Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Sen grumbled quietly and rubbed his eyes as he finally rolled sleepily out of bed and slowly stood up, walking towards the washroom. He cleaned up and put on his cloak, assembling a disguise and a story in the bathroom. He walked out quietly and sar on the bed. "Is your cover story ready?" His voice was quiet as he played with a bit of Aetherist aura, the Shroud sitting on his arm as his Effusion became active.

Wynne sighed and nodded. "Aye. Jist need tae gie 'at spell ready, an' we can finally take th' streets. Hopefully our inability tae their leid isnae tay much ay a red alarm. Ah'll try tae learn quick." She sighed softly and brushed out her clothing, stretching as she gave a small wave to the wyvern, sighing. "Then Ah can fin' somewhere tae make some gold. Closest tae an airtecht plan we've got, Ah suppose." She sighed, moving to go to the bathroom. "First, Ah hae tae make sure Ah hae thes spell doown."

"Alright," he said quietly, rubbing his eyes with a small yawn. "Okay. Then, once you're ready, we'll get going." He sat on the bed, flipping up the hood of his cloak, so that it covered up all of his body. He quietly waited for Wynne to get her spe together so they could leave, feeling more than a little bit anxious.

Wynne stared at her reflection in the mirror before murmuring a soft spell, having to strain slightly to remember it. Slowly, it began to take effect- the irises of her green eye cooled to a soft ice color, and her pupils disappeared, leaving diamond-like orbs in place of her already light eyes. Her skin also paled, turning into a soft white with blue undertones, giving the effect of snow on what little skin she showed. She smiled, nodding slowly, and simply appreciative that it had worked. "Alrecht, aam guid tae gang. Let's heed it," she said, closing the washroom door and leaving the room quietly.

Sen flipped up his cloak and followed along behind her on the ivory streets. People still looked at him strangely, but he paid them no mind as he continued, his hood firmly secured over his face, the rest of his body covered.

After about a half hour of walking, the two arrived at the temple they had set out for. Sen looked up at it as it towered above them, the elegant architecture resembling a castle more than a tower. It was slightly secluded from the rest of the townshop, along a stone path through a small wooded area. The place was surrounded by nature, and the temple tiself was enormous, with four glittering towers that raised up to the sky. The temple was entirely golden, shining so brilliantly, Sen hsd to avert his eyes towards the entrance. There was a stone wall around the perimeter, but the gates to the compound were wide open - in fact, there were Celestial maidens tending to the garden outside. Sen swallowed and stepped forward into the compound, starting when one of the maids looked up at him. He coughed and shook his head. "Is this the Temple of Anahumisi?"

The Celestial garden maid replied in common tongue, to his surprise. "No, it is not, sire. What purpose do you have here, traveler? And your friend, as well?"

Sen quickly sorted out his story. "I am a pilgrim. I have wandered from the cities of the lowplane to come here and pray at the temple of Anahumisi. I have taken a vow to not reveal my face or name until I do so. My companion here, I just met. I have come to rest and attempt to sell some of my goods."

The maiden smiled kindly. "Ah, I see. Welcome to our humble temple, pilgrim. You may rest in the quarters as long as you'd like - we are kind to those of faith." She turned to Wynne. "And you, traveler? What is it you seek?"

Wynne was relieved when the maiden spoke in common rather than the Celestial speech, before the Celestial turned to ask her, and she swallowed. Her talk was slower than her usual hurried and slurred speech from her attempts at speaking normally, suppressing her accent to the best of her abilities. "Ah'm... I'm from another part, past the forests around here, and I have been following an Archangel's teachings by book for years, now. I wish to seek further training under his eye, if however possible, uhm... this is the correct place, yea?"

Before the maiden could respond, the tall gates of the temple opened, a blinding light reflecting off of the golden material, and a tall being of light with grand wings of white light and a golden halo just above his reddish hair. He looked across the garden, before his eyes rested on Wynne and Sen, and he smiled a little, striding over. Wynne could only watch with wide eyes.

