Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Meave disliked being in the city. In fact she detested it. It was so crowded and she felt so out of place through that could be due to her attire being out of place rather than the fault of the city. She did have a second attire made of gloomwood leather that was dyed black in her backpack through she had bought it as she was told she had to hide in darkness along with a cloak given to her by her master that allowed her to hide easier.

Unfortunately the guy she had contacted had barely given her any information regarding the task other than she would be contacted at a tavern called Gnomish Hat and the reward money. While she didn't exactly like the idea of having a job in the city the money had been good and it seemed like a mission where she could utilize her skills.

Slowly making her way into the tavern she instictively squeezed her nose and sat at a table in the corner before starting to wait while scanning the area to find the person that was supposed to contact her and tell her what to do. After a few minutes she sighed and murmured:"Maybe i should have gone with a mission that involved skirmishes."

The clatter of coins. The groans that followed. Alexandra Brie Marne grinned ear to ear, her lone eye twinkling. "Oh my I guess no one here is winning my gold piece. You had five rounds and didn't take a single coin from me." The heavy golden piece flicked from finger to finger, one of the old Balefiran pieces, big enough to feel like a proper piece of currency in a werewolf's hands. She secreted it away and rose with her winnings with a grin. "Better luck next time?"

The cloaked figure behind Alex giggled and the pair took a quick glance across the tavern. "The elf. Clearly one without attachment." Alex nodded in agreement. She strode across the tavern. Spurs clacked at each step. A cloak rested over one arm, with a thick fur collar. Alex pulled out a chair at the elf's table and sat, leaning back. The hooded figure waited behind.

"Hey. I've got a job for you." The rumble of the tavern became strange. At once silent and urgent as the patrons took to warning the elf.

"She's an agent."
"A weapon of the Ethereal."
"A bounty hunter for evil."

"I don't carry much on me, but I can deliver rewards unlike any other. Gold. Fame. Nearly anything." She tipped stormbrim hat back. A lone, ice blue eye peered out from beneath the cloak. A gaze that could penetrate steel. Her eyepatch was embroidered nicely and would have perhaps even been fashionable if paired with a proper dress and not the garb Alex had chosen. "I don't hide who I am. They've told you. I just need one more warm body for tonight's reclamation. Someone without much of an identity in this town."

She had ended up ordering some porridge due to being told to either order something or get out and she slowly ate her porridge while continuing to survey the area through after looking at the food she decided to leave if nothing happened before she finished her food. That was when she was approached by the gambler woman.

While she didn't really care for the warnings of people she didn't know she had a terrible feeling about this with her gut saying she was being set up as a bait but she did want to bring gold to the mercenary group as a way to prove herself and possibly get praised. The previous person she talked to was sketchy to but he had seemed like someone that wanted her to do something illegal instead of seeming like he was setting her up for a fall.

A few seconds of silence passed as Meave tried to decide whether to continue this path. In the end her wish for money won over how suspicious this woman sounded and she said:"Okay. What do you need me to do exactly?" while wondering whether the gloomwood leather she got from the group and the elven cloak she got from her master would end up getting used. Not that she wanted to break the law but there was the sense of disappointment that came with misunderstanding the objective.

Alexandra smiled wide. "I've got a reclamation to make. There's a man who traded his arm to the Ethereal in return for healing another. Now, we here at Shouldn't Have Made A Deal reclamation don't believe in harming the innocent party. No, someone who trades his arm had better not use any of the good ol' tricks. He got us good: he traded a damn random human's arm instead of his own. How? We don't know." Alex rapped her fingers on the table. "Since I've gotten some local help, let's go over it. We could nab him at the Voigrau casino or at, well, his workplace. Which is a tad bit...military." Alex glanced around the tavern. "I can be more specific outside of the tavern of course."

Meave really wanted to scratch her head due to the confusion regarding the job but in the end she nodded along. She assumed ethereals were some sort of spirits that ate flesh and nabbing meant abducting someone through she didn't really understand how they would abduct a person from a crowded place like a casino or a workplace. Clearly it would attract less attention if it was done at the street but this person had a plan. Probably.

She said:"So where do you want to talk about it?" assuming the woman had somewhere to use as a headquarters or at the very least somewhere where she could go to talk to people without being heard through to be fair she didn't have the slightest clue about how espionage worked so she could very well be wrong and there could be different methods for sharing details.Producing a few coins to pay for the food she got she stood up and prepared to follow the woman to outside to wherever she may lead.

Alex chuckled as she rose and lead the elf out of the building. They walked for a while as a trio before Alex lead them into a small city garden and leaned against a tree.

"I'm Alexandra Marne, a member of the Wine River Pariahs and an Agent of the Ethereal." There was never much of a response from the elf when she said the word ethereal. "The Ethereal is a plane attached to our own. It deals in secrets, blood, luck and other things. The man I'm targeting, Colton Hanz, gave his arm for the healing of another's illness. I didn't pry, much. But the arm was not Colton's. The deal is immutable, so we aren't going to make the healthy sick. We are taking Colton Hanz's arm. Not his life, his arm." Alex grinned. "I've got a hell of a job, huh? So Colton frequents Voigrau Casino, which would be an easy enough mark - luck is but a plaything to me - or his workplace, the Seventh Division Grizzly Depot. You know, Grizzlies? Those huge golems? Yea, he's the head mechanic for the Seventh Division's depot." She leaned forward. "You still want in? Oh, by the way, that is Mira. A much smaller, flimsier golem."

"Don't go comparing me to those inelegant, inch-of-steel types." The hooded figure scoffed. "This is taking away valuable time from he-" Alex glared at the caped figure. "So, give me your name and I'll give you a quite a bit of help. I just need someone who doesn't look like me. I'm a bit infamous. You'll draw attention away from me, and I can make the magic happen. Ever wanted to make a hundred gold in a night? Voigrau is the place. But if you want it quick and dirty, I imagine the depot would be a bloody place indeed."

After a brief consideration Meave finally decided on the work place as she would probably be too overwhelmed in the casino to actually manage to stay calm let alone properly finishing the job. "I am still in. My name is Meave and i believe grabbing him at the work place would work better." while choosing to disregard the bloody place comment as she hoped to have this handled as covertly as she could.

She then added:"So when are we applying the plan?Depending on it i will be switching to a gloomwood leather suit and get myself an elven cloak. Also if we have time can you explain to me exactly what you can do?" This was a job where she was probably end up having to rely on this golem at one point and she didn't really like the idea of someone describing their abilities as just magic.

"Gutsy! Fighting it is then." Alex responded. She chuckled. The golem began inspecting herself, revealing hints of white metal and the ornate mechanisms that drove her. "I...ah, I can toy with luck. In a moment, I can learn about a person. Name, history, what have you. On a personal level, I'm a former arcanist, I used to work for Itivari Shipyards in Cascadia. I built the bits of an airship's engine that allowed them all the Itivari acrobatics, high speed turns, rotations in place, the lot. Then shit happened and all I'm good for is my ability to blow things up. I'm a fire mage by trade now I suppose. I built her hull, too, because I'm not nearly strong enough to fight head on myself." Alex indicated Mira. The golem grumbled once more.

"And you keep drawing me on your little side-jobs. I'm sorry, Meave, but you've gotten in with a bad influence."

"But I'm paying well. I have spells that can destroy watch towers, crush the mightiest fortifications and, well, burn everything. But you think stealth will do? We'll have to leave Mira behind, there's no shrouding the noise she makes."
