Prerequisites Checklist:
- Who am I? This are is be for Friend Plork.
- Is this character active, at least a few weeks old and unlikely to be removed in the near future? Friend Plork do am nearly 2!
- Do I have at least 150 gold sitting on this character's account? Yes, Friend Plork are has money, but Friend Snellopy was holding it
Why should you accept this custom PrC concept?
While Enkaida were designed for war, Plork is a social creature. Although she can cast spells and fight if needs be, she normally relies on her wits, speech and personality to see her through. Good thing she's an optimist. Hugglenaut is designed to be a social PrC, rather than a combat oriented one. While I have written it with Plork's quirks in mind, I have tried to make it appealing to others.
Hugglenaut (something more sensible is fine too) Custom PrC: Plork
There is always another way. You think outside the box not just because you're creative... you're a stirrer, a simpleton, think five moves ahead or some other left-field reason that makes you eschew the norm. "Roll for damage," and "I put on my robe and wizard hat," are never your go-to options.
These abilities are non-magical. Prerequisites
- Apprentice Diplomacy
- At least 100g of emotion-related spells
<This is where your pricing table will go.>
Level One
- The Power of Friendship:
With kind words and a sincere disposition the Hugglenaut can coax greater efforts out those most often overlooked. This translates into giving NPCs who lack any skills a single one at the Apprentice level, skilled NPCs gain one level in one of their pre-existing skills. This can be done to any number of NPCs, to a maximum equal to the number of levels in Hugglenaut. The buff lasts for three rounds and can be done once per combat.
- Never Hurt a Fly:
Violence almost universally has a cause, something to override morals or self-preservation to try and inflict harm on another living thing. The Hugglenaut discovers that their friendly nature makes it so others have a harder time choosing to inflict injuries upon them. This ability targets NPC followers, pets, golems, enkaida, summons and wild animals and inflicts a one level combat skill debuff for two rounds. This can be done once per combat. If the Hugglenaut does not take any offensive moves (defending themselves or others is allowed), they get one additional use in the combat. In addition the Hugglenaut will always count as being outnumbered for Golem and Enkaida purposes.
Level Two
- Eternal Optimist: While life isn't always sunshine and puppies, Hugglenauts are quicker to see the good in everything. They manage to shake off fear, demoralization, illusions and negative mind magic spells two round faster. Their presence is a calming influence on nearby allies, and those within a ten foot radius also escape the above mentioned adverse affects one round earlier.
Level Three
- Stating the Bleedin' Obvious: By voicing a simple, easy to follow plan or explanation, allies gain a slight boost to their reaction time and confidence levels for three rounds. Any opponents who overhear suffer a slight loss to their reaction time and confidence levels for two rounds as they try and work out what your real angle is. After their first exposure of you Stating the Bleedin' Obvious, an opponent is no longer susceptible to its effects. This is incompatible with I Have a Cunning Plan
- I Have a Cunning Plan:You launch into a complex, multilayered story/plan/explanation, the intricacies and logical twists of which leaves your audience enthralled... or deeply confused as they try and follow your thought processes. As long as you are speaking and your allies remain quiet and make no overtly hostile actions, those who look upon you unfavourably will hang on your every word, be less attentive and more likely to ignore orders. I Have a Cunning Plan may not be used during combat and is incompatible with Stating the Bleedin' Obvious
Level Four
- Look out! It's Apep!:
Being so sincere others are not ready when the Hugglenaut pulls a fast one on them. With a gesture and a shout, they are able to compel attention in a direction or at a person/object of their choice. This imposes a one round Stun on the enemy as they look at whatever incredulous thing the Hugglenaut is claiming. Those with Concentration equal to or higher than your levels of Hugglenaut can ignore the distraction, but suffer Light Mental Fatigue. This can only be done once per combat.
Level Five
- Safety Hug: Everyone needs to be held at times, friend and foe alike. By embracing an ally, your display of affection and camaraderie can remove two temporary debuffs, moderately restores their mana reserves and removes a moderate amount of fatigue, OR can prevent direct damage from the next offensive spell from affecting both of you (provided you are still embracing) and you both receive some rejuvenation, similar to the spell minor heal. If you choose to give an opponent a safety hug, they are held immobile for a round, and lose one temporary positive buff of their choice. During combat, you may only provide two Safety Hugs, one to an ally, one to an opponent.
Thanks to Alice for help with this. Alice suggested it not be allowed to go with martial PRC's too. I know it says we can just have one being evaluated at a time, but Drunken Master only needs the pricing table, and I am taking Plork to Suler in ST07 and Zo said to chuck it up so people could look at it. Apologies in advance for being greedy/pushy.

