Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

"Yoo left it ay nowhwere. An' 'hen huvnae made contact ay anie kin' since 'en. Ah jist wanted tae make sure ye hadnae gain an' died ur somethin', that's awl," she said quietly, and slowly, the stupidity of her decision started to settle in. It wasn't any of her business, really. She was the one who got him here in the first place, so it made sense he wouldn't want to be around her- not only that, but just as she'd realized many times before, this was all business. He was all business, as much as that annoyed her. He didn't have to be around her, he wasn't required to accept her offers of help, even when it pained her. Why should she care, anyways? Just as Kassiel said, he was unholy, and unholy existed only to destroy.

But despite knowing all that, it still didn't feel right to turn and leave. So she held her ground, even though she was unable to hold his gaze.

Sen looked at her exasperated, and sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Any other time, and I would ask you to leave. Right now, I am too tired to care." He sighed and sat down on the bed, silent for a short while, before looking up. "I lost someone very close to me, one year ago. My partn- friend." He kept his voice tightly controlled. "They died in an airship crash. I wish to be alone to... grieve," he said quietly. "I haven't had the time until now. Are you satisfied?"

She blinked at him, watching his face quietly. "Oh... oh shite. Noo Ah feel loch a wank. Uhm..." She walked carefully by him and sat on one end of the bed, trying to remain a distance in case he lashed out at her. She watched him quietly for a moment, her face somewhat expressionless other than the concern in her eyes and brows. "...Yoo know," she began quietly, her voice a little above a murmur, "It's only gonnae make it worse if ye jist... lock yerself up an' dae naethin'. Yoo've probably heard 'at afair, but it really is true. Th' most obvioos option is tae jist cry, but nae everybody is necessarily up tae 'at obe. Ye can dae really anythin', write, tear up some parchment, scream, Ah think ye'd fin' some good in gonnae it intae th' forest an' destroyin' somethin'. But ye jist cannae lit it awl sit up in here." She added a tap to her temple with her last sentence, before dropping her hand. "Ain 'hen once you've got it awl it, it's easier tae lit it go. An' it sucks tae think abit, but eventually, yoo'll hae tae let go." She paused, before sighing softly. "Yoo've probably heard 'at aw afair. But a reminder every once in a while doesnae hurt."

"I've been trying to," he said quietly. "But... thank you for the advice. I'm not much of a crier, but I'll see what can be done." He looked up at her with a quiet expression. "Now. Kassiel will suspect if you do not show up tomorrow. Get some rest. I'm fine," he said calmly. "Goodnight."

Wynne gave a short nod, before getting up and moving to the door quietly and opening it. "Goodnight," she murmured, giving a small wave, then leaving quietly. She slept much easier that night.

For a full three hours.

However unhappy she was coming back into the temple, she felt much better after listening to another sermon of Kassiel's. She sighed with relief as it ended, beginning to get up.

"Wynnesteria, will you come here for a moment? Kassiel called, causing her to blink in confusion.

"Aye, whit is it?" She asked, tilting her head.

"I have to make sure... but you wish to stay in Celestia, correct?"

Wynne blinked, before slowly nodding. "Aye, Ah do. Wa dae ye ask?"

"Wynnesteria, I have a proposition for you," Kassiel said with a smile. "You are by far the most attentive student here. I can see it in your eyes- it's quite inspiring for my teachings. Even as only a half-Celestial, you have a pure heart and vision. That's a combination valued quite highly here."

"Oh gods, thenk ye, Kassiel, 'at means awl ay Chaon tae m-"

"Now, now, I'm not done yet. I would love for you to become a full member of our congregation. The longer you stay and the more you learn, you may even be on the fast track to being one of our priestesses. How does that sound?"

Wynne's eyes widened. "Shite, yoo're nae kiddin'!"

"No, no I am not. If you're interested, I have copies of our religious texts on me now. You can read over them, and come back with your decision tomorrow."

"Aye, aye, absolutely!" She was practically bouncing on her feet as he handed her a few books, before smiling.

