Irriketh Rothrens Gender - Male Age - 22 Species - Celestial Human Class - Magic Fighter Occupation - Vagrant Nationality - Seinuhanaru Primary Element - Holy Secondary Element - Holy ![]() Irriketh stands tall yet at a modest height and walks confidently as a result; holding his shoulders back with each straight footed step. Two ear poke through strands of white. They form a slight point but not as pronounced as it would be on an elf. The hair resting atop his head is short and pure white. Each end shows a flicker of silver from a rouge fire that singed each thread to its current length. Once they would cover his eyes; now the pair of golden spheres glow, unblocked, with the taint of holy mana. They're wide open with a sharp glint that hints at his curious determination. When he smiles, pearly white teeth peak out from full lips. He wears gilded robes made of fine snowy silk. They come in two parts: The top flows to the waist leaving the chest exposed, a silver leather jerkin covers bare skin, sleeves trimmed with gold end at the wrist flaring out into golden cuffs. The lower part forms straight fitted white pants that end at the shin where they are tightly wrapped to the ankle and end with white leather sandals. Most of his clothing is burned and torn like a wondering vagrant. Personality Irriketh isn't much of a serious type, neither is he a joker. He believes harsh words to be constructive. Little gets him down because he finds the joy in life and it’s important, in his mind, that others experience the same happiness. He surrounds himself with friends and is more associated with melancholy acquaintances because some part of him feels a need to help while also understanding an outward appearance doesn't always show a person's true thoughts. Though joyful times bring the best out of him, it's easy for the man to fall into a slump. The effect of watching his kindred fall to invading forces has taken it's toll. History [For a full history of Irriketh follow this link: Empty] Orucsius, the kingdom of it's holy idol Yiurisel, erected many centuries ago to nurture a city of soldiers called the Seinuhanaru. Their ultimate intention being to protect the celestial plane. Here the citizens live dual lives: one of an average humble sort while the other is a silent allegiance to protect their hallowed goddess and her home. Much time had passed since their creation. Numerous kings held a throne beside Yiurisel. The line of successors to this honored royalty ended with the death of Lord Hirrikan's son and wife. Holy sages tried to save them but magic could not resurrect them for an abysmal force had tainted their bodies. So, Hirrikan wept for the lost souls of his beloved. Ready to give up the sovereignty and leave the celestial planes. Yiurisel blessed him with a visit to the wake of his dearest companion and infant offspring. She asked Hirrikan one question "Whom do you love the most?" The query was too much for the sad king. His lips did not move and Yiurisel understood it was a difficult choice. Sensing his uncertainty, she walked up to the honored dead and looked them both over from behind her blindfold. Yiurisel a being of immortality and immense knowledge looked upon their infinite futures but not for long for she had already seen them. With the blindfold removed, she brought the child up into her arms. The young Irriketh looked much like a baby sleeping contently. His eyes raised with the guidance of her fingers. Lifeless silver eyes gazed into her golden soul. Slowly his turned the same colour and brilliance. Born again the child silently fell asleep. Hirrikan rushed to the goddess causing a startled reaction. She turned to look him in the eyes: something that hadn't happened since the first Lords. She turned away quickly. The band of cloth covered her eyes on it's own. Irriketh was placed in his mother's arms and Hirrikan stood, dazed, as Yiruisel left. Seven years passed since the death and resurrection of Irriketh. The events kept secret and hailed as a baffling unforseen miracle. Hirrikan had grown into a reclusive lord of the people and by association, his son. There house was quiet, not unusual for the Rothrens' manor. Irriketh sat outside a pair of onyx doors waiting for his father to finish an important meeting. He was reading poetry for children when they slowly opened. Three figures entered from the chamber. Hirrikan, Fuisoishi, and Umiokiton. The two guest were husband and wife; the heads of the Mo'Koi family. Following their short strides was a young girl named Umikuishi. They exchanged quick nervous glances at one another. Hirrikan bid them goodbye with a dignified bow, his long aged hair flowed over his shoulders. The discussion was kept secret until Irriketh's eighth birthday. "What!?" Exclaimed young Irriketh. "I don’t need to marry anyone... I'd rather be alone like you father." Hirrikan had never lain a single mistreating hand upon his son until then. The slap