Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Phedre’s vision began to swim and she was none too sure that the dagger she gripped so firmly in her hand would be of any help anymore. This was not the effect of mere alcohol, and her stomach instinctively lurched at the realization that there was a toxin of some kind swirling throughout her system. It was another reason why she rarely drank, and perhaps enough of one to swear off the sin altogether. She steadied herself against the table and pulled her head upward when she heard the rough growl of a werewolf comment about the presence of a zakona.

It was in that instant that a faint warming sensation began to spread to her limbs and the slow haze that awashed her vision began to clear. Details of the scene before her began to sharpen and after a breath or two, she was able to abandon the table surface as her crutch. She sat back in her seat, brain beginning to clear of its fog and fully understand the circumstance in which they found themselves. Phedre’s brows fell together and her lips curled in a snarl.

The next exchange between her companion and the lycanthrope was done in a language that she did not posses, but it took little assumption to determine where this all was headed. Phedre moved to her feet, left hand back on the dagger hilt at her waist. She felt the eyes of the other patrons of the tavern watch the scene unfold, hungry for the excitement that a fight would bring. No one else moved though, it was the three of them, Phedre, Tian and the wolf creature, that acted out the scene while the others watched as an eager audience.

In an instant the beast gripped Tian by the throat, his teeth bared and ready to engage. The lack of air supply did not seem to hinder the knife-wielder’s chatter though, for he continued to give the werewolf a tongue lashing that appeared to entertain some of those at a table nearby. Ready to draw her dagger and bury it in the soft flesh between the beast’s ribs, Phedre’s plan was interrupted. Tian had relieved himself of his unwelcome necktie by shattering glass against the beast’s temple.

The force of impact caused the wolf to drop his quarry and instead clutch the side of his face, which now oozed sluggishly. One of the three eyes was held in a permanent wince and it took a second or two for the others to refocus. In that time Phedre slid her dagger from its hilt, opting for the less assuming blade. Her sword remained safely on her back, where its poison tipped length could not swing and connect with the wrong target, in the congested tavern great room. She was three steps closer to the werewolf before he coordinated a vengeful strike at Tian, his great hand moving to return its grip on the mouthy man’s throat. Phedre intercepted it with a fluid strike, the short blade burying itself deep into the furry palm of the beast.

There the blade remained, for the sinew gripped its length tightly and did not will its easy release. The werewolf howled in pain, withdrawing the wounded hand and letting out a snarl. It bared its teeth once more, thick saliva dripping from extended fangs. Slowly it withdrew the dagger from its paw and tossed it haphazardly onto the floor. Phedre moved to stand next to Tian, glancing briefly over her shoulder to determine if any other assailants were making their way out of the woodwork. She then bore an angry gaze at her companion, divided by the fact that he had used magic on her without her explicit permission and after having heard that she despised it so, but also because it may have very well saved her life, or his for that matter, and really she should be thanking him.

She instead said nothing, for she did not have the way with words that he did and she would rather not risk the distraction from the fight at hand. Instead she put the tongue lashing that she would inevitably provide him in her back pocket and turned her attention back to the rage-filled werewolf with a rather ugly looking wound in his dominant hand. Phedre’s senses were alive, her skin humming. She came alive in combat and was at home in the warm spray of the blood of her enemies. Perhaps this would not be a night off after all.

Even as she watched, the werewolf's hand began to heal itself right before Phedre's eyes. The bastard made to advamce, and Tian raised an admonishing finger. A moment, if you will. I can see there are plenty of you, and only two of us, allow me my feet first? There were indeed others rising to the occasion. In fact, there were a dozen or more. Tian knew their line of reasoning: there was a fight, and they might be able to sneak off with the bodies of two humans to indulge in some strictly illicit meals.

Tian rose slowly, straightening his gauntlets and adjusting the set of his armor in a casual manner. When the werewolf reach for him, claws extended, it was surprised to find the Ascendants hand catching it by the wrist and stopping it cold. No, no, muttonchops, he said in common with a dark and unkind grin. We played that game. Its my turn.

He moved so quick it was nearly impossible to follow it. Two knives were missing from the table and sank deep in the things chest before it could ven react, and as it coughed a gout of blood into Tian's shadowed face, all hell broke loose.

Tian's knives were out in a flash. They were long and heavy bladed, nearly short swords in themselves, and he handled them with deadly confidence. The first of the patrons to approach after the werewolf (who was pulling the blades from its chest - they vanished as soon as they left its hands- and looking at Tian wide eyed with a growing anger in its eyes) tried to grab him as well, and the sickening sound of steel parting flesh and bone echoed. And then it was time for people with weapons to get them out, and for the keeper of this establishment to fade away into the back and bar the door from the inside. This was a dive, a hell, and no keeper that wished to live long would try to stop his patrons from fighting if they wanted to.

Werewolf number one clenched its hands - paws - and began to grow a little larger, but Tian turned to the regenerative bastard and gutted him and, without any preamble, beheaded him as well. The beast dropped. Regenerate from that you sonofabitch, he snarled, turned and caught someone else knife with one of his larger and sneered contemptuously as he turned aside that pathetic attempt, stepping in to drive it home into something else throat.

Beter out knives! Watch this lot, most of them have to be beheaded to make them stay down.