Eternal Optimist needs to be rephrased. There are very few emotion-affecting spells that have a duration built into them, and of those, the duration is rarely longer than two rounds. (I'm also not sure if you want to include all illusion spells for thematic reasons - if I were to cast an illusory delicious pie, that seems more likely to entrap an optimist than a pessimist.)
"I Have a Cunning Plan" and "Stating the Bleedin' Obvious" don't need to specify that they're mutually exclusive. The conditions of use mean that you can't use both at the same time, and I don't think there's any problem with confusing your enemies with a complicated plan while they're still trying to work out what your angle is.
Look out! It's Apep! is potentially overpowered. An unavoidable one-round stun on anyone whose concentration is below Expert is pretty strong, and it seems from the usage that you could also use it on multiple enemies. I also think that in PvP in particular it would be annoying to be obliged to spend a full post looking around if your concentration was too low. The name is fantastic, though.
Safety Hug has a similar problem when used on an opponent: either it's unavoidable, meaning that your opponent is immobilized no matter what, or it is avoidable, in which case the only difference between it and just grabbing someone without using a PrC ability is the buff removal, which is pretty tiny.
I will assume that anyone who suggests using a different name than "Hugglenaut" is a spambot and immediately ban them from Imythess.

Changelog: Addressing Zo's issues with Eternal Optimist, Look Out! It's Apep!, and Safety Hug, and minor jiggering of I Have A Cunning Plan and Stating the Bleedin' Obvious. Version 1.0 is in a spoiler at the end, in case that aids in RSI for comparing.
Prerequisites Checklist:
- Who am I? This are is be for Friend Plork.
- Is this character active, at least a few weeks old and unlikely to be removed in the near future? Friend Plork do am nearly 2!

Hugglenaut (something more sensible is fine too) Custom PrC: Plork

In addition the Hugglenaut will always count as being outnumbered for Golem and Enkaida purposes.
Level Two
- Eternal Optimist: While life isn't always sunshine and puggles, Hugglenauts are quicker to see the good in everything. A Hugglenaut has a moderate inherent resistance to fear, demoralization, negative illusions and mind magic spells. Their presence is a calming influence on nearby allies, and those within a ten foot radius also find their resistances to these attacks mildly increased.
Level Three
- Stating the Bleedin' Obvious: By voicing a simple, easy to follow plan or explanation, allies gain a slight boost to their reaction time and confidence levels for three rounds. Any opponents who overhear suffer a slight loss to their reaction time and confidence levels for two rounds as they try and work out what your real angle is. After their first exposure of you Stating the Bleedin' Obvious, an opponent is no longer susceptible to its effects.

As long as you are speaking and your allies remain quiet and make no overtly hostile actions, those who look upon you unfavourably will hang on your every word, be less attentive and more likely to ignore orders. I Have a Cunning Plan may not be used during combat.
Level Four
- Look out! It's Apep!:
Being so sincere others are not ready when the Hugglenaut pulls a fast one on them. With a gesture and a shout, they are able to compel attention in a direction or at a person/object of their choice. For one round, those affected are distracted, investigating whatever incredulous thing the Hugglenaut is claiming. Those with Concentration equal to or higher than Adept can ignore the distraction, but suffer Light Mental Fatigue. Look Out! It's Apep! can only affect one person in combat (And may only be used once per battle). Out of combat it can affect the number of targets up to your level of Hugglenaut.
If you choose to give an opponent a safety hug, they are unable to attack or cast spells for a round, and lose one temporary positive buff of their choice. Opponents with Adept Unarmed Combat or higher find it easier to resist a safety hug. During combat, you may only provide two Safety Hugs, one to an ally, one to an opponent. Providing multiple safety hugs out of combat becomes moderately fatiguing.