across his adolescent face left a red mark and snappy echo in the room. The conversation was leading towards a darker trail. "Child," Echoed the father's voice, suppressing the reverberating claps around them. "You know not of a man and woman's union. Without it you would not be here today. Mother and wife are not words you have known and won't know till you yourself become a father." He sat down next to his son and placed a caring hand on the burning red cheek. "Marriage is a wonderful thing but also isn’t something to rush. You and Umikuishi will learn to love one another. On the day of your wedding you will look back on this moment and understand the choices I have made for you." Irriketh pushed away his fathers hand a ran. Hirrikan did not follow but let the young ward flee from the house. The woods surrounding the estate harbored Irriketh and his anger. Plants were torn and low hanging limbs broken to be used as tools for punishing the trunks of trees. From behind came a soft voice that said "Hello." Irriketh turned to see a young girl with short white hair and dark eyes. Unique for almost all the Seinuhanaru had a light white colour. The only families that varied were the Rothrens and Mo'Koi. "Hello..." Said the young girl one more time. "Hi." Irriketh replied. He tossed the branch to the ground and began walking away. Umikuishi followed at a distance. They both walked deeper and deeper into the woods. Irriketh slowly picked up his pace until they were both running. Finally a chase ensued. Umikuishi was fast, faster than Irriketh, but stayed at least four feet behind him. They played their game of chase until finally one ran out of breath. The Rothrens boy stopped under a bruised tree to catch his breath. Umikuishi stopped as well, her chest rising and falling gently. "Go away!" He exclaimed in a breathy voice. "I was told to follow you." She replied. "Do you always do what you're told?" He said. Umikuishi walked up to him and took a seat, resting against the tree. Irriketh took the spot next to her. His golden eyes looked into her darkened iris and he said bluntly "I'm not going to marry you." "You will." She looked away as she said it. Her tiny hands grabbed at the grass. "Father says it was destined." "Grownups lie." "Not always." The reply came as the grass lifted from the ground. "Sometimes the truth sounds like a lie." Irriketh was becoming frustrated. "I don't need a wife to be king." "How about a friend?" Umikuishi opened her hand to release the grass. The wind picked each blade, making them dance across the air. "I already have friends." He lied. "No you don't, father says you never leave or play with anyone." She was making a fair point and Irriketh had nothing left to say. They sat there, silent, watching the shadows of the tree sway. It was peaceful and for once Irriketh didn't feel lonely. The estate was void of children and chatter. Hirrikan didn't care much for socializing. Finally the silence broke. "You can be my friend" He said ",but I won't marry you." The Mo'Koi girl looked down to hide her smile, brushing her hand over the ground. Her life was also a solitary one. Where her parents were social butterflies, they were also protective hawks. They forbid any friendship with the common folk and anyone bellow their stations. "I'll be your wife one day but I can be your friend for now." Normally children began their training at twelve. Picking a school and art form to practice their martial prowess. Umikuishi found herself starting at the age of ten while Irriketh was forbidden to pick up a sword until his fifteenth birthday. By then, Umikuishi had left to journey the planes in search of the sacred elementals. Most wait until their seventeenth birth ceremony to leave but the Mo'Koi had higher aspirations for their daughter. She would return on her seventeenth a fully fledged warrior and avatar of the elements. Irriketh regarded her as friend. They rejoiced and celebrated but the Rothrens boy felt cheated. His father wouldn't allow Irriketh to begin the journey until he was a man and even then it would be a full four years before his journey bagan. The chamber of golden pillars glowed with the sun's light. Steps of white marbled lead to the kings throne where Hirrikan stood, sword drawn. Yiurisel, as custom, had her place beside the king. She took a blade of glowing white and cut into her hand. Blood, if it was blood, poured out like a river of light into a golden chalice. "Drink of my blood and receive my blessing." Then came a servant in white to present Irriketh the cup. "May the darkness give way." With the goblet in hand, he brought the rim to his lips. "and evil flee before you." Slowly he drank. The nectar was sweet and rejuvenating. His skin began to glow a bright white. It disappeared as the chalice emptied. Hirrikan appeared before him, sword raised. "As you embark on this quest, honor those ancestors whom returned and remember those few that