Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Malam drank deeply from the bottle of whiskey he bought, forgoing a glass just to get the entire thing into his system as fast as he could. Malam had not gotten the best of news lately, his wife... no, his ex-wife was still refusing to let him even see his kid. He had paid the prices, he had even gotten a court order, he had paid the necessary amount of money, waited the necessary amount of time, he had character witnesses from both the Balefire Guard and dozens of other people he worked with or for, she had no way of stopping him... and then she simply said 'no' and refused to show up to court.

He had hoped that meant he would win by default... but a single letter was all it took to delay it further, the woman claimed the baby was sick and as such she could not leave for court or bring the babe with her. Malam agreed to a new date, but he had a feeling a new sickness or disease would take hold of the child or her, she would delay, lie, claim she had been stolen from, anything to stop her from losing her only bargaining chip with him.

He finished the bottle and tossed the notes on the table, paying for the drink and tipping the barmaid. He stumbled outside, taking his weapon from the tavern guard. He strapped the nodachi onto his back and tried to move on down the road, he fell to the side into an alley. He put a hand on the wall and bent over, puking up some of the alcohol he had drank. He wiped the corners of his mouth with his black shirt sleeve. His clothes were simple, a black long sleeved shirt, an old red jacket that was a bit to small for him, black boots, and black pants. His hair was slicked back with a few forelocks hanging in front of his face.

He looked to the side, wiping the hair from his eyes, a few brutes were looking at him, the tallest of them strode forward, hand outstretched, "Need help gettin' home drunk? A few notes and we'll make sure to get you someplace warm." The other two grinned and stood up.

Malam rolled his eyes, "Nah, I need the money, gotta pay my duesh and all that, now if you'll excushe me I need to... to..." He stopped and felt another wave of nausea, this time vomiting all over the man's shoes. A shout of rage was all it took and Malam felt a fist impacting with the side of his head. He collapsed to the ground, shaking his head slowly as the other two took out short clubs. Malam groaned as he tried to stand up, saying aloud, "This is why I shouldn't drink."

Iris glowered as she thumbed through her coin purse. Paying rent had made it light. She wandered out of her district aimlessly in search of cheap food so that she could avoid a trip to the market. The streets were colder than normal, cold enough even the hasenka had resorted to a long double-breasted coat that went just about to her knees. It hid her axes as well, although the guards and sheriffs wouldn't pay her much mind even if she was visibly armed.

An injury in her shoulderblard smarted with each step. The fighter Great Throwing Master Aizu had done quite a number on her before she finally put him down with a headbutt. Her head sported a large enough bruise that she had concealed that with a hat. She found an eatery quickly enough - one in a human district - and took a long look at the sign. "The flat-faced dog? Sounds...curious." She muttered to herself. She went to step in until she head the noise of someone spilling their drink. She peered around the building and into the adjacent alley. Two men were cornering a drunk.

"Oh, are you mugging him?"

"Ain't a muggin' if he's dru-" Iris walked up as if she was curious and promptly headbutted the speaker into the grime and frosty muck that made up the floor of the alley.

Someone came to help? ... Maybe, this is Balefire after all, she may just be taking out competition and mug him herself. He grunted and stood up, a wave of nausea swept over him, but he managed to keep it down, the cold, the pain, the taste of blood in his mouth, he was sobering up, not fast enough for his liking... but hey, that just meant getting hammered all over again.

The others were saying something to the girl... good. She went and smashed one in the face with a headbutt, one of them raised a club, only for Malam to stumble forward and tackle him. The two of them fell to the ground, Malam barely kept enough balance to stay on top and once he situated himself onto the thug's chest, he had pinned the man's arms with his legs... that was when he just started punching. With each punch came a renewed sense of nausea, that was when a club smashed into the back of his head, right, there were two others, even if one had fallen down he'd be back up.

He saw stars as he was flung off the downed man. He turned his head and retched again as he started to stand up, adrenaline was burning through the fuzzy feeling he had. He began to grit his teeth as he looked to the girl, his mind clear enough to say, "I owe ya one." With that said he widened his stance, ready to continue the fight.