"Do some reading, and if you believe you're ready, we'll discuss it after the sermon."

"Ay coorse," she said with a smile, before heading home as quickly as she could so she could sit down and read.

Sen had spent the day deep in the forest, using Wynne's advice. He'd brought no weapons, but hammered away at trees with flaming orange fists, leaving scorchmarks. He burned some leaves with his wings, throwing fireballs across the dry forest floor, setting blazes he had to put out before they became deadly. He finished up his little spree panting, feeling thoroughly vented, before spreading his fiery wings and taking off into the night sky.

He landed in his room, wings folding in, and locked the window and made sure nobody entered. He jumped into the shower, sighing as warm water cascaded down on his red skin. He stepped out, wrapped in a towel, and sat down on the ground, taking up his greatsword and closing his eyes, meditating.

Wynne quietly sat down on the bed and picked up a random book, beginning to read through it. It seemed similar to many of the religious texts on Chaon, at first glance, and she was in all agreeance. Slowly, though, the texts became... more intense.

They became slightly more graphic in detail and stories, describing Chaon as a sort of hellscape and breeding ground for Unholy agenda against Celestia, detailing the exact issues found with Unholy beings and commandments on how they should be dealt with.

Yet Wynne did not stop reading.

After several hours of reading through the separate texts, she set them aside to wash up and eat, deciding that she would check on Sen before heading off to bed to make sure all was well.

She ate quickly, watching out the window at the darkening sky, before cleaning up a little, not realizing she was slowly beginning to procrastinate on leaving the room and checking down the hall. After a while of putting it off, however, she left the room, moving down to Sen's door, before stopping. One side of her was telling her to keep going and to make sure he was alright, but her mind kept falling back to the texts, their descriptions of evil caused by the Abyss.

She fell silent as she looked at her hand, poised to knock on the door, when Kassiel's words came back to her.

All Celestials are created to be soldiers for such events and imbalances in the world- the average cannot be trusted, at the very least, not on their own, and the unholy are only here to misguide poor mortals. You are here to stop them. You know how the unholy are- they hurt you, Wynne. We are here- you are here- to keep that from happening.

Her gaze fell to the floor for a long moment, before she quietly turned and walked back to her room.

Sen finally felt a lot better - almost feeling good in fact. The venting in the forest, combined with the meditation, had given him so much time to simply think.

He thought about his life before. He thought about Ned, what he had been like. What had happened between then and now. How much he had lost, but how much he had gained from his losses. Was he still upset? Absolutely. He was more than such. He was still grieving the loss of his friends. He always would.

But, he thought with a sigh, setting his blade down. Such was the way of things. They came and went. No need to hold onto anything, only to make sure you live to see the next day. Fight, if you have to, but focus on surviving. The personal things can come when you find your peace.

This would become his new mentality. He would not hold onto the past, except for defeating Ned. When Ned was finally done with, he could find his peace. He could retire, probably, find a nice girl, and live a calm, self-sustaining life. Maybe as a fisherman. He loved fishing.

Quietly, Sen put on his cloak. Not holding onto anything meant that he would be leaving soon. He would not be staying around to see Wynne corrupted. He was not her savior, just someone who had taken her to a safe place. Two days more, and he would leave to find the rift.

He walked to the door and knocked on it. "Have you returned yet?"

Wynne sat up as she heard the door knock. She'd been home for a little while now, contemplating her last talk with Kassiel in silence. She was still for a long few moments, her brows furrowing slightly, before sitting back in her bed, not moving as she began to read from her book again, ignoring the door.

"Well, Wynnesteria, have you made your decision yet?"

"Aye, Ah think Ah 'ave." She had said with a bright grin. "Ah definitely want tae be a part ay thes."

Kassiel grinned and nodding, clapping his hands together. "Ah, that's fantastic." His smile suddenly dropped slightly, and his face turned serious. "Now, we must discuss initiation."

Wynne blinked. "Initiation?" She asked, her own grin falling.

"Yes. Our congregation is very selective, Wynnesteria. In order to join our ranks, you have to prove you are up to being a child and soldier of Celestia.