perished." Hirrikan lowered the back sword and held it out to Irriketh palms flat. He looked deep into his son"s eyes. It seemed as if he had something eating at him. "Take this sword and with it forge your path forward." Irriketh stood to accept the sword with gratitude. "I won't let you down father." The old lord looked sad. Irriketh sheathed his new weapon and placed his hand on his father's shoulder. "Father..." He said fondly. "I-" The sentence was cut short as the two men burst into the chamber. "My liege, the city in under attack!" Fire raged outside. The king looked away from his son and started forward. "Irriketh, you will accompany me." Hirrikan took a sword from the guard. "No," Stated Yiurisel. "He will stay here with me. You may take my guards but your son must remain." Hirrikan stopped at the threshold and turned to face the mighty goddess. "Th-The..." He let out a sigh through the nose. Irriketh and Hirrikan looked at one another. There were words unspoken between the two. "My lady, I can fight. I vowed to defend you as a soldier would his queen." Irriketh drew his sword and walked towards his father. "Stay young Irriketh. Your father will handle things." Yiurisel beckoned him back with a wave of the finger. Irriketh looked upon Hirrikan who turned to leave. The doors shutting behind the warriors whom followed. There came a thick cloud of silence that hung in the room. Yiurisel appeared behind Irriketh. "There is a ship filled with young, old, and feeble. You will eacape with them." Irriketh turned to face her. "Why evacuate? This is a foolish venture for glory, nothing more." Yiurisel shook her head. "This is more than a surprise attack. The kingdom and I will fall. I have seen it." "Then you see a way to lead us towards victory?" "It must be this way." Yiurisel turned towards the wall at the far back. "Follow me child." Irriketh followed, pondering her words. 'Why would she allow this?' He thought. "One day you will understand the choices I have made." Her words were reminiscent of Irriketh's father's all those years ago. The wall fell at her touch, exposing a hidden alcove. Irriketh followed the path alone while Yiurisel sealed the entrance behind him. The darkness enveloped him. It was a long walk, the tunnel twisted and turned sometimes widening or narrowing at seemingly random points. Finally an opening came. The harbor came into view. Irriketh dropped from a hole dug into the side of a hill. There were three ships tightly packed. Irriketh shamefully took a seat on the third and last to leave port. The assault on Orucsius turned the city into a smoldering heap. Slowly it began to fade to be replaced with a large cloud of smoke. The ships stopped. There came three lights, one at the top of every ship. "What’s going on?" He asked a passenger. "Captain said they were ordered to find sanctuary on another plane. Once things settle down... if they settle that is, then we'll be retrieved and return home." The elderly women looked worried. "Never have I felt such dread. I fear this will be the last I see of Orucsius." Irriketh wished to reassure her but Yiurisel herself willed the kingdoms destruction. 'But why?' He thought. The first ship sank. There came a volley of fiery brimstone which took it. In the sky was a shadowy figure. Just one. Another wave came and sunk the second ship. Innocent lives were extinguished in a single moment. Irriketh could do nothing to stop it. The passengers on his boat panicked. Some jumped over the edge while others prayed for a miracle. The third barrage was already inbound. Irriketh looked at the two options he had. Jump and take his chances in the water or pray with the rest. Just as the first boulder hit the deck, he jumped. Flames engulfed him in the air. The cold icy water extinguished the fire. He struggled for the surface but something was pulling him down into the darkness. Oxygen was leaving him. The air faded. He gasped for a breath but filled his lungs with water instead. Their came a light bellow his feet. He starred calmly into it slowly fading into unconsciousness. The mysterious figure was gone. The ships had vanished. Only bits of wreckage, maybe enough for a skipper, floated absently. Among the boards and planks was a man in tattered clothes. He awoke to find the sun burned his lily white skin. In his dazed state, he slowly swam towards the shore. He lay in the sun till dry. The air became hot and his skin tanned. He stood to find the sandy shore turned into a magnificent plains expanding beyond human sight. Irriketh turned to look at the sea and understood the he was taken to another plane. He pondered the resolution that came after his disappearance. Was his home destroyed or the conflict resolved? He had hope but Yiurisel made it clear Orucsius was destroyed. His kingdom lays in ruin while the was forward promised a chance to return home. If this was Chaon, the five great temples of the elements would be hidden here.
