Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

"Ah." Sen kept his gaze trained on the water. This... would be a little difficult. So, they utilized magic similar to his own. He gnawed his lip with a soft sigh. "Alright. Even so, better we picked Cascadia. Further the better, and I doubt your 'loaded' family would have much influence among the other 'loaded' families there."

He turned to her after a long while of silence. "Can you fight?" The question was short and to the point. He looked at her quietly. Perhaps she could fight, in which case she might be easier to defend. If she couldn't, that just meant he might have to fight harder.

After she answered, he nodded quietly and asked another question. "...How much does daemon casting magic scare you?"

To the first question, her response was simple, and very much to the point- as much to the point as it could be with her accent. "Nae, nae pure. That's wa Ah hired ye."

The second question, however seemed to cause her face to set in place very suddenly, her relaxed expression turning slightly withdrawn, shifting uncomfortably in her dress. "Ah, Ah wooldnae say it scares me... but it definitely makes me feel a wee bit uncomfortable, at th' better ay times. Wa dae ye ask?"

"It's because in a fight I will not only be defending myself, but also you." His voice was quiet as he crossed his arms. "I won't have a choice but to use Unholy magic. I'm sorry about that. If you wish for me not to use it, then you better start learning how to throw those rocks fast." He looked back at the stream, silent.

Night fell soon and Sen looked at the dying flames before closing his eyes, seemingly concentrating. Slowly, the environment around him began to slowly heat up, until the space in a 6 foot radius around him became comfortably warm in response to the fading sunlight. He opened his eyes and nodded quietly. "Sleep."

She didn't take another second to contemplate before lying back on the ground and curling onto her side, using her arm as a sort of pillow, and drifting off silently.

When she opened her eyes, however, to a place that was not quite the forest she'd fallen asleep to.

Bright light assaulted her eyes, blinding her for a short moment. Slowly, she recovered, her pupils narrowing and adjusting to the obnoxious light, and sat up, looking around.

Everything around her seemed to be coated in a soft golden glow that seemed to appear from nowhere and never dissipate. The scenery appeared to be a sort of temple of marble and ivory, the ceiling held by tall pillars. The walls were sectioned evenly by golden stained lights, the walls coated in ivy and carvings of beings with wings and made of faces and shapes she couldn't quite recognize. This was all leading up to steps to a high fountain of marble, the water being the cleanest and purest she'd ever seen, and at the foot of the engraved pool, was a woman kneeling at the front, her head of silvery-blonde hair bowed as if in prayer. The woman was still for a moment, before looking over her shoulder with a small, pale-lipped smile, her crystal blue-grey eyes kind and gentle, but with a knowing beneath her that Wynne couldn't help but feel afraid of. She attempted to sit up in surprise, but she felt as though she couldn't move, only her open her mouth with a dumbfounded look.

"Mother?"

And with that, it all fell away, and she was staring up at the morning sky of the forest. She sat up with a start, looking around, and she swore she could see slivers of the golden glow at the very corners of her peripheral vision.

But every time she turned her head, there was nothing but what appeared to be reality.

She shook her head and readjusted her headwear, mumbling quietly without realizing she wasn't quite speaking real words, and looked around with bleary eyes.

Sen didn't sleep that night, and it showed a bit around his face. His eyes were slightly dulled, and his bags had slightly increased. As she startled awake, he jumped slightly and his hand went to his dagger, but he relaxed and continued fastening his cloak. He looked down at her quietly. "Come on. We'll reach a trader's outpost by tonight. We have to keep moving for now, though."

The warmth that had radiated from him last night had tamped down somewhat as he began walking through the brush, the trees over head blocking the morning sunlight. It was dark, and he clenched the hand with the claw weapon around it into a fist. He was ready for anything that might come.

Wynne blinked at him, before nodding and getting up, beginning to walk just behind him quietly. She still saw the same golden haze over her vision everywhere she looked. She let out a small huff, analyzing the dream in her head, every symbol and carving and pattern she'd seen, but couldn't quite draw any connections to what she'd seen. With a sigh, she pushed it out of her mind and opened her eyes, focusing her gaze up ahead and clasping her hands behind her back, and falling silent.

