| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The sun had just set in the sky when the little bell that hung over the tavern door twinkled as the door opened and then shut... Well not really shut, more along the lines of slammed. Anarela stood poised, a hand still resting on the wood of the door as she observed the occupants of the tavern. Most were men, what a surprise, most of them very drunk, even more of a surprise, and half of them looked as though they hadn’t bathed in months. Within the shadows of her hood her faced twisted in disgust. Cleanliness was one of those things she valued, valued a great deal. She took a moment to wipe clean her face of emotions before she pushed back the hood of her gray cloak. A dull tan scarf covered the lower half of her face, everything from the nose down wasn’t visible. Everything from the nose up, however, was. Her skin looked to be a mix between peach and tan, her eyes a piercing red. Her off white hair was pulled back in a tight braid, a style she favored. She let her gaze sweep over the occupants once more before she strode past them and to an empty table. She slipped out of her cloak and draped it over one of the chairs before taking a seat in another. She crossed her legs and leaned back in her chair with a relaxed air, surveying all those around her. |

Lilith was relaxing by the fireplace when she heard the tavern door open. She expected to see another human man coming in after a late night of working to have a drink and gossip. But what she saw suprised her."Oh my" She muttered to herself.A woman in a cloak with brillant red eyes had sat down at a table. She seemed to be utterly alone.Lilith questioned her presence there but then thought "Well it's not like I fit in here any better." She didn't think the woman had seen her yet.Being only five foot tall and a faerie had that effect on people. Her curiousity got the better of her. She slowly walked to the table as if completely unintrested and paused in front of the woman. "I see you are here by yourself.Did you know that isn't the best idea around these drunken men?I have never come here before myself but tonight I hungered for a nice drink to rid me of my ever pressing thoughts. Ah I have already talked enough.Whose presence do I have the pleasure of being in?" |

Movement near her drew her attention. She shifted her gaze to the creature; a faerie... How interesting. One didn’t normally see a faerie at a tavern. She studied the other as she approached, eyes sharp and scrutinizing. When the girl started to speak she returned her visible attention to watching those around her, appearing uninterested though she listened to the girl’s words. A few moments of silence followed the other’s inquires as she pondered over whether or not to reply. When Anarela finally spoke her voice was slightly muffled by the scarf covering both nose and mouth. “I fear no man, whether drunken or otherwise. Though should they think to trouble me I’d suggest that they be afraid.” She stated, each of her words picked with care. Pausing, she weighed the pros and cons of telling the faerie her name. Hell, it wouldn’t hurt to atleast try and find an ally or two within this city. She straightened in her seat then, with a scraping sound, pushed back her chair and rose in one fluid motion. She studied the girl’s face for a second before extending her hand to her to shake. “Anarela Desamino though most just call me Fox.” |

The woman loomed high above her. She had to stand on tip-toes to look at her. She took her hand and smiled. This woman had a different air about her. She didn't seem to be completly human. But who around here actually was? The woman named Fox seemed very much unlike her. While faeries were happy and cheerful all the time, this woman, of an unknown race, seemed to be very anxious and almost...paranoid.Maybe she was hiding from someone or something. It made Lilith uneasy. But the woman seemed to have a certain need to have a friend here.Everyone can use a friend. "Well Fox you certainly are...tall.May I join you for a drink?" She didn't wait for her to say either way and just sat at the chair opposite Anarela. She really wanted to learn more about this woman. She waved down the barmaid and asked for a mug of ale. "Would you like a mug as well?" She turned to look at Anarela. |

Cheerful she decided, the faerie girl certainly was cheerful. But then, what faerie wasn’t? When the other took a seat so did she. Almost instantly did she return to the position she’d had before; leaning back and legs crossed with a relaxed air. Her gaze turned from the faerie to the barmaid and then back. Did she want ale as well? She mused over the idea for a moment before answering with a shake of her head that sent her braid thumping along her shoulders. “No, a glass of water will be fine.” It would, getting drunk would do her no good right now. And of course, those few times that Anarela drank alcohol she drank enough that she got drunk. “Don’t believe I caught your name faerie,” she commented after another moment of silence. She wouldn’t talk too much, just answer the questions that the other asked and maybe speak one herself. It would help though, if she actually knew the others name. It didn’t help much to just refer to her as girl or faerie. |

The barmaid returned with her drink and she sipped a little before she spoke."I am the faerie Lilith.I guess with all the excitement I forgot to tell my name.Silly me." She smiled at the woman and wondered why her eyes were so red.She also wondered if this person was evil. She decided to use one of her little gifts to figure out if she were evil. "Can you give me a moment to rest my eyes? They have been open far too much." She once again didn't wait for a reply. She really didn't have much patience. She closed her eyes and used concentration to focus on the woman. She still wasn't able to tell what she was for that was a little beyond her gifts but she could definitely tell Anarela wasn't good nor bad.Well at least it was a start. She open her eyes and looked at the woman politely."Your eyes are quite amazing. And your hair is absolutely beautiful." |

Anarela accepted her own drink with a slight nod of thanks. She hooked a finger onto her scarf and pulled it down so that it hung around her neck. One might wonder why she wore the scarf if not to hide some deformity that she didn’t have. The lower half of her face was exactly the same as the upper. Both her hands curled around her glass as she raised it to her lips and sipped from it as she listened to the other. “Lilith, what an interesting name,” she commented when she finally lowered her drink. She had the precise feeling that the other was thinking about her but she didn’t really care. Let the girl—no Lilith, wonder all she like. She didn’t seem to have much patience though, she noted. She would ask some questions and then go right ahead before she was given a reply... Oh well. “Thank you.” She nodded again as though to express her thanks a little more at the compliment. “I find that both stand out too much but I haven’t the heart to change them.” What was this? She was talking more than she had planned on... Much more, she normally didn’t talk at all and when she did answer questions or make comments it was normally with one or two word answers. |

It was always sort of funny to Lilith that people didn't know that faeries have a way of making people feel talkitive. She could see plainly that the Fox was the type to have many secrets and never tell."I've come to the tavern looking for friends.I love to hear the stories of those just passing by.In fact sometimes I think it is why I am here.I protect those in need, I heal those who are hurting, and I listen to those who need to talk.If any of those three will do you any good please feel free to tell me.I know you must be one of those people who keep to theirselves, but I am a faerie and helping is the way of the faerie people." She didn't smile this time. She could sense something was troubling Anarela. |

Anarela had drained her water glass and set it on the table. Her gaze danced over those around her before she found the waitress and with a single movement of her hand, brought her over and got her glass refilled. “Thank you for the offer Lilith, but no thank you." She replied though one group of men had caught her attention. Staying out of their way seemed like the best idea at the moment, all of them being rather drunk and then all of them being armed.... How lovely, weapons held by drunken men that can barely even walk two feet without falling over. “I can protect myself and I’m not wounded,” she added. “And the only story I have to tell is that of my past, and I’d rather keep the past in the past if you don’t mind.” The last part was said bluntly. She hated it being brought up and found it easier just to tell others ahead of time. For the sake of conversation she put in a question. “So Lilith, what brings you here to Imythess?” |