"In order to do this, you must kill a fiend or fiend-bound."

She froze as she looked up for him, her eyes widening slightly. She looked away nervously, swallowing slightly. "Ah... Ah dornt think Ah understand..."

Kassiel looked surprised. "It's quite a simple task, Wynnesteria. Every member has done this before. Your peers, your mother, I have done so numerous times. Now, it is YOUR turn to do Celestia's work.

"There will be a rift arriving soon. I suggest you leave back to Chaon, find a daemon, and put it out of its misery, and then return here when..."
He kept talking, but Wynnesteria was no longer listening. She felt shocked, confused, and maybe even a little frightened. She waited until Kassiel had finished talking before leaving, thinking about his words the entire time.

But if fiends were as bad as Kassiel said, what could be so bad about killing one?

"I know you're there. I just wanted to say," he said calmly. "I will be leaving in two days. I'm going home. You found your safe place. There is another rift opening farther away from here. I will be going there, and I will be going home. I just wanted to say goodbye." He turned away and sighed. "You need not pay me anything more."

He waited for a little bit, before starting to go back to his room. Guess she had other things to worry about.

Wynne winced slightly, tightening her grip on the book, before quickly getting up, the book still tightly in her hands as she swung the door open. "Wait," she gasped out, stopping right outside the room. "Wait, wait, just-" She quickly reached into her belt loop, before holding out a small sack of gold. "Ah coonted it it while ye were gain," she said, before shaking it once. "Jist tak' it. Nae questions speart, ifs, ands, er buts. Tak' it. An' th' sooner ye lae, th' better, hear me?" She looked slightly pained, gripping the book tighter in her hands, still holding the gold out for him.

"...Right." He answered quietly. Sen was tempted to ask if something was going on, but he said nothing of it. It was not his place. She was safe, hopefully, and he thought nothing of the gold. He took it and nodded. "Pleasure doing business with you," he said calmly as he turned and left for his room.

The sooner you leave, the better

There was an urgency, a fear present in her voice. Something told him she wasn't fearing for herself.

She was afraid for him

That, or... it was a fluke. He looked at the bag of coins, shaking it. He'd need to investigate it, but for now, it was best he heed her warning. Nothing wrong with leaving early, he supposed.

He began packing up his things, donning his cloak and putting on his gear, before quietly leaving the hotel, beginning the trek to his destination. Flying now would simply attract attention. No need for that.

Wynne sighed softly as he left, quietly returning to her room to read before heading off to bed for the night.

She didn't rest well.

She attended the sermon the next morning, listening through attentively as always, but she felt nervous and somewhat distracted throughout it. With a sigh, she got up at the end of the sermon, walking up to Kassiel. Before he could speak, she took over.

"Ah dornt think th' fiend killing is necessary," she said with a serious face, her brows furrowed as she looked up at him. "There has tae be anither way."

Wynne had spoken loud enough to get the attention of the other Celestials in the room, who looked surprised between her and Kassiel. Kassiel didn't seem to have expected it much either. "Wynnesteria, I... I don't think you understand the seriousness of that."

"Ah dae," she protested, looking around at the others, and then back at Kassiel. "An' that's wa Ah ken thes isnae necessary. Think abit it, it ay aw th' hundreds ay thoosands ay millions ay fiends an' fiend-bounds and fiends, present, history, an' future, ye dornt hink 'at even one ay them could mebbe be good? Out ay every single one, nae a body of them doesnae necessarily like aw th' bad mince 'at happens ur all th' sins?"

Kassiel stared at her and shook his head. "Wynnesteria, keep your voice down. I think it's obvious you're not thinking about this rationally. What is the root and cause of sin in this world? Not what that human-elven part of you says the sin in this world is, but what you KNOW from reading and everything we've told you is?"

"Weel, th' Abyss, but-"

"Why would we lie to you, Wynnesteria? What would cause you to believe that?"

"Ah knoow a bodie, an' Ah dornt think he's all-"

"A man? Is it that same man from before?"

