| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The forest was silent in the cold night air. It was as though nature was holding its breath for something about to happen and Lómen was charged with the strange energy that only filled her on the occasions when she was prowling the night alone. Her keen elven senses were tingling with information all around her as she ran through the forest. The smells and sounds of the forest in slumber made her blood rush. She began to sense a presence in the darkness, one that seemed to be the very darkness itself, feeding on the life around it to keep it whole. She was drawn to it for reasons she was unaware of and could not explain if she was. Closer to the center of the forest she ran, no sound did she make. She came upon a waterfall in the darkness and felt the presence very strongly so she came to a halt. She lurked around the foot of the fall searching for what, she knew not. The noises of the forest were silent here, save for the thunderous roar of the rushing waters. She heard a snap of a twig behind her and whirled around. There behind her stood a tall figure, clothed in a black robe and holding a tall staff. On the end of the staff was a single globe of onyx so black it appeared to suck in the surrounding light. It hurt her eyes to even behold it for it was so dark. The man reached out a thin, boney hand and gripped her tightly around her slender throat. She could not resist him, none could.... Miles away from the fall a large spire stood like a cliff jutting out of the earth. It was like a dark, jagged gash across the sky where no light could enter. It was his dwelling and there now was found the Elf. Black replaced the gold glow of her eyes and she kneeled before the dark master's throne motionless. She was his to command. Her golden chain spilled from her cloak and the Key was visible, a black vortex swirling inside the crystal pegasus. The darkness was like a contagious disease that had infected every aspect of her being. "Go now, do as I bid you." Lómen rose and stood. Her face was gaunt and shallow. "Yes my Lord, as you wish." She bowed swiftly then fled from the spire. Once outside she stopped briefly and found the direction. "The Balance, I must bring it here..." Buried inside, unable to fight for control, the lost Lothlómendil screamed in the back of her mind which now belonged to her master... Countless minutes passed as she ran tirelessly through the forest. She must find her way back to Astapunga Valley, only there could she find the Balance that consmed her controlled thoughts. There were many that she encountered in the hateful forest depths. She cut them all down wether by bow or by the deadly blade she carried with her. Many deserved it, they too had been poisoned by the wizard, yet many did not. Most did not. Her hand distinguished not between friend and foe, for all now were foes to her. She stood in the darkness over the body of a druid, moonlight glinting off of the blade in her hand. It's color was slowly changing from the blue that it was known for to a dark red that was a mirror of the blood it was stained with. She left the blade uncleaned to be a sign for those that crossed her path. A swift death they would surely meet. |

Athiyk had never ventured so far into the woods and noticed a sudden change in everything around her. The magic here seemed to change, as though she could smell the very corrution that had taken the very trees. Again she inhaled and caught the unmistakable scent of bloodshed. The drow woman had to suppress a shudder. She was heavily pregnant now and though Jhael had begged her not to go exploring, she had anyways. The life within her would be a hindrance if she was forced into battle. If battle was forced upon her (and somehow she suspected it would be) she would focus on ranged battles. Her chakram was clipped to her belt, easily in reach and Athiyk kept her hand close to it and the hilts of her scimitars. Erthe stalked ahead, the wolf also sensing the tension and danger in the wood. Her frosty eyes kept scanning the brush suspiciously and frequently paused to sniff the air. When she caught the blood scent, she even whined slightly and looked back to Athiyk. "Its alright, Erthe... Lets keep moving. The sooner we put this forest behind us, the better..." she told her wolven companion. That was when she realized that they were not alone. Erthe began to growl lowly. "Vendui?" Athiyk called hesitantly. |

Lómen's head snapped up at the sound of something moving. She crouched down low to the ground and enhanced her already keen vision with farsight to find the source of the noise. There beyond some brush was a wolf, sniffing and looking for something. It is just a wolf, there is no threat here... she thought to herself. But then there came a voice and a woman emerged from the trees. A cold smile spread slowly across Lómen's face, twisting into a sneer. It was a drow, one of the rare few that dwelt upon the surface. She had never before encountered a Drow but had heard many tales of their cruelty. It would please the master to have a one at his side.... There was a trace of fear or uncertanty in the Drow's voice and Lómen fed off of it like fire did of accelerant oils. She remained crouching for a moment, thinking of her course of action. There was no use in turning herself invisible, the Drow would still be able to see her, unless she remained hidden. She looked up and blinked into the treetops where she stalked her prey, running from branch to branch. Down below her the growling of the wolf could be heard. She drew her bow and searched for a good vantage point to launch the assault. She had a clear view and released her first arrow with the wolf as her target. With the advantage of the wolf out of the way she would stand a better chance one on one against the Drow.... |

Aeacus flew through the air rather slowly, cutting an apple in her hand with a small blade and eating chunks she cut off from the blade. She was flying quite close to the tip of the tree's, and she had a thought to set them on fire, but she was busy with her apple. But as she flew she caught site of a women in the tree's aiming an arrow at a wolf and a pregnant drow. Aeacus didn't care if the pregnant women died or not, but she liked animals better than any human, elf, or drow. Getting out her wizards staff and threw a fire ball at the tree where the girl with the bow and arrow was stationed. The ball skimmed the tip of the tree, setting the leaves on fire instantly. The fire spread quickly down the tree, engulfing the dead leaves and branches and turning them into black ash. Aeacus smiled and evil smile then went to sit in a tree of her own, continueing to eat her apple and watch as the tree burned. |

Just as Lómen released her arrow several flaming branches fell down upon her and knocked her bow aside. The arrow missed and buried itself in the ground to the left of the wolf. Angry, she looked up to search for what had caused her to miss. There, sitting in a tree was a woman. She was no ordinary woman for she had large dragon wings, but there was something familiar about her. Whatever recognition she felt was breif and she quickly forgot. Enraged, she jumped from her position in the tree forgetting about the drow on the ground and drew her blade as she soared through the air. She landed on a branch several meters below the woman and proceeded to climb up after her. "Do not let anyone stop you! Get rid of her then get rid of that drow! Those of their kind that dwell above ground are useless and weak!" The voice rang loudly in her ears and she could do nothing but obey. |

Aeacus watched the women jump to her tree that she was residing in, and was as calm as ever. She did not fear this women, nor anybody, and merely watched as she climbed up, sword in hand. Once the women was in arms lengths Aeacus flew off the branch, staying at the same level but just out of reach. She did this just to spite and annoy this women. Aeacus was also still cutting her apple, appearing completely calm. She was tempted to say something but didn't, but did have it so she could pull out her sword faster than this women had. Aeacus hovered in the air next to the tree, and awaited for what this women would do. |

The woman jumped away continued to eat of her apple. "Do not let her just sit there and stare stupidly at you, destroy her!" came the wizard's voice once more. But Lómen would not play cat and mouse to win this one, it would simply waste time. Angry at the calm of her enemy she forgot about the Drow and her wolf on the ground and concentrated on the other woman. The red glow of her eyes burned like a reflection of the firey anger inside her. Quickly she mumbled the words to a spell then pointed in the woman's direction. "Her!" she shouted vehemently. Drawing together the pent up electricity in the skies there was a flash of light and a clap of thunder. A great bolt of lightning shot down and its destinatioin was Aeacus. |

Aeacus new this spell and sensed the lightening bolt. Quickly she landed on a branch, and since the bolt was meant for her it followed and struck the branch as Aeacus flew out of it's way quickly. The branch cracked and splintered and caught on fire, but it was also falling down towards the women on the branch who wanted so desperetly to kill Aeacus. Aeacus watched and was still calm, thinking this made the women angry. |
