Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

He sighed and nodded, moving up from his crouched position and shuffling the sticks back together. "I understand. It takes a bit of time. I would recommend moving to the shade, if you can." His voice was back to being quiet and controlled, the flickering flame in his teal eyes. "It seems twenty six is your limit, then. Reaching thirty should be able to push you enough." He nodded, then looked up at the sky. It was still sunset, but the sky had shifted from a bright pink-yellow to a soft pink-blue. He sighed. Perhaps that was what substituted for night in this thin band of sunset. He turned back to look at her. "It's approaching night, I believe. We should get some rest." He flicked a ball of fire into the fire pit and it began to burn softly. He sat down and went to his knapsack, mumbling as he pulled out a hunk of preserved meat. He stabbed it with his dagger and began to roast it over the flame, humming quietly.

"A'd much rather stay up a wee bit longer." She opened her sore eyes to look at the sky silently, admiring the colors through the haze of a headache. After a few moments of silence, she sat up and looked down into the fire, pulling her knees into her chest and watching the wood burn. Though the warmth felt good, the bright embers only worsened her ache, so she closed her eyes, mumbling quietly to herself as she scrunched her face. Her mumbling died off within a couple minutes, leaving complete silence interrupted only by the crackling fire. For a little while, it almost seemed as if she'd fallen asleep while sitting there, but the occasional fluttering of her eyelids suggested she was still awake.

"Do as you wish." Sen fell quiet once again, looking up towards the sky. The fire was warm on his face, but it wasn't as if he needed it - for some reason, his body had started becoming hotter and hotter, and he could stay warm without the cloak and heavy armor that he wore. He sighed and looked up at the sun-dappled sky, before moving his arm over his eyes, his hand wrapping around the dagger. He was a light sleeper, and could wake up quite quickly if necessary.

After a little bit of resting, he sat up and stayed quiet, watching the surrounding woods. The girl seemed as if she was drifting in and out of sleep. He elected to ignore her rather than provoke her and possibly wake her up.

Wynne fell in and out of unconsciousness for a long while, before slowly, she fell into a somewhat uneasy sleep.

She didn't move much other than the occasional twitch of her eyes, hands, or feet, curled up on her side. Her rest was deep enough to dream, though nothing she dreamt made sense to her- words in languages she wasn't sure she knew, bright lights and colored spots in her vision, and voices familiar, but not recognizable. She entertained the dream for a while long, before the voices and words became increasingly loud and busy, her head pained even in her sleep, until the pattern was broken by a loud scream, and she quickly sat up.

"A'm up, Awnty-" She blinked and looked around through bleary, squinted eyes, her headpiece pulled back so it was nearly possible to see the roots of her hair, though it was too little to discern color. Yawning, she adjusted the cloth straight again and sighed softly, one side of her face red from resting on it.

Sen was already awake by the time she was, all of his armor and weapons on, as well as his cloak. The fire had died out sometime during the night, and Sen had made sure to stomp out the embers by the firepit, and was sitting with his claw weapon resting on his knee. When she finally woke up, he raised an eyebrow, but said nothing, waiting for her consciousness to get itself together, before standing up.

"Good. You're awake. We best be going again," he said softly, sticking his hands into the pockets of his cloak.

She nodded sleepily and stood up, brushing the grass off of her cloak and dress and straightening the knuckle-high sleeves of her dress, and following him through the area. She seemed fascinating by every little thing she saw in the trees, every little movement between branches, and any time she wasn't looking through the leaves, she was looking up at the blue sky. After a while of her gaze flitting about, she shook her head out and sighed, setting her focus back upon the path ahead, though it was obvious her gaze wished to focus on her surroundings rather than where she was going.

Sen walked quietly, his claw weapon firmly strapped to his hand. He looked back at her as she looked around, then back towards the path. Of course she was interested in the foliage, he thought to himself as they exited the thin band of sunset and evening gradually turned into morning. She probably hadn't seen nature in... well, since she was born. He looked back onto the path they were following, his eyes dreary. He rubbed them and yawned as they continued walking along the path, before they came across a stream. He knelt down besides it. "Stay here. I'll capture breakfast."

Watching him go, Wynne blinked, before huffing and looking back down at the stream in silence. She was quiet for a long while, tapping her foot impatiently, her eyes settling on the rocks that lay along the bank. Well, if she couldn't help with hunting, perhaps she could practice a little bit?

