Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Wynne stared with wide eyes, moving to the edge of her bed as she stared at the flame. The look on her face was a strong, potent mix of recognization, horror, and fear.

She sat in her bedroom, cross-legged as she read quietly- an old religious text, far outdated and in a language written with words her eleven-year-old couldn't really understand, but she found something in them to distract her anyways. Unfortunately for her, it had distracted her a little too well, so she hadn't heard when the door opened.

"Wynnesteria? What are you doing?"

Wynne suddenly snapped her head up, murmuring a soft curse word she probably wasn't supposed to know. "Jist readin', Auntie," she said, unable to keep the worry from her voice, a red alarm her aunt knew far too well. She squeezed her eyes shut as her aunt lumbered into the room, leaning over her shoulder and taking the book from her hands. The child didn't fight back as her aunt scanned the text, before slamming it shut, and Wynne couldn't help but cringe as she heard the book go up in flames.

"Come on, Wynnesteria, I think it's time we discipline you again."

She didn't even fight to stand up as she was dragged downstairs by her wrist, where her aunt lit the fireplace, looking down at her expectantly. "You know what to do."

Wynne stared into the flames quietly, but did not move, even after being instructed again. With a huff, her aunt pulled the cattle whip from her waist and pulled Wynne's skirt up, landing a hard whip on her thighs that caused tears to prick in Wynne's eyes. And she did it again and again, until Wynne was watery-faced and muttering incoherent prayers, barely hearing as her aunt spoke again. "Well? Are you going to listen or not? Or do I have to force you to listen myself?"

The child only choked on another sob, before holding up her hand, squeezing her eyes shut, but from there, it felt as though she couldn't move. With a frustrated sigh, her aunt grabbed her wrist and forced it into the flames, causing Wynne to scream and cry out while her aunt counted down from three. She screamed and fell back, holding her hand and gasping for air through her tears.

"Don't come out of your room until supper. And keep that crying down, we might have guests tonight. I expect you to use your manners as always."

Wynne blinked rapidly before coming to, only to realize mere seconds had passed, and now, the wings of fire were gone. She took a deep breath, before slowly nodding. "Aye... aye, 'at is interestin'," she said emptily, rubbing her eyes and clearing her throat, before sighing and lying back on her bed, looking out the window with a sigh.

He looked back and saw the expression on her face - fear. He blinked as his wings folded under his clothes, out of sight, the hellish warmth soothing on his sore back. He looked at her with a slightly anxious expression, before looking back at the window. "You... know. Maybe, I'll just... take these for a spin." He put his cloak and extended his wings. Thanks to their immaterial nature, they could extend through his clothes. He opened the window and looked out. It was almost evening, but few people were out. He climbed up to the roof of the hotel, before giving his wings a few test flaps, then jumped off the roof of the building. His wings extended out fully and he flew. He looked up at the Celestial sky, folding his wings so he could land on another building. He looked up and readied himself, before he blasted off into the sky, leaving a streak of flames behind him as he rocketed into the sky.

She didn't respond as he left, staring up at the ceiling quietly, before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. There was no point in thinking back to all of that, it would be too painful, and she knew that, and it didn't really matter now that she was gone. There was little chance that her aunt would come to Celestia of all places just to find her- she had been a burden to them, and they had made that incredibly clear.

She sighed softly and rubbed her face, before getting up and walking to the washroom in silence, and she didn't come out for a long while.

Sen returned through the window, his hood back and his hair windblown and messy. His wings had seemingly dissipated as he closed the window and looked around quietly, before sighing and sitting down on the ground, closing his eyes. His wyvern appeared as his body tinged with the blueish-white aura, lightning sparking around his body. His wyvern sat on his shoulder as his magic supply quickly replenished.

Wynne came out of the washroom approximately an hour after she had entered, the hot water long ago used up as she rubbed her pink-flushed face. Her skin felt hot and sensitive and sore after being under the extreme temperatures for so long, so she had found a newfound appreciation for her warm clothes as she left. She blinked as she saw the wyvern, before sitting down in front of Sen and holding her finger out to the wyvern to see what he would do.

The wyvern looked at her finger before hopping onto it, purring and clicking up at her, before extending its wings and flying up to her head and pressing its feet into her head, retracting her talon. He clicked and purred quietly, alternating which foot it was pressing down with. Sen watched with a small sigh. "He's kneading you..."

Wynne blinked, before breaking into a smile and laughing softly. "The bairn's practically a moggie wi' scales. Et's amazin'." She smiled and shook her head, before jumping as she felt the cloth of her headpiece move back over her hairline, and quickly stopped the headpiece from falling and taking the small wyvern with it. "Hey, hey, watch th' cloth, watch it, ye scunner." Sighing, she moved the cloth more securely over her hairline, sighing softly.

The wyvern leapt off her hair, floating down onto the ground, purring and clicking pleadingly up at Sen. Sen whistled back, laughing, and replying in common. "NO, you would break the hotel room." He whistled and clicked and the wyvern made a sound something like a sigh, jumping back onto Wynne's arm and flying up to sit in her shirt, purring contentedly.

Wynne blinked as Sen and the wyvern exchanged again, her curiosity piqued, but didn't say anything until the wyvern flew into the top shirt, a sleeveless corset-style made of thick, stiff cloth. She looked down at him, then covered her mouth and snorted, trying to hold back her laughter. "Aye, Ah guess that's a body way tae make them swatch bigger." She shook her head and rubbed her finger on the wyvern's snout gently, smiling.

Sen snorted, covering his mouth to hide his smile as the wyvern purred and closed its eyes, radiating warmth against her skin. Sen sighed and looked up as the wyvern fell quietly asleep, locking eyes with her. "...If I can ask...were your relatives abusive?" His words were soft as he looked at her.

She blinked and looked at him quietly, silent, before breaking from his gaze to look down at the sleeping creature, quiet. "Maybe. Depends, wa dae ye want tae ken?" Her voice had a defensive edge to it, as did her eyes when she looked back up at him, her face turning cool, despite the return of fear and vulnerability sheeted just behind her stone-faced facade.

He shrugged lightly, making a little flicker of Aetherist magic in his hands, which flickered and blinked like lightning before fading away. "You're not the only one who had to suffer for something they could not control." He sighed quietly, continuing to play with his raw magical powers. The mana was raw and volatile, dangerous, but Sen seemed to pay no mind to its dangerous qualities, playing quietly.

Wynne sighed softly and closed her eyes, her face softening before she slowly nodded. "...Aye, Ah suppose they waere a tad harsh. Ah wooldnae really hae anythin' tae compare it tae, but Ah dooubt th' fire was necessary. An' it woods hae bin nice tae lae home every ance in a while." She smiled bitterly, taking a small inhale and beginning to rub her finger along the back of the wyvern's neck to calm herself a little. "Nothin' worth talkin' abit. Aam nae there anymair, an' willnae ever be again, sae fa gi'es a shite?"

"The fire?" He tilted his head. "Ah, so they burned you. Mine as well." He gave a small nod before whistling to the wyvern, who flew over, trilling as it perched on his shoulder, digging its talons in to keep stable. Sen didn't seem to notice as he stared off into space, the red glow around his body vanishing and fading away.

Wynne sighed in relief to have the wyvern off of her chest, lying back on the floor and sighing. "Ahh, Ah hae tae wake up early as heel tomorrow night.
