| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Leo stepped back as Shugri stabbed and tackled the crocodile from above. He watched as she broke her weapon piercing the think scaly hide. She proceeded to wrangle it and hold it's mouth shut but the beast was not going down without a fight. He saw the blood from it's wound start to mix with water. It was dark, an arterial puncture, meaning she hit something vital. He did his best to time his swing in-between bouts of Shugri being rolled under and her holding it's maw to the sky, exposing his throat. He quickly caught on to her plan, and he needed to make sure she didn't get caught in the follow-though. Bracing himself he let loose a heavy swing, methodically using just enough force to cut his target and control the sword's momentum. It proved a difficult task with his weight sinking into the mud from the shifting. The tip of his blade connected and sheared the crocodile's throat, spraying blood for the pressure Shugri was producing by pulling back his mouth harder. The beast stopped trying to roll and drown his partner and just twitched for a few moments pulling it's body went limp. Leo heaved the massive blade onto his back and reached into the crocodile's mouth, breaking out a giant tooth. He wanted a trophy from his first predator kill. |

Shugri smiled, in between coughing up bits of swampy water. It seemed Leo took a trophy. Perhaps their people weren't as different as she thought. Or, at least, it showed something of a common ground. Once she had regained her breath, she looked down at the shattered remains of her spear. It looked like she would have to make another one, but at least this creature offered plenty of material. As she looked down at their prey, perhaps its skin would make good clothing, so long as it didn't get too loud or stiff once prepared. She grabbed the dead crocodile by the tail, and with a grunt of heavy effort, began dragging it to higher ground, her breathing heavy with exhaustion and exertion. Holding on to the beast had taken a lot out of her, but she had to get the meat somewhere where it could be stripped and cleaned. She powered through as best she could, and managed to get a little further upstream, where it was at least sturdy enough to make a small fire. She did so, moving a little slower than normal, as Shal-um scrambled to catch up, eventually hitching a ride on the back of the reptilian corpse. Once she had gotten a small fire going she pointed to the fire, then to nearby trees. "Leo hunt gnazh." <fire> She didn't know the word for it, and she was far too tired to try to mime it, she just hoped that he would understand that the fire would need more wood, quite soon. She plopped on the ground with a sigh, pulling a small piece of flint that been sharpened into a crude knife. She rolled over the corpse with a grunt, sweat rolling down her face. She began to cut it open along any soft spot on the underbelly she could find, trying to strip away the skin to get at the meat. She hadn't been able to much more than peel back the belly-skin, when she nodded off, knife still in hand, against the dead crocodile. Edited by Shugri, Sun Feb 18, 2018 2:43 pm.

Leo had sat down to catch his breath, the fight taking more out of him than he expected. He watched as Shugri began to haul the corpse. He heaved himself to his feet and slowly followed, his feet still sinking in the soft mud and dirt that surrounded the stream. At the location of the new camp Shugri decided on, Leo set his sword on the ground and loosened the straps on his armor. Shugri then began making motions to the fire then the trees. Did she need more wood for the fire? She looked worn out and unable to fully convey her meaning. He walked to the treeline and grabbed arm full of wood and walked back to fuel the fire. He noticed Shugri dozing off while cutting into the crocodile. He wasn't sure exactly how the meat would taste, if it had a taste at all. Not wanting to dwell on it he grabbed his canteen and took a drink of water and splashed some on his face to clear the sweat away. He turned to his orc friend, who ended up passing out. Chuckling he grabbed a small blade and took over cutting into the croc. If anything the hide would most likely fetch a fair price. He dug in the soft portions and began to try an separate the hard scaled hide from the rest of it. He had to be careful not to wake Shugri for she had her knife in-hand and would probably lash at him in reflex. Able to remove the rear leg after some effort, he went and sat back by the fire to begin prepping it. |

Shugri slowly stirred, her muscles aching like hell from her exertion of dragging the massive creature. She looked up, and saw Leo digging voraciously into a chunk of cooked crocodile. She looked down, and saw while the knife was still in her hands, several chunks of the creature were missing, and she didn't remember skinning quite as much as had been done. Maybe Leo had continued while she slept? She wiped the sleep from her eyes, and resumed cutting, trying to expose as much of the abdominal region as she could. She slowly peeled away as mana bits of meat as she could, wrapping them in the belly skin, and used a broken rib to scoot a glowing log to the side. She sat her wrapped meat on the hot embers, letting it slowly cook, while she got back to work on the remains. She managed to pop off a thicker piece of bone, and began grinding it on a rock to a point, slowly fashioning a new spear-tip. She wandered around the edge of the fire, until she found a branch of suitable length and thickness, and began smoothing it out to serve as the shaft for a new spear. Once that was done, she took her stone knife, and began cutting away sinews and tendons, twisting them into a cord, and used them to secure the bone tip to the end of the freshly notched spear shaft. She then held it over the fire, far away enough to keep it from cooking, but letting the heat dry out excess moisture. Once that was done, she used her new spear to help lift the wrapped meat from the fire, and peeled back the skin, revealing several chunks of cooked crocodile. Once she had eaten her fill, she set about cleaning and skinning what was left, eventually making a crude tabard from the back of the gater, and wrapped the crocodile skull to make a thin pack, using straps of leather to secure it to her person. She never spoke during this time, focused intently on her work. Once this was done. she carried the remains piece by piece away from the fire, so as to not attract animals too close. She then looked at Leo, and pointed around, shrugging. "Leo, Shugri, amal-u?" <Where to?> |

Leo was rather impressed that Shugri could craft her own garments and gear, especially as a child. Making food was one thing, but knowing how to strip and save hides was an art to hunters. He finished his meal and donned his armor again. He still wasn't too use to the weight yet, and his weapon made his body heavier. Leo figured it was about time he set out to find his way back home, regardless of what awaited him. He looked over to Shugri who pointed around and shrugged at him. Maybe he could take her with him to Taras. It would do her some good to expose her to more language and what the city had to offer. She could even find work as a trapper and sell hides. He pointed west, indicating his intended direction. "Shugri, Leo, west." Hoping she understood him he grabbed his belongings and motioned for her to follow as he set out. |
