| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Looking at him, she blinked, then sighed and took the half he offered. She pulled her hood back and took a small bite, chewing silently as she stared down at the ground. She could still feel the remnants of the energy from earlier, filling her with discomfort. She closed her eyes and ate in silence, tapping her foot on the dark ground in silence. The air still felt suffocating, even outside of the city- perhaps it was the darkness that made her feel this way? Quietly, she finished her half of the sandwich and looked up. "Ave got a question, if is' awright. Whot exactly do ye do? Mos' folks don' bump inta someone an' then tell aum yer goina escort 'em out. Seems a wee bi odd." |

He ate silently as he sighed, exhaling as he chewed on the sandwich. He silently willed for the unholy miasma to dissipate and it did, spreading out into the air and sinking into the ground, the remnants spreading themselves so thin until there was nothing left. He continued chewing on the sandwich, finishing it and downing some water from the flask. He offered it to her as a silent gesture of politeness, setting it down next to her before sighing. He blinked as she asked the question - he thought it would have been obvious by now. It seemed she wasn't exactly worldly by any means. "I'm what you'd call a bounty hunter. I do jobs people assign me for money, usually from job boards or requests. You're a special case." He sighed as he toyed with the flame in his hands, watching as the little spitfire zoomed around, making a circlet of flame. He gave a tiny smile, remembering how he used to play with fire at Telma's lounge, teaching Vin to use magic. Those days were long gone now. |

She nodded slowly as he spoke, looking up and watching the small flame in his hands with a vestige of anxiety in her pale eyes as she shifted on one foot. Her gaze moved up to his face quietly, noticing the look on his face mentally. Ah, so he did have emotions. That was a nice little reassurance. She kicked herself to break her out of the rude little train of thought, producing a soft 'ow' from between her lips. She cleared her throat and looked up, clasping her hands behind her back and finally speaking up in polite curiosity. "Aye, ye seem a bit lost in thought, ye awright o'er thaur?" |

He started when she murmured a soft "ow", his claw weapon emerging slightly from his cloak. When he saw it was nothing, he retracted the claw, crossing his arms and sighing quietly. Sen quietly tapped the scabbard on his back, which was concealed by the cloak. Good, it was still there. The weapon had cost a fortune to be smithed, and had plucked him from danger a numerous amount of times. He remembered the first big adventure he'd ever had - the quest to find that big, powerful god-whatever. An Ascendant. Miss Moore had been quite indignant on finding it, even when his mana pathways needed to be reshaped. That was how he got... those powers. He held his arm out and a faint wisp of light curled around it. The light began to strengthen and brighten, before it took form - a white and teal wyvern perched on his arm. He sighed as he reached with his other hand and began to scratch it. It hummed with magical energy. His Primal Shroud. He realized, suddenly, that his Shroud was visible, and sighed before concentrating, causing it to vanish once again and drifting back into silent rememberance. When his client began to speak, he glanced over for a moment, then back at his feet. Why did she seem so concerned? It really wasn't her business, but he decided to address it anyways. She might become more insistent if he didn't answer. "I am fine. Simply remembering." |

She shrugged, irritated slightly by the short response, but said nothing more. Part of her felt it unnecessary to venture further with more questions, despite the burning curiosity in her. Shifting on her feet, Wynne looked around the pitch-black forest, nothing how little than a few feet in front of her was visible to her. Perhaps it was the stagnant air similar to that of Balefire, or maybe the sheet of darkness that blanketed the whole area for miles, but it all still felt too familiar- as though she weren't far gone enough. It made her antsy, her hands fidgeting and her pointed shoes tapping on the dense dirt ground. She looked over and sighed quietly. "Feels like we shou be movin' a bi longer, donnit? Is naut quite dark yet, could make use of this time while we still hav' i, aye?" Her anxiety was clear in her eyes as her gaze shifted between different points in the dirt, her lips pulled in a tight grimace. |

Sen sighed after a while and nodded, standing up, shifting on his feet. "Indeed. Before we proceed, I'd like to know - why did that guard recognize you?" He looked down at her, his expression cold and calculating. "Are you some sort of high profile target? It doesn't really matter, I suppose. I would like to know, however, for my own personal curiosity." He began walking again, not waiting for her to answer. He created a small flame in his hand - a fireball, which could double as a throwing weapon if need be. He kept on walking, his feet crunching the dry grass beneath him. The odor that permeated the air in Balefire had lessened substantially to this point, replaced with a gentle breeze and the quiet sound of a creek nearby. He thought for a moment if it would be necessary to use that new dagger he'd gotten. No. Not yet. |

Wynne blinked as he began moving, still for a few moments, before quickly jogging to catch up with him and sighing, a slight flutter of hope as she breathed in fresher air. The first thought that came to her mind was not a lie, to her own surprise, as she began to speak. "Ma family's well-known in Balefire. Lords o' Balefire, 'n all. So A' am too. Which is part o' why I wan out. Aye?" She huffed as the hem of her dress dragged in the ground, dirting the white cloth a reddish-brown. Her breathing had seemed to sharpen slightly over the past hour, a barely noticeable shift in her voice. She adjusted her headcloth with another heavy sigh, her blue eye narrowed slightly as she looked down at the ground. |

