| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It had been ages since someone walked into his library to trade...The Naga slithered to the front of his ancient abode and looked down at the cloaked figure. The creature didn't speak and only flicked out his forked tongue to taste the air. It had an ominous, rusty taste to it. A taste that Kadru knew too well...It was the taste of blood. The hooded figure was clearly using some type of magical ability to hide his appearance, but that wasn't uncommon as the majority of his suppliers were thieves. Places a large wrapped box on the table the figure looked up at the Naga and rubbed his fingers together signaling his payment. Kadru dipped down and placed one of his four arms on the covered tome and attempted to unfold the cloth covering. As soon as he touched the cloth the uncover the book a burst of light shot through the shop and blinding the giant snake. The snake screeched as she wrenched backward while pulling back the covering on the tome back up blindly. "What did you bring me?" Kadru hissed angerly at the hooded man. "A tome from the tomb of Utaxon" He replied in a toneless voice. "Aaaaaah Utaxon" The Naga noted and he slithered closer to the tome. "That wizard...If memory serves he caused quite a bit of trouble for the liches in his time." She said almost to herself as she doubted the hooded man cared... "So what will you pay, creature?" The hooded man said, impatiently this time... "Take it and go" Kadru said ignoring the man completely as he tossed down a large bag of gold on the table. The man grabbed the bag and excited the room. It was clear that he wanted nothing more from the serpent. This...this is beyond my understanding, Kadru thought to her surprise. I'll write to the academy...I'm sure they will know someone who will be able to read this damnable book. The Naga motioned over to her desk and grabbed a quill with one hand, a piece of parchment with another, ink in her third, and cleared the table with her fourth. Pulling the paper level she began to write, To whom it may concern, I am writing you this letter because I have come across an item that may interest you. A man came into my library today boasting about a book he'd found on one of his adventures. He claims that he found it when he was exploring a ruin, a tomb more like it...He said that it was from the famed wizard, Utaxon who was known for his light and holy magics. Whenever I try and open the book it seems to shun my very presence. If you could send someone, a student perhaps, that could decipher this book I would be forever in your debt... Sincerely, Kadru It was obvious that Kadru meant the offering of a significant amount of money if they would send someone. He doubted there would be anything else that would get them to come all this way. That or a book in his collection, which would never happen... Kadru placed her seal upon the letter and sent it on its way. She hoped someone would be to her aid in the next couple months at the latest. |

Breyting had been given the letter and told he was to answer the call, while a number of high ranked officials in the Academy hated him, they also knew how useful he was. Linguistics, ruins, artifacts, and translation speed, these things were his specialties, making him an the obvious, and cheaper, choice. He was sent from the Academy to Rozenai, to the League, then had to hitchhike to Balefire. When he had finally arrived at the Library, only a few weeks had passed. He checked the time before entering the library. Breyting rummaged through his pockets for the letter Kadru had sent, holding it out as he spoke, "I'm Breyting, Academy of Magic mage specialized in Translation, Ruins, and Artifacts, basically I'm a magic oriented archaeologist." Breying set his pack down, his eyes shining with glee, "I've studied Utaxon in my spare time, a fascinating man that brought much peace to his lands. That is until his downfall by ancient Balefire I'm surprised you managed to get a hold on such a rare thing! Oh the information in those pages... do you have a more private room for us to exam the tome? I would like to get started right away if that's fine with you." |