Holding her hand out, she murmured a quiet spell and marked one of the rocks with a small bolt of light, focusing her eyes on the mark, before lifting her hand slowly, and guiding the slightly-larger-than-a-pebble rock, and dropped it in the water. It created little sound and only disturbed the water enough to leave rings. She smiled and scorched another one, before lifting that one up as well.

Slowly, she worked herself up, taking occasional breaks, until she'd found the strength to lift up rocks larger than her hand in diameter, a triumphant smile on her face as beads of sweat began to form from her concealed hairline.

Sen knelt down and drew the copper dagger from its sheath, dipping into the water until it was the length of a hunting knife. He waited quietly until a few salmon swam by and he stabbed them quickly, skewering them on the now large knife. He withdrew the knife, watching the blood drip from the fish's wounds as he set them down on a rock. As he went to go in again, one of Wynne's levitating rocks dropped in, splashing his face. He sputtered in surpise and looked to see her levitating them with some proficiency. He sighed and wiped his face before deboning the fish, grabbing some firewood and setting a bright flame with a simple spell. He skewered the fish and set it over the flame to cook, silently watching as Wynnesteria worked her magic.

Wynne's resolve slowly began to wear down as she picked up rock after rock, leaving her with one rock nearly the size of her forearm. A determined smile crossed her face as she took a deep breath, before holding her arm out again (which had begun to grow sore,) and focused intently on the rock, her face contorted slightly as she put all of her remaining energy into it. It was obviously a large strain on her, her hands shaking and her leg twitching as it slowly rose above the gravelly side of the stream. She managed to lift it a few inches into the air, but as soon as she moved it a centimeter to the side, her arm and mind gave and it fell to the ground with a thud. She gasped for air and wiped the sweat from her thin brows, shaking her head. "Aye, mebbe anither time. Mah god, everythin' hurts loch 'ell." She huffed and collapsed on her rear, face in her hands.

Sen quietly watched as he removed the fish from the flame and set one on the ground next to her. "Hm." He removed the claw from his hand and nodded to the skewered meal. "Eat. You need to get your energy up after a display like that." He turned back toward the stream and watched it quietly, playing with a spark of flame between his fingers.

She sighed and nodded, picking up the second skewer and beginning to eat quietly, mumbling about her sore arms as she chewed. She finished rather quickly and shook out her hands, which had begun to tingle with a pins-and-needles sensation on top of the dull ache, but it didn't seem to soothe them any better. Her lips pulled into a grimace as she stared into the ground, thinking quietly over her escape. It was unlikely her guardians would care enough to go looking past the streets of Balefire- if anything, they would welcome her disappearance, but her family was far too unpredictable. Part of her wondered if it was the dark arts that made them that way. She cast a suspicious side-eye at Sen, before quickly dropping it, realizing how impolite- and potentially risky- that could be.

He brushed some stray strands of hair out of his eyes as he munched thoughtfully on the skewer. Knowing that she was just a fledgeling magic user put his mind at ease - she didn't look like she had the strength required to take him down. With that in mind, he ignored her side-eyes and stared into the water as he planned a route.

"...I've decided that we're heading to Cascadia," he said quietly. "I know some mates there who would be willing to give you some fake papers. You'd live your life there in peace," he said with a quiet sigh. "We'll discuss payment at a later date. Logistics are exhausting."

With that, he began playing with a bit of crimson-indigo-black magic between his fingers. "If you don't mind," he said plainly. "I'd like to know more about your family. In case we have to deal with them later on in this venture."

Wynne blinked and glanced at him, before rubbing her eyes and pursing her lips in thought. "Weel... they're aw elven ay th' high kin', sae they dornt hae much difficulty gettin' aroond. Nowhaur is necessarily "safe" frae them, if they're willin' tae go th' length. Nae tae mention, they're damn loaded, an' it's nae loch they're idiots, sae bribes arw ne'er it ay question. An' coz they're frae Balefire, they hae th' eyes a cats. Dark spaces will definitely nae be an issue. An' they're aw dark mages ay some sort ay anither. Demon castin' an' death spells an' curses, that sort." She seemed to grow uncomfortable by the last few sentences, shifting and looking away. "Ah dornt care whaur Ah go. Sae long as Ah dornt hae tae see them anymair."
