Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Race
Earth Genasi

Sub-Race
Gemskull

Brief DescriptionGemskulls are a unique race of earth genasis so named for the production of various types of stone and gems in place of hair. Below their heads, their bodies are completely hairless but may sprout small clusters or patches of stone or gems in various places, usually around joints. It is rare and thus considered especially beautiful to possess crystallized (i.e. gem-like) eyes among the gemskulls. Contrary to popular belief, however, very few gemskulls have anything to do with mining; fewer still are jewelers. It is true that their town of roughly five hundred people was founded by dwarf miners and that earth genasis friendly to them emigrated only after they had settled, but the only significant tie to the dwarves (other than trade) that remained throughout their history is the use of various stones as currency (in place of coins or other means of payment). Trading is common, of course, and overseen by the Traders’ Guild, which is small and sparsely populated despite having members in Striberg, Cascadia, and Taras.

Gemskulls typically have tanned or earth-toned flesh and dark eyes. Other than this and their namesake racial traits, they are extremely varied. Some are as short as four feet tall, while others stand around a towering six feet; some are broad-shouldered and powerfully built, while others are lanky. Although not quite as rare as gem-like eyes, an uncommon trait among gemskulls is skin that resembles one variety of stone or another. One subtle trait of gemskulls, who aren’t usually known for their subtlety, is their lifespan; they tend to live for several hundred years, possibly a thousand or more. Precisely how long a gemskull can live is unknown, as they are often hunted by cave-dwelling mountain yuan-ti; yuan-ti prize gemskulls for their natural production, and while some are kept as slaves by yuan-ti, most are killed and “harvested”. Regardless of their potential lifespans, gemskulls age very slowly.

Iggie is a tanned youth just coming out of puberty. He stands just five feet tall and is somewhat awkward, having broad shoulders but an otherwise skinny body with compact muscles. The top of his head bears a slight growth of quartzite and dotted with crystal quartz; his shoulders and elbows have small growths of crystal quartz, while his knees bear quartzite. The knuckles and a small portion of the backs of his hands have the same mixture as atop his head. His eyes, though, are a humanoid brown.

Flaws
Curiosity
Iggie likes to know how things work. He can’t help it. He also can’t count the number of times he’s torn something apart only to realize shortly afterward that he has no idea how to put it back together. He is sometimes prone to asking a lot of questions…like…a lot of questions.

Inattentive
Being the intellectually prodigious youth that he is, Iggie possesses an unfortunate habit of distracting himself with random ideas, philosophical meanderings, or sudden inspiration for one invention of his or another (even if he hasn’t actually invented whatever it is yet).

Irritating PersonalityFor some reason, people tend to get annoyed by the simplest things - talking to one-self quietly in half-thoughts, for example, or humming a tune that apparently grates one’s nerves as though shredding cheese.
