Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Prerequisites Checklist:

  • Who am I? I am SenMontague
  • Is this character active, at least a few weeks old and unlikely to be removed in the near future? yepyepyep
  • Do I have at least 150 gold sitting on this character's account? yes

Why should you accept this custom PrC?
I've always loved Infamous Second Son, and I thought the smoke abilities would complement Sen really well. He's subtle, mostly quiet, but deadly if you don't see him coming. He has a lot of flashy abilities, but this would be his favorite for sure. Plus, who doesn't love turning to smoke at will and kicking ass?

Smoke Hazard
Custom PrC: Sen Montague

Have you ever been in a housefire? The flames, licking at you, burning the air, your skin? Then you know it's never the flames that kill you. It's the smoke. That's why I'm learning this. Smoke drives you blind, draws the breath out of your lungs, chokes you with soot. It's the smoke that kills you.

All abilities are magical.

Prerequisites

  • Primary or Secondary Element: Fire or Wind

Smoke Charges
Smoke Hazards cannot make smoke within their own body due to the difficulty of seperating fire from smoke in their own mana pool. So, they drain smoke from pre-existing non-magical or magical fire. Outside of battle, draining one smoke source takes about five seconds of pure concentration and gives the Smoke Hazard five charges of smoke. In battle, draining a smoke source is instant, but gives one charge. Smoke Hazard has fifteen charges maximum. Once running out of Smoke Charges, none of this PrC's abilities may be used, even those that do not require charges to use.

<This is where your pricing table will go.>

Level One

  • Smoke Dash:Turn your body into smoke and dash five feet forward in a straight line. While in smoke form, physical attacks cannot damage you, but any magical spell or magical PrC ability can, resulting in damage upon turning back to normal. While in smoke form, you move around people and obstacles in your path, and can dash through narrow openings three inches tall by three inches wide at the smallest. This ability can also be used while airborne. Smoke Dash uses no charges, but using it over and over will cause more and more physical fatigue. After ten uses, the Smoke Hazard must spend a post with minor physical fatigue to recover.

  • Smoke Shot: Fire a straight, quick, smoke bullet which deals minor burn and physical damage on impact. Maximum range is about 30 feet, and has the ponential to blind an individual for ten seconds if striking them in the face. This shot can be fired in quick succession, but uses one smoke charge per shot.

Level Two

  • Smoke Strike: Take any weapon (or your fists) and charge it with smoke, making it red-hot and covered in a cloud of smoke, slightly burning targets on impact, as well as damaging armor more than a normal attack would. Strikes use one charge, but you may expend an additional charge to release a burst of blinding smoke upon impact, which blinds the opponent for a full two minutes.

Level Three

  • Fume Bomb: A projectile that doubles as cover and a damaging bomb that can be thrown up to a hundred feet. Throw it at the ground or non-organic target to create a cover of smoke that mildly burns and causes fatigue (for a single post) for all those who enter the five foot radius other than you. Or, throw it at an enemy to deal moderate burn damage and blinding targets in a five foot radius for a post. The smoke from the bomb lasts for three posts before dissipating. This ability uses three charges.

  • Ember Healing: Heal your injuries by turning your injured body parts to smoke and reassembling them whole again. Minor injuries require one charge, moderate injuries require three, and major injuries require five. Severed limbs can be regenerated for ten charges. In battle, only minor injuries can be healed with this ability. This ability does not apply to grafts, or magically enhanced body parts. This ability cannot be applied to other individuals

Level Four

  • Cinder Comet: Release an explosion of smoke from your hands and blow yourself high into the air, before falling back to the ground, striking the ground and releasing a radial explosion of white-hot embers and smoke. Those within five feet are severely burned and blinded for two posts, while those within ten feet are blinded and experience difficulty breathing for a post, as well as moderate burns. Those within fifteen feet are mildly singed by the embers, and experience mild kinetic damage. Those outside fifteen feet of the impact are not affected, but their vision of the radius is disrupted by a cloud of smoke. This ability uses five charges.

Level Five

  • Full Cowl Cinder Style: Expend seven charges to cover yourself with a layer of thick smoke and burning embers, allowing you to move more quickly and use this PrC's abilities more quickly. While in this state, Smoke Hazard PrC abilities require no charge usage, while other spells and PrC abilities can used as normal. This ability can be used once per fight and lasts for three posts, but after this ability fades, you suffer severe difficulty breathing and extreme physical fatigue for two posts. It is possible to continue fighting during this period if you have the Endurance feat.

I have no idea what Infamous Second Son even is, so I apologize if any of my feedback goes against the aesthetic you're going for. Just let me know and we'll see how we can make it fit.

Good job on this cPrC. Concept is cool, mechanics have some good pre-balancing done on them. Makes my job easier.

Smoke Charges meta-mechanic looks good to me, but I'm going to have Leyanni double-check it.

Smoke Dash length of the dash can be increased to 30 feet. 5 feet is about the length of 1-2 paces, which isn't very much considering what the ability does and how it can be intercepted by magical abilities.

Smoke Shot looks good.

Smoke Strike let's change that blind duration to 2 combat rounds. Fights are fast, and 2 minutes is a very long time to be blinded when you're in the heat of combat.

Fume Bomb looks good.

Ember Healing looks good.

Cinder Comet looks good, I just need to know what exactly kinetic damage is. Is that just physical damage? Like a shockwave? That's fine if so.

Full Cowl Cinder Style: Reduce duration to 1 combat post, but remove the physical fatigue incurred afterward -- just keep the difficulty breathing, which is a huge hamper in a fight as it is.

Once you make these modifications, I'm going to have Leyanni take a quick look to make sure the cPrC as a whole doesn't have too much blinding. I mean, blinding is kind of its thing so I have no problem with it -- especially since there are so many alternative ways to see in this setting -- but it's nice to have a second opinion. I also would like her to double-check the meta-mechanic to make sure the wording is tight.

The metamechanic is fine, tbh.

edit: Ozan mentioned to me that the blind duration shouldn't stack. I don't think it'd be much fun to be perma-blinded, so I'm in full agreement.
