those gifted with the planar powers of Imythess. The writer aknowledges the presence of all required sentient rulers as stated in the Decree of the Elementals, which dates this gathering exactly two mortal years following the edict. This shall act as the only copy of the document gifted to the mortal realm regarding this manner, agreed upon by all members of the present council. The Code of the Four Winds dictates the required actions of any sentient, gifted mortal who is granted powers of natural processes, specifically that of the weather.

Firstly declared are the mandates of respect of powers granted and forces behind that gift. Mortals not showing direct subservience in either mind, action, heart, or a combination, will be subject to reprimand until such respect is learned.

Secondly declared are the mandates of intent of use of powers granted. Those mortals who use powers granted to directly destroy natural processes on a large scale will be subject to reprimand and possible removal of powers. Those who specifically interrupt the natural process driving their own powers on a large scale will be immediately dealt with by the affected ruler.

Thirdly declared are the mandates of self-sacrifice of those gifted with powers over an elemental process. Any mortal who is summoned to repay his or her debt for powers gifted, who does not show willingness to comply, will be subject to reprimand and possible removal of powers. Repeated ignorance of orders issued by the appropriate ruler is a direct violation of the first mandates, resulting in more extreme punishment.

Those mortals found in violation of the Code of the Four Winds are subject to a duel which can occur in two forms.

Type 1: Used for the highest violators, the mortal is matched with the appropriate ruler until two dismemberments or death. Powers are revoked from the mortal before the duel and are never reissued.

Type 2: Typical procedure for normal violators. A chosen gifted mortal is ordered to duel the offending mortal in a match without the aid of their respective powers. The battle continues until the offender has resolved the dispute or until his death. In case of a death of the second chosen mortal, a new duel will be ordered until the offender has been punished appropriately.

Each of the rulers of the Four Winds has marked a respective corner with their symbol for verification of this text.
