Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Wynne shook her head, sighing softly as she looked down at the charms. "Oh, it's naethin'. Ah've jist bin thinkin' a wee bit too much abit a wee bit too many things. Cannae seem tae git mah mind off ay it." She glanced up at him, concealing that every time she looked back at his face, she was startled again. "What happened tae there 'not bein' onie need for conversation'? Finally breakin' out ay 'at shell ay yours?" She gave a slightly teasing smile, before allowing herself to look back at the charms quietly. She tried to remain the way she had been, but she couldn't shake the uncomfortable, nervous edge she still had around him.

Sen quietly perused the inventory as he spoke, not sweing anything that was particularly useful as he moved onto the next stall. "There isn't." His words were short and to the point as he looked over at her. "I am simply curious as to your mental state."

He continued quietly looking through all the stalls, crossing his arms. "I'm guessing your mental state might be 'extremely on edge', no? You really don't like demons." He sighed and crossed his arms.

She huffed and kept her eyes away, her fingertips dragging along the wood ends of the stalls. "Mebbe a wee bit. Me an' th' demon sort jist dornt gie along very weel. If it wasnae loch 'at, Ah wooldnae hae left home, I'll teel ye 'at." She shook her head, scratching the back of her neck and mumbling quietly. "Wooldnae hae hud much ay a reason tae." Following those words fell silence from her, her face blank with a sheet of calmness over it.

He sighed quietly as he bought a few snacks from another vendor and downed them instantly before sighing as they walked through the market. "I can understand that. But they're- we're not all so bad. Hard pill to swallow." He looked away, sighing quietly and leaning against the wall.

"Ah'll believe it if Ah see it," she said, eyes glazing over the stands in silence. She pulled her hands back and clasped them behind her back, looking out at the slowly filling streets. Balefire had an assortment of everything, but seeing it from her bedroom wasn't quite as fulfilling as looking at it in broad daylight. With a sigh, she looked back at the stalls, her gaze traveling over every little thing in an attempt to take it all in at once.

He grumbled quietly as she dismissed him easily and shopped around for some more itmes before turning back to her. "Okay, let's get going-"

That was when the portal opened.

Sen gaped up at it, staring as golden light poured through. The fiendish part of him instinctively recoiled as he scooched back, uncertain, before standing up straight. "...A planar rift to Celestia."

Wynne stared, blinded for a moment, as she instantly remembered the recurring dreams she'd had recently. Her eyes widened as she remembered the same golden haze, the comforting scape, and the winged creatures of light speaking in another language. She laughed incredulously, her mouth hanging open as she stared.

She'd seen Celestia.

She immediately was drawn to it, taking a small step forward towards the bright glow. It seemed ironic, like the punchline of a bad joke about death her father might tell her, but it didn't seem to bother her. She thought over the dream again, remembering every little detail, and her curiosity began to grow. Was Celestia just as she'd dreamed? Or was this a matter of sheer coincidence? And if it wasn't, what did her mother have to do with it?

With her interest piqued, she took another step forward, reaching her hand out to the cool feel of holy energy, her eyes wide.

What awaited her on the other side?

"Wait," he said urgently, reaching forward to grab her hand and stare up at the rift. "We don't know what's up there. If you go, there is no chance you will be able to come back." He seemed genuinely nervous, staring up at the rift. "And if you go, by contract, I have to come with. So make your choice."

She blinked back at him, then back at the rift quietly. She felt the same anxiety welling up in her stomach, and for a moment, she pondered what the consequences would have been if she had tried this under her aunt's care, if it could be called that.

I wish tae disappear. In any way possible. Ah need it out of here in any way Ah can, as quietly as Ah can. Ah dornt hae any specific place tae gang. Ah jist need away.

As long as that held true, she couldn't see how this could go wrong.

"Well that's jist tay bad fer ye, innit?" She told him, before smiling and extending her hand towards the bright rift and allowed herself to be pulled through.

It wasn't a sensation quite like she thought it would be. She expected to see some odd tunnel or path that would lead them to Celestia, but that wasn't what it was like at all. In a split moment, she felt a surge of magic, overtaking her senses and blinding her, and then suddenly, they were in another place, as though the moment in which they'd left Chaon had been wiped from existence and replaced with that one.