It was him. The angel from her dreams.

She swallowed as he drew closer, before he stood over them, towering over Wynne by at least a foot, which made her feel a little more than a wee bit terrified.

"What seems to be the issue, here?" He asked, looking down at Wynne, before blinking. "Ah, I see. Don't worry about this, Diari, I will take care of these two." He shooed the maiden away and looked down at them, smiling softly.

"Ah, Wynnesteria Kyr, it is so wonderful to finally meet you."

Wynne's eyes widened, looking at him with wide eyes, and opened her mouth to speak, before he interrupted. "This is a... inadequate place to talk. Come, follow me inside. Your... friend can join us as well."

She stared as he began walking to the temple, looking at Sen and mouthing a What the [REDACTED], before beginning to follow him in.

"Well, before I begin rambling on to you about what I know without gauging your interest first, why don't we start with you two asking your questions, and we will build from there, yes? I assume there is A reason to you seeking me out, of cour-"

"Haw dae ye ken mah nam??" Wynne asked quickly, before the Archangel laughed and shook his head.

"I knew your mother well. We can most certainly discuss that more in depth... later," he said, nodding over subtly to the cloaked Sen, and Wynne nodded back, though it was obvious in her face she could barely contain her excited curiosity."However, I would like to know the reason as to why you have found yourself here. As far as I was last aware, you were still on Chaon. What brought you so far from there?"

Sen, who simply shrugged back to Wynne, followed the two inside, making sure to not reveal his face to anybody who they passed. They walked through the gardsn, into the temple itself, where the light filtered in through stained glass windows, casting everything in a golden light. Sen's eyes flicked up to the man, staying quiet. As far as he was concerned, he and Wynne just met, and he did not trust thid guy. Something about him seemed strsngely offputting - like how he had come as soon as he saw them. That he'd been watching Wynne for months and possibly knew his true identity.

Sen felt a pang of fear but shoved it down, gripping the claw on his belt. "Excuse me," he said quietly. "I wish to have a word with my conpanion, quickly." He pressed a hand to Wynne's shoulder and took her aside. "Do you know any telepathic spells?" He murmured quietly.

She blinked up at him, before slowly nodding. "Aye, Ah dae. It's jist difficult tae hauld up fur me, but uhm... Ah can try it. Wa, dae ye think we need it?" She looked up at the ceiling of the temple, and then looked around, taking it in. It was definitely the temple from her vision, and this angel had known her mother. That was all she really needed to know to be convinced, before looking back at Sen.

"I do. There are no reliable ways of communicating in this place. There are worshippers all around, even more in the sanctum up ahead." He looked around at the robed worshippers, of different races, some even lowplanars and elementals, who were milling around, taking care of daily business - cleaning, grabbing food, and preparing to pray. There were hallways on the left and right of the grand entrance hall that presumably lead to some sort of worship rooms. Cloaked Celestial women walked solemnly walked along the halls, their heads bent in reverent prayer. Sen looked ahead at the hallway that led to the main sanctum, where dozens of worshippers sat eating, conversing, and praying quietly. "You might be safe here, but I am not. They will not be kind to you either if they know you associate with a demon."

Wynne looked around, quiet, before sighing softly and nodding. "Fine, fine. Lit me just-" She closed her eyes, murmuring quietly as her fingers twisted awkwardly, before opening her eyes and looking up at Sen, speaking into his mind. There, is that better?

With a small huff, she looked back at the Archangel, who stood patiently waiting for them, and then looked back at Sen. "Come oan, we dornt want tae keep heem waitin'."

"Better," He mumbled quietly in her mind as he walked alongside her, nodding as they approached the Archangel. Sen hung back awkwardly, looking away as he waited for Wynne to talk with him. The Celestial's presence was slightly sinister, though he wasn't sure if that was the nature of the being himself, or simply his fiendish side reacting with hostility. Either way, he didn't want to find out.