"Mayb-"

"Is it that man you came here with? Sen?"

Wynne looked up at him, the seriousness in his face, and was reminded immediately of the same seriousness in her aunt's face.

"What connection does Sen have to the Abyss, Wynnesteria?"

"He's a fiend-boond, but 'at doesnae pure techt he's bad, pure, Ah dornt hink he's bad, Kassiel, Ah swear-" Wynne suddenly stopped, her eyes widening as she slapped a hand over her mouth. "Oh, oh shite, Ah've pure screwed up, oh no, oh no no-"

Kassiel put his hands on Wynnesteria, causing her to start, looking up at his serious face for a few long moments. "Wynne," he said calmly, looking at her with a sympathetic expression. "You haven't screwed up. This had to happen."

She looked up at him, pure confusion in her face, before he shushed her, resting a hand gently on her face. "Remember your relatives, Wynne. They were bound to the Abyss as well, weren't they?" She slowly nodded. "Exactly. What did they do to you?"

She cringed, screwing up her face as all the memories ran through her at once. The fires, the smoke, the burns, the cuts, the whips. She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing except shaky breaths came out, tears pricking in her eyes. Kassiel wiped her tears gently, before continuing to speak.

"It has caused so much pain to you, child, I know that. Which is why I am here to keep you from making these childish mistakes. I need you to remember those times whenever you see a daemon. Think about it, Wynne- after all that, what good can come from them? What good can come from the Abyss, from the source of all these issues?"

Wynne took a deep breath, the tears still falling in her face. "Nothing," she said shakily, wiping her face.

"Then you know what must be done," he said quietly, before looking over at one of the Celestials, and nodding to them. "Track the fiend-bound. He'll likely be in a hooded cloak. Something tells me he will be headed to the next rift location. Gather a team to capture him." Again, he turned and rested a hand on Wynne's shoulder. "You should prepare for what's next, Wynnesteria. Do not make the same mistake your mother did." He left her, leaving Wynne to stare at the ground in silence as images of fire and smoke clouded her mind.

Sen made his way through the forest, silent as he walked. He was about three miles away from the site of the next rift, and would probably end up being forced to camp near it. His feet crunched on the leaves as he walked, sighing quietly as he did so. He sat down on the ground to rest his legs, sighing quietly, when he heard the leaves crunch behind him. He turned around quickly, seeing two Celestials, one with a bow and arrows, and the other with a longsword. One charged, and Sen grit his teeth, magic filling his arms as he struck the man in the chest with his claw. The celestial gasped, falling back as Unhily energy filled the wound. Sen looked up at the other, who let loose an arrow of holy light. The arrow grazed him, causing him to curse as he ran towards another tree, before lifting off into the air, and flying away. Multiple arrow shots came after him as Sen cast a spell, sending a pillar of flame, enhanced with dark magic, down onto the man, roasting him alive. Sen turned to see another Celestial, who came after him with a knife of holy magic, striking Sen with the blade in his wing. The wings disappeared, causing Sen to scream as he fell out of the sky. The Celestial grabbed him and shoved him down into the ground, knocking unconscious as he lay there.

A group of several more of Kassiel's underlings arrived, reporting in that they had completed their mission, and that the fiend was ready to take in. They lifted him up and took him back to the temple.

Kassiel returned back to Wynne after hearing of Sen's capture, his usual smile gone and replaced with a serious expression. "The fiend-bound has been found," he said quietly. "We will take him downstairs, and there, you can fight him. As much as I would love to have you just kill him while he sleeps, this is so we know you can take on a fiend. And besides, as an Abyssal, he deserves to suffer rather than go peacefully, don't you agree?" He rested a small hand on her shoulder, leading her to a trapdoor behind the fountain in the center of the room and taking her down it, into a large, ivory-colored room, one of the sides with a row of raised seats, which Kassiel and a few other Celestials flew up to sit by. He cast a spell once up there, created a shield just in case Sen tried anything on them.

Wynne stood on one end of the arena, and waited.
