Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Something appeared to be fading within her...her mind couldn't focus anymore, and her lungs felt ready to burst from lack of air. Ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum....her pulse was almost at a deadly rate. A scream erupted as she lay there, clenching herself into a ball. "No. Sorun....I'm not....what you think I am..." All of this she said in a hushed and nearly inaudible voice. "Laron....don't...them. You....you'll....only.....hurt yourself. Urean...I'm....sorry.....I couldn't save you." She could say nothing of her mother and father, as she felt consciousness slipping away, and she wished only to feel Laron against her once more, to hear his gentle voice telling her that it was going to be alright. She had no family, but did not wish to accept Pelor or Laoura as her brother or sister. Simply, she wished for Laron to be there. Suddenly, her vision flickered....

She stood there, back-to-back with Laron, feeling the cool breeze blow her ebony ponytail back. Blue eyes cold, she stared unblinkingly at the enemy: a guard of twenty men that had surrounded them entirely. Laron's sword was steady as his eyes, just as cold, were transfixed on the enemy. It all happened so gracefully, and ever so swift. Black lightning crackled at Varila's fingertips as she ducked in and around the enemy. Lightning flew into the hearts of men upon her bidding, and Laron's fierce sword seemed just as effective. Soon, they had only two left, but found it impossible to hit them. One seemed to be able to teleport, and had soon grabbed hold of Laron. Tears of utter rage streamed down her face as she dodged, using the lightning to keep her distance. She felt well-muscled arms wrap around her own, and then, a sword pierced her left arm. Feeling her nerves go loose in that arm, she let it hang limp and felt herself drifting again....

FLICKER.

She was on the beach, watching Laoura. Her arm pained terribly as she looked down and saw that right on the back of her elbow, she was cut to the bone, and bleeding fast. Fruitlessly, she reached over to grab her cloak, still feeling her chest bleeding, and growing dizzier by the minute. Her pulse was uncomfortably fast as she rolled over so as not to put pressure on her left arm.

Laoura prayed what she did worked. She hoped that she had destroyed what evil that the amulet ad conatined. She went as quickly as she could back to Varila, and noticing the blood, quickened her pace.

Varila's eyes were half-shut as she glared at the pool of blood that had come from her and was about a foot in diameter. Her chest was cold, as if an invisible knife was still stuck there. He would never be there again if she died now, but she felt helpless, like she had when the burly man had been holding her.

With all of the blood it was hard for Laoura to find the initial wound. When she did find it, she swiftly removed her simple belt, throwing aside the scabbards to her knives and sword, and taking the belt, wrapping it tightly around Varila's arm above the wound, and tightened it to cut off the blood flow. She jabbed a new hole in it with one of the discarded knives and set the belt.

The she tore the hem of her gown and tried to stem the flow of blood.

Meanwhile, the amulet was laying, forgotten at the moment at Laoura's side.

She closed her eyes and felt relief flow over her. Somewhat roughly, she forced herself into a sitting position and rubbed her arms nervously. "He-he's gone." Looking at the pendant, she shivered. Her glaive she laid on the ground, and the cloak was in her lap. Staring down at the pool of blood, she looked back up at Laoura, realiazing that if it weren't for her fellow goddess, she would have been dead because of her own brother. "It's frightening...how he turned against me. I doubt anything that harsh happened to you, Laoura." She was looking at the goddess, concern playing upon her countenance...

"You'd be surprised," she said softly, immensly relieved that the bleeding had slowed.

In one smooth motion she picked up her amulet and stood, sweeping on her cloak. "I suppose I must be on my way." She looked up at the waning moon and then slowly walked away without another word.

Laoura was slightly concerned about the wound, but was not going to stop her. Varila was a survivor, like Laoura herself, and she knew that Varila most likely wanted to be alone.