Upon their arrival into Celestia, Wynne found herself stood straight up with her neck bent towards a sky she couldn't see- the surge of pure magic still hadn't receded yet, leaving her vision blurry and hazy, the whites overexposed and out of focus. She shook out her head and readjusted her headpiece as her vision slowly came back to her. They stood in a forest of white-wooded trees, the leaves of gold and silvery chrome hues. The soil was covered in tall grass, reaching up past Wynne's knees. The sky was a pale blue silvery hue, and even without a cloud in sight, the breeze was cool and refreshing. Wynne turned around, her eyes wide as she took an unsteady step forward in the grass, stumbling before she steadied herself. "Oh... oh wow. This is pure somethin'."

Sen saw her pop away out of existence and a million possibilities raced through his mind. He could just turn and leave. Let her do what she wanted. Maybe even jump in and force a payment for escorting her this far, then leave with the money.

He did neither, leaping into the rapidly closing rift. The same magic overwhelmed him, his eyes squeezed shut as he landed in Celestia. He looked up around him, staring as the perfect hills and sun-dappled sky of the high plane came into view. Sen swallowed nervously as the fiendish part swelled in anger - no matter what alignment a demon could be, all of them hated Celestia. For a war they felt was unfairly thrust upon them for their nature alone. A crusade they never asked for, that claimed hundreds of their fiendish lives. Some of the Archdevil's fury washed over him and Sen's hands burned with the reddish-black hellfire. He extinguished it quietly, taking a deep breath to take control.

"...What the hell did you do that for?" His voice trembled with quiet rage.

"Ye tauld me tae make mah choice. Sae Ah did." Wynne turned to look at him with an even gaze, her mismatched eyes cool, before the corners of her lips turned up in a smile. "Ah didne make yer choice fur ye. If ye wanted yer money, ye coods hae jist said sae. Probably shoods hae added 'at intae yer wee ultimatum." She turned away and began to walk, calling back without looking over her shoulder. "Ye micht an aw come alang, a daemon in these parts nae lest lang by themselves, aam sure."

"I suppose that's fair," he muttered quietly, before looking at her. "Unfortunately, I'm unable. The rift closed as I jumped in. My plan was to take the money and leave." He looked back at where the portal once was. "I have no choice but to keep moving." He began walking through the golden forest, his fiendly half bubbling and boiling as he continued. This place gave him an uneasy feeling - like a wonderful facade had been put up while things in the background fell to pieces. He wondered if his instinct was right.

Wynne continued moving through the forestry with a soft smile, and before long, she heard the sounds of footsteps on hard stone and soft speech. She blinked and hurried, walking a little faster, until the tall grass abruptly stopped, replaced instead with and alternating stone path out of the trees. Her steps only came faster, until the path led off onto a road made of an ivory-colored stone, the paths lined with floating lamps made of pure light energy. The buildings were tall and intricate, many carved out of pure white or pale-hued materials, and windowed by the same sort of stained-glass creations from the temple in her dreams, and walls covered thickly with ivy and plants she couldn't name from books. Beings walked the streets, some with wings in pairs, others with gold, light-infused skin, and many with hair of a silvery gleam. Whatever speech that could be heard was quiet and polite, quiet enough that she couldn't make out what they were saying. She looked around with wide eyes, before stepping out and beginning to walk through the streets in search for somewhere to stay.

It was Sen's turn to nervously be led. He flipped up his hood and sighed quietly, closing his eyes as he walked along with her. The light blinded him and he could feel the pupiless eyes on him as he walked nervously by. His hands smoked with hellfire as he jogged nervously, fidgeting with his dagger.

Just because he had risen from the Abyss didn't mean there weren't Celestials up here who wanted to put him a spitroast and cook him for dinner. It had been that way since he was small.

He swallowed as one Celestial's eyes stayed on him longer than normal, and he could almost hear their words. He swallowed and looked away, but he couldn't leave now.

They walked for a little while longer, before Wynne began to realize that most of the signs around weren't written in the common tongue, but in some sort of strange symbols that seemed familiar to her. She blinked, unsure of exactly how to get around, before deciding she would just have to wing it by looking through the windows. After a few minutes of this tactic, she found an interior that looked enough like an inn and glanced back at Sen, before opening the door. She was correct that it was, in fact, an inn, but a rather nice one compared to the ones she'd seen on Chaon. The being at the desk was one of the beings covered in a sort of frost, with diamond-like pupilless eyes. It gave the two of them an odd look, blinking at Wynne's headpiece and at Sen's hood, but once Wynne set down the gold, the being didn't seem to bother, giving them the key and leaving Wynne to move away quietly, walking to their rather upscale room and sighing.
