| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Inside the main office Shirine sat as she did some paper work. The office had been grown into a large tree, but this room was on the first floor. They had a new recruit coming in today and she was eager to test them out. The receptionist would send the recruit back here. The group had gotten pretty big lately and she was even considering expanding the barracks . The one down side was they had lost their druid's direct support she would have to go looking for a new one soon. Hmm... might be a good job to have the newbie go on. It was tricky getting the the druid's grove and a decent challenge. The room she was in was fairly informal as decent sized table and four chairs around it. Papers were scattered across the desk and small candle sat on the desk providing some additional light. There was a window, but the forest often kept things shadowy or shady. Shirine herself currently wore a simple pair of leather boots, pants and a white blouse. Her long red hair was tied into a pony tail. She had all three of her swords strapped to her. One on her back and two on her hips. She was in her elven form for now as it was best for first impressions. Her ears twitched as she heard a person approaching her. She stood up holding out her hand, "Welcome my name is Shirine Mikayles, leader of this little group, please sit down. Tell me your name, a bit about yourself and why you want to join us. After that you just need to sign a few forms and we can get you started as a member of Mëoiglad Húd" She gave a bright smile intending to be friendly. |

The choice for Mateo to try his hand at joining this Mëoiglad Húd hadn't been taken lightly, and he'd had seconds thoughts ever since making that decision. Being ones own boss was a simple pleasure that he'd gotten all too comfortable with, and chiefly among the reasons to stay independent. However, the recent dry spells in the field of bounty hunting for the past few months was seriously forcing his hand in this situation. At this point the warrior's options were starve, become a criminal, change careers or join a group, none of which were too appealing. Still, of the four the last was the least horrendous of an idea. Mateo had long known of the infestation of elves in the Norwood area, but he couldn't let this minuscule hang up stop him at this point. With the collapse of the famous Imythess Mercenary League there just weren't any other quality armies for hire he knew of on the continent, other than the lesser branch of Mëoiglad Húd in Taras. Luckily enough he was able to avoid much interaction with the long ears until he managed to find his destination among the rich foliage of Norwood Forest. Having to really work to get there didn't improve the warriors mood any, yet he still tried to put on a less sour expression than usual for first impressions. That being said, Mateo's dirty and sweat stained outfit of simple boots, brown pants, short sleeved formerly white shirt, leather breastplate and rough leather pack didn't help his image much. It seemed odd at first that the receptionist didn't ask for the sword hanging at his hip; although, it made sense in hindsight once he met the leader. Three swords seemed a little like overkill on her part for a simple meeting. It was a real struggle for Mateo to return her smile with anything close to the same intensity, and even more to accept the hand shake. In the back of head he kinda wondered if there was going to be some arcane side effects to touching someone with a natural affinity for magic at their core. That was the last damn thing he needed. Still, he didn't keep the boss waiting, and accepted the gesture with a smile. "First things first, nice to meet you. My name is Mateo Ferro, and I hail from Iures. As for joining, I'll be honest and admit that i'm in it mostly for the money. I was a bounty hunter until I decided to seek you and your group out, and I figured selling my services to a broader clientele would be the best move, since the bounty market has been a little stale as of late. I will say that once I sign those forms I'll only swing my sword on your behalf." Edited by Mateo Ferro, Sun Sep 25, 2016 10:07 am.

Shirine nodded, her smile slipped a little, but it didn't show. This man was clearly forcing himself. She wondered why.... did he not like elves? Well there was a good number in the camp, but they weren't completely elven. No she wasn' t sure. The rough look didn't really phase her. She had been with mercenaries of all types for years and this was a common enough look. Of course she would encourage him to clean himself up a bit. A well groomed group commanded more respect. Plus he was clearly trying so give him a good try and if he worked out good. She handed the pen and forms over. Well then Mr Mateo, nice to meet you. Money is often the reason to become a mercenary. Hopefully though you will make a few friends among us as time goes on. Just sign these forms and then we will go outside and have a bit of a spar. Once I get a feel for your power I can get you started on some jobs." It took a few minutes to fill out the forms and Shirine looked at them briefly. She nodded and put them into a small basket. "Alright everything seems in order, just follow me out the yard now. Oh yes and after the fight do find some fresh clothes in the barracks. It is best to look a little nicer when going to jobs. We often meet customers first to confirm details before getting into the actual gritty stuff." She left out of the building leading Mateo to the yard. Finiding an empty spot she pulled out a wooden training sword the match for her Katana. It had a metal core that gave it weight, but the blunted edge kept it from hurting too much. There were all sorts of training weapons and shields. Shirine waited for Mateo to join her and select his training weapon. Then stepping on to an empty area of the training yard she motioned to him to join her. "Alright then let's see what you got." Once he was ready she sent a two handed probing slash to his non shielded side. It wasn't meant to hit, but really just get a feel for how fast he could react to her strike. |

Mateo just nodded and lightly grunted his acknowledgements as his new boss talked on and released their grip. After accepting a pen he let his smile drop completely while hunching over her desk to start the paperwork. While he did so the words she'd said about sparring really started to set in for the warrior. Judging by her job status and strong handshake this elf wasn't one to taken lightly, so concern about how things were gonna turn out began to form in the back of his head. As he followed Shirine out of the office and further into the base Mateo pondered if his standard strategy would see him through as it usually did. The shield was more his weapon than a sword, and defending until his enemies grew sloppy with their strikes and slow of foot had saved him dozens of times. Hopefully, this was another of those times. For some reason the word fresh broke the man from his internal debate, causing him to wrinkle his nose and frown a bit deeper. The boss wouldn't have mentioned that if he didn't stick something awful. There was nothing he could've done to prevent this, yet he still felt slightly embarrassed about it. As he choose his weapons from a rack of wooden armaments Mateo made a mental note to channel this embarrassment to fury against his opponent, it possibly being just what he needed to pull this off. The warrior had a genuine smile on his lips when he stepped up to face Shirine with a kite shield and long sword, with the former feeling as though it was as weighted inside like the weapon. The smile remained as he took a loose stance and banging the sword against the edge of his shield to signal his readiness. However, he was not ready for how fast the blow that came next would be, or how strong. Mateo was able to catch the strike right above the guard of his long sword, but his wrist didn't absorb the blow too well, with bones and joints creaking under stress. Seconds after their blades clashed the warrior would take a step forward and push out with his shield to bash at Shrine's face. Edited by Mateo Ferro, Wed Sep 28, 2016 12:33 am.

Shirine pulled back for the moment as the shield bash came. Well she was even moving a bit before that, years of experience served her well. Hmm... he was a newbie it seemed. Decent form for defense at least. Best suited when one had some proper heavy armor. Still there was some potential there too. They should have to work him hard to refine him into something more than averave, but he might be a diamond in the rough. She slid towards his sword side and let out an upward slash. If he turned to catch it on his shield she slid into sweaping kick. If he caught it with his sword she slid further to his side and either moved to strike with her sword hilt or elbow while keeping the blade locked. Mixing in a little unarmed often through prople off balance. She did need to practice this mkre anyways. A few spectators had started to watch curious on how well the new guy would do against their commander. Shirine noted Terra had joined them. She doubted they would need the healer, but it was always good to have one ready. Murass Panteria was also watching. The large panther man was clearly judging the fight. He was the sort who always liked to find strong sparing partners. |