Sen continued on the dirt path, his fingers brushing up against a small copper dagger clipped to his belt. Another flash of memory swept over him. He remembered the healer woman - how, at the end of their journey together, she'd gifted him the small copper dagger. A memoriam. He certainly remembered well. As the girl continued to speak, he barely registered what she was saying, until she mentioned her nobility. He turned his head, raising an eyebrow. "A noble," he stated quietly, before looking ahead again. "A high profile target. I see." He kept walking, his cloak brushing by his body as he continued moving along, silent. |

She looked up at him as they continued to walk, her thumb and forefingers pinching a bit of the fabric at the sides of her skirt and picking it up. She gave a short, dryish laugh and looked up at him, eyes narrowed slightly as though she were trying to pick up something about him. "Ye don' talk much, do ye? Dunnit get borin' havin' nothin to say all the time?" The deep-set corners of her mouth perked up in a bit of a smile, though she was genuinely curious as to why he spoke the way he did, when at all. The High Elves of her family had been nothing but talk, even her father, when he had been around. She wondered if even after these past long years, he'd still kept up his social, talkative attitude. She'd been so quiet as a kid until they'd up and gone and she was left with the extended side of her father's family. Perhaps her current talkativeness had rubbed off from them- she cringed at the idea of being anything remotely like them. There was some inspiration to shut up. |

Sen quirked an eyebrow over at her, then sighed and kept his gaze forwards in the dark, the fireball glowing softly in his hand. "There isn't much need for it." His response was simple, cold, and curt, like all of his other responses. He looked over at Wynne with a quiet expression. "And, I do not see much to converse about." He continued walking, silent. He was being sincere. What could the two of them share to talk about? Besides, he'd never had a client comment on his speaking or lack thereof. Sen was pretty sure he spoke just about as much as was professionally called for. He kept walking for a while, before he heard a soft rustle in the brush. His eyes narrowed and his claw hand slowly curled into a fist. Sen looked around as he decreased the fireball's illumination, stepping with lighter feet. |

"Hmph," was her only response to his answer, her lips pursed slightly in distracted thought. She almost didn't pick up the noise until the light weakened out of the corner of her eye. Blinking, she came back into reality to hear the tail end echo of the sound, blinking and looking over her shoulder. When she saw nothing, she continued moving as well, gathering the cloth of her dress beneath her cloak and pulling it to her ankles to prevent too much noise. She didn't speak anymore, her voice quieted by a new wave of uneasy worry gathering in her throat and blocking any words she could have thought to say. Her gaze stayed fixed on the ground, a sort of method to keep her grounded and her mind from focusing somewhere else. |

Sen kept on walking quietly, before reaching behind him and quietly taking hold of Wynne's shoulder. He pulled her up next to him and nodded slowly. "Stay next to me. Safest position." His voice was a soft whisper as he narrowed his eyes, looking around. "...Stop. Stay still" He stopped dead still, and shifted sloghtly, closing his eyes, then opening them. Thirteen little balls of light formed around one wrist. They had the appearance of tiny, white-hot stars. Sen's eyes had a teal glow to them as a faint white light gathered around his body. "Roar, Shroud." The light concentrated into a wyvern - a two legged dragon with teal scales. The wyvern had previously been small enough to perch on his arm, but now, it was the size of his whole body. It roared loudly, loud enough to cause the ground to tremble. The bushes rustled, first closer and then the sound moved away, with a loud yowling. Sen scowled. Panthers. They'd been stalking them. The Shroud growled, then disappeared completely, along with the thirteen charms. "Let's go." |

Wynne flinched slightly at the loud noise, eyes squeezed shut, before looking back up as the wyvern disappeared. She stood silently for a few moments, looking around the shadowy darkness in silence with wide, dilated eyes. Blinking, she began walking, turning on her heel to face him with a look of awe. "Oi, whit was that?! My gods, that was amazin!" She laughed slightly out of pure disbelief, followed by a mumbled "Ay, watch yerself" as she walked back into a tree branch. She glared at the wooden limb as she passed it by, but still stayed facing away from her direction, a new flush of slight embarrassment tinting her warm cheeks. |

He heard the sound of her walking into a branch and covered his mouth to stifle a laugh. There were very few things that he found funny anymore, but something about a high-class Balefire native walking into a branch was definitely one of the few. "Why thank you, milady." He allowed a bit of snark to enter his otherwise cold voice, dropping his arm. "It was a magical construct. It's my Primal Shroud. A construct through which I can channel raw arcana." He sighed, his voice returning to its normal, natural coldness. "Raw arcana is too much for a normal mortal to handle. So, a Shroud must be manifested in order to handle it." Speaking of magic... Sen looked back at her, concentrating. He couldn sense magic, but it was not as overwhelming as the presence of those he'd met in the past. He concentrated harder and his eyes widened slightly. Was... that holy energy? He winced slightly. Damn. Holy energy was definitely a problem for him. Hopefully, none of it would actually come into contact with his body. Sen definitely would not be able to handle it. |

Wynne looked back and narrowed her eyes, scoffing. "Aye, watch yer sass. I'm the one who's payin' yerself." She smiled slightly to indicate she was only joking, then sighed and closed her eyes, stretching her arms out behind her back and yawning. Her thoughts were cloudy with exhaustion, already longing for the warmth of the bed in her aunt's home. It was too late now, though- turning back and showing up now would likely constitute a few good strikes to her legs or face. She winced at the idea, remembering the stinging pain all too well to where she could feel her cheek heat up. Sighing, she turned back around and opened her eyes, looking down at the ground silently. |