Wynne explained how they had came to Celestia as vaguely as she could, keeping her voice down in case other people had heard, and conveniently leaving out Sen's fiendish transformation, and the Archangel simply nodded and sighed. "Well, that certainly sounds like an experience. Have no fear about staying here, I am able to grant you and your companion some immunity at the very least, so you should not have to worry about your disguise. A well done spell, might I add, it would have convinced me well had I not known you. And as for payment, you do not have to worry, I will provide you the money you need to stay, as well as whatever teachings you would like. As long as I am around, you are both welcome."

Wynne's grin grew wider as she nodded enthusiastically. "Aat's stoatin, thenk ye! Perfect, that's perfect. Weel, Ah suppose we'll tak' our lae fer noo, an' Ah'll come back tom- Oh! Ah nearly forgot tae ask, fa dae Ah owe th' cheers tae?"

The angel smiled and nodded. "Of course. My name is Kassiel. Now, off with you two, and I will be expecting you tomorrow bright and early, Wynnesteria. Good day." He waved them off, before turning to head away, and Wynne turned to Sen.

"Come oan, let's gie back. We're awl sit oan gold cheers tae Kassiel, sae Ah guess we're guid tae gang."

Sen kept on his hood and nodded quietly, following along with Wynne. He felt a little more relaxed, but was still extremely tense, looking around anxiously for any sign of danger. Fine, he answeted telepathically. Let's go back and figure out when the next rift opens. I plan on leaving as soon as possible. He began walking back, crossing his arms underneath his cloak, scanning for a place to sleep.

Wynne led him back to the inn and up to their room, sighing softly and dropping both spells with a sigh, her skin quickly warming up and her eyes returning to normal. She huffed softly and rubbed her eyes, shaking her head. "Weel, glad Ah went tae th' effort ay rememberin' 'at speel jist tae fin' it Ah willnae hae tae use it again. Stoat. Jist stoat." She laid back down on the bed and sighed, shaking her head and rubbing her eyes.

Sen sighed as he sat down on the ground, crossing his legs. "No, it'll still come in pretty good use," he said quietly. "Spells like that always do." He sighed and closed his eyes, leaning back against the floor and staring up at the ceiling, looking at his hands. If she could pick up two new spells in one day, why couldn't he?

He took off his cloak and armor and took a deep breath, feeling the inner flame spread out from within him. The warmth coiled along his body, before spreading to his hands. He opened his eyes and looked to see his hands coated in pure flame. He held up one hand and made a fist, and the flame around his fist closed as well. Now that is handy.

He felt his fiendish side begin to bubble as the claws were covered with a thin, barely visible aura of Unholy energy. It was too thin to be perceived, possibly because he was out of combat, but he still couldn't risk anything. He extinguished the flame, before looking inside himself again. He concentrated on his inner flame, but it was too small to muster anything stronger. He sighed and focused on his Aetherist side. Nothing new there either. Changing gears, he focused on his newly minted Fiendish bond, and was surprised to find that it had actually grown. He focused on it, drawing out the new power, when something suddenly exploded from his back.

Two large wings of flame exploded from Sen's back, folding around him, before extending outwards. The flame was dark red hellfire, but burned brilliantly, and Sen looked at them in shock, before grinning like a child. He looked around to see it hadn't burned anything and folded them in around him, touching his hand to the wing. It was warm, and a little sensitive, but it felt... good to touch it. He focused, and felt the heat of the flame on his hand. Luckily, thanks to his new fire immunity, it didn't hurt him, but he felt the flame engulf his hand. So, he could turn the burn on and off. That was good to know. He smiled and turned it off, bouncing on his toes. Could he actually fly with these wings? He wanted to test it out, but now was absolutely not a good time. He folded the wings back into his back and sighed. "Oh... man, that is... cool."