Suddenly, there was a rustle in the bush nearby and Sen stopped short, his hands sparking and flaming. He glared at the bush before slowly continuing to walk, muttering a spell. Suddenly, a pillar of flame erupted down from the sky, incinerating the bush in an instant, and anything behind or around it. The forest was too damp for a fire to spread, the flame burned and went out. He turned to see a couple animals that had been cooked in the blast and sighed.

He was a bit too on edge.

Sen kept walking quietly, looking around. Despite that incineration, he still couldn't shake the feeling that SOMETHING was off. He just couldn't figure out what.

Wynne jumped as he cast the spell, looking back with wide eyes, and then at Sen. She was still for a moment even as he continued walking, before letting out a small sigh. Silently, she turned her head away and began walking again. Some part of her told her she shouldn't question him- not out of fear, necessarily, but more out of politeness. She'd allowed herself to slip a lot in how she carried herself, her childish recklessness and nosiness returning and popping up in some improper and ill-fitting situations. As much as the idea of putting her family's business-like teachings to use offput her, some use of her secrecy and indifference could be of use here.

Sen stalked on forward, shoving his hands in his pockets. He swore that the wind was disguising the movements of somebody, something, but it was impossible to tell. He looked back at Wynne, who seemed to be straightening herself and seemed serious. He looked back forward, continuing to walk with a nervous expression, sighing quietly.

After a while, he stopped dead still and looked around. "God damn it," he muttered. "Why won't that feeling go away?" He looked back at Wynne. "How long would it take for your family to realize you've disappeared?"

Wynne looked back at him, falling silent as her eyes fell to the ground in thought. "Weel, given whit happened back in balefire wi' th' guard, they've probably awreddy figured it. Ah cannae imagine 'at they'd be sae keen oan findin' me quickly, though." She looked around as she spoke, lowering her voice a little, feeling anxiety welling up more and more the longer they stayed put, her muscles tense and unmoving as she turned her head.

Sen nodded and kept moving until an arrow whizzed by his face and he rolled away, his claws sharpened. "You, get behind me," he hissed at her as he reached out his finger. A bolt of white-black emergy shot out from his finger at high speed, entering the bush from which the arrow emerged. A loud scream was heard. Sen knew what was happening - the man's innards were slowly rotting and becoming undead. He grabbed her and ran. "Any chance that was one of your guys?" His eyes narrowed as he continued running.

Her eyes widened as the events rolled by quickly, finally registering exactly what had happened by the time they were running. She glanced back, eyes wide, her words stammered out between sharp breaths. "A-Ah dornt ken, honestly. Ah dunnae kinn onie personally that use a bow, but mebbe...?" She shook her head, nearly tripping over her feet once or twice as they ran, her pale eyes wide as she stared ahead.

Sen dashed and dashed until they made it into a clearing. He took cover behind a tree, still tightly holding her hand. "If you know any spells to throw anyone else off," he muttered. "Now might be a really really good time."

Wynne looked at him, before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, beginning to murmur a spell quietly between her lips repeatedly. The fingers of her free hand twisted and contorted in odd fashions, and in her mind, she pictured exactly what they would need to see. She could hear footsteps coming closer and closer, closing in, before flicking her hand outward to activate the spell.

Though Sen and herself could not see the illusion she'd cast, the second man following them could- the sight of a Seraph, an angel with a flaming sword and glowing eyes, hovering just above the ground, looking down at the man. He stopped dead in his tracks, and so Wynne began speaking, restraining her accent as much as possible, the angel echoing her words to the man. Her words were too quiet to be heard, but whatever she said seemed to work, as she heard the man let out a string of curse words and bolt the other way. She allowed herself to smile and opened her eyes, the illusion disappearing once she was sure the man was gone, letting out a sigh of relief. "Ah, thaur we gang. Shooldnae be a problem now." She decided to omit the fact she wasn't sure it would've worked in the first place, allowing herself a bit of pride in that moment.

Sen watched as the man cursed and left and said nothing, not moving or speaking for a while, before jumping up ajd running away again. "What was that?" He asked as soon as they were far enough away. "What sort of spell did you cast?"

They stopped at a pond as Sen knelt down, taking deep breaths. "We narrowly escaped," he mumbled. Not like he couldn't have taken them - he'd simply rather avoid it.
