| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It had been a long day, working his little ring, taking on all comers, using what money he had to help pay for anyone that got a bit to banged up, and the rest went to the necessities, food, water, cleaning his costume, and now... he had just enough left over for a night of drinking. The people there gave him a wide berth, leaving him alone at a table as he drank from his mug of ale, but to him this was normal, so few people actually knew about the Mountain Top dwarves, they were so incredibly different from those Below the Mountains, not that he knew much about them to begin with other than that they lived underground and had a vastly different set of ideals and culture. He waved down a barmaid and ordered another ale, he had made quite a bit of money from his theatrics through out the day, he figured even if he had a heavy night of drinking he would have enough money to buy his way into a caravan for easier travel to the next settlement. Once his mug of ale came he raised it up, "To those that live with honor." He drank it with a smile on his face, tonight was a good night. |

Kellen made a nice change of pace from the Broken Cliffs, and Snellopy didn't mind the occasional outing there, to "help out old Letty," as it were. If ever asked exactly how he was aiding the Ivory League, the dwarf would point to the various victuals and tipples that he'd order and send back to the township. Goat and tunnel quail were alright to nosh on, but occasionally you wanted to mix it up a bit. An army (of bureaucrats, it must be said, but still...) marches on its stomach, and you could do a lot worse than taking Snellopy Stonewill as your yardstick of what the average bloke in the street would enjoy. It wasn't unusual for some drinking establishments to also have fights--those put on for the enjoyment of patrons... not the Oi, you spilt my drink! kind--but they weren't really Snellopy's style. Until this trip, that is... He'd been balancing a wheel of cheese on top of a ham hock with a few flagons of a new batch of mead slung over his shoulder when he'd seen an enthusiastic, costumed dwarf hamming it up, leaping about in a small ring and obviously enjoying himself, even when he was copping a drubbing. Snellopy had paused for as long as he could, then raced off to drop off the supplies and sprinted back, but the show was over by the time he returned. That evening, Snellopy was making his way from the bar of the Green Gryphon, looking for a seat. He had two tankards clutched in one hand--to save on walking--and a chicken leg in the other. He stopped and gaped at a figure at a table in an emerald green mask. "Here, you're that Smiling Mask, aren't you, mate? You put on a corker of a show, mate!" With that he started to chant, raising his hands in unison, only spilling a little "Lucha! Lucha! Lucha-DORE! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha-DORE!" He plonked the drinks down on the table. "These are for you, mate, and more if'n you want them. I couldn't stay for yer whole show earlier, but I'd love to show me appreciation, now!" OOC |

The dwarf that joined him offered him a drink and chanted a bit, explaining he had watched part of his show. Smiling Mask kept his smile nice and wide as he offered the man his hand to shake, "Aye, thank you for the compliment friend. I am indeed Smiling Mask and I will only take the one offered. Dwarven Vow number three, don't depend on others. Walk on your own two legs. Can't let someone else buy for me to much." He looked at the dwarf, he hadn't seen many of them, just one in the swamp and the rest in his hometown near the mountaintops of the Gwilikith Mountain range. From his clothes and equipment, it wasn't hard to tell he wasn't from the groups living at the mountaintops. Smiling Mask nodded, "I'm guessing you're not familiar with the mountaintop dwarves and to be honest I have no idea where you came from friend and I am eager to learn more about other dwarves, my ma always told me the other dwarves were vastly different from our own mountaintop dwellers." He readjusted himself in his seat and took a long swig of the offered drink, "Care to share some knowledge of your own dwarven-kin? Also your name my fellow kin?" |

The cleric smacked himself in the forehead. "Where are me manners, mate! The name's Snellopy Stonewill, Rune-caster of Kern" he wiped his hand absentmindedly on his pantsleg and stick it out to shake. "I"m not exactly from around here..." he said, waving a hand vaguely about, implying Kellen but meaning Chaon, though the point was moot. "Doesn't really matter, though, dwarves is dwarves... mining, whacking things with axes, smithing, and boozing, all cross any boundaries easily enough, mate." He took a reflective pull of his beer. "Can't say I've been to a settlement such as you describe in my peregrinations, at least not what you'd call a dwarven one." Snellopy waved over a barmaid. "One for me, and..." he looked to the Smiling Mask if he wanted to order another. "It's a rambler's life for me, there isn't much of a flock, except where I've already been of course, but it's none so bad. What brings you out and about this big wide world, mate?" |

It seemed his new friend Snellopy was a wanderer just like himself, even their dwarven brethren they knew were similar, but he had a feeling that Snellopy's kin didn't jump around in tights and body slam people for sport. When he asked Smiling Mask why he was traveling, he grinned broadly, "I came from my mountain home to spread the virtues of the Dwarven Vows my people use and to spread Lucha Libre, high flying masked wrestling. Every dwarf up on the mountain has some training in it, lots of jumping. I'm just trying to bring a bit more hope and light in this world. Dwarven Vow Number Nine, even a small star shines in the darkness. I figure ain't much smaller than a dwarf so I just gotta shine all the brighter to live up to Dwarven Vow Number Five, Justice and Love will always win." He raised his mug in salute to his new friend before drinking it, "So my friend, we are both fellow wanderers and you've likely been at it a fair bit more than I have. You know of any place that could use a bit more light to give people hope?" |
