Prerequisites Checklist:
- Who am I? Seele
- Is this character active, at least a few weeks old and unlikely to be removed in the near future? Lorica's first post was made on August 21, so it's been a little over a month
- Do I have at least 150 gold sitting on this character's account? Please
Why should you accept this custom PrC concept? Right now, if you want to get into body mutations and shapeshifting, you either need to go with grafts or magic. For various reasons, neither of these work for Lorica's IC plotline. Her changes are part of a corruption of the Wellspring. They are violent, volatile, and at times involuntary. I wanted to capture the feeling of uncontrollable growth and rampant physiology with these abilities. Also some sass, hence their names.
Genesis Arsenal Custom PrC: Lorica
Your body is the one weapon that can never be disarmed. Take this lesson to heart. Make your skin your armor. Make your bones your blades. Make your enemies bleed.
These abilities are non-magical.
Prerequisites:- Skill: Athletics (Journeyman)
- Feat: Brawn
- Spell Requirement: No magical strength/speed buffs
| Training Costs |
|---|
| Level One | Level Two | Level Three | Level Four | Level Five |
|---|
| | | | |
Level One
- Reach for the Sky: You can create an extension of your own limbs, tripling them in length in a spurt of growth. The extra length is crafted of bone and muscle and possesses your natural levels of strength or any natural weapons you possess. Although you still feel pain from injuries suffered by the extension, but it is not an actual part of your body and can be completely severed without lasting physical effects. The growth will recede after one post. Repeated use of this ability is fatiguing.
Level Two
- Is This Yours?: When you take damage from a physical attack, you can choose to alter your muscle density to trap the offending weapon. Your flesh closes around the foreign object, hardening to a resiliency similar to stone. This effectively traps the weapon, making it nearly impossible to draw free (as with the proverbial sword in the stone). The weapon will remain trapped for two posts, during which time the injury it inflicted will not bleed. This ability can be used twice per combat.
- A Bone to Pick: You grow spikes of bone from your body that can be fired like missiles. These projectiles are jagged spurs that will shatter on impact with hard surfaces, scattering shrapnel in a five-foot area and dealing light damage. When hitting softer matter (such as living tissue or vegetation) they won’t shatter, but instead do moderate piercing damage. These projectiles can range in size from the length of your finger to the length of your forearm. The longer the bone or the faster you fire them, the less accurate they are and the more feedback you suffer, potentially throwing you off-balance.
Level Three
- Upper Hand You react to an injury with wild, uncontrollable growth. Light or moderate injuries will be completely healed, while heavy injuries will be significantly healed. A new appendage will temporarily grow from the site of the wound. It can be up to five feet in length, with a design of your choice and natural weapons made out of sharpened bone. It can be used with Reach for the Sky, as with any other limb. The extra appendage will remain for up to three posts before sloughing off, leaving the mended injury. This ability can be used twice per battle.
- Fool Me Once: Your body naturally reacts to attacks aimed at your five senses. When they are damaged or otherwise impaired you can grow new sensory organs to replace or supplement the originals. For example, you could grow a new pair of eyes after being blinded or new ears after being deafened. The new sensory organs are immune to physical sources of damage or impairment for the next three posts. In terms of taste and smell, this allows you temporary immunity to inhaled and ingested alchemicals or poisons. Persistent magical effects that target the senses can still affect the new organs.
Level Four
- Tit for Tat: Offense is the only defense. You meet an incoming physical attack straight-on with one of your own, your strength enhanced to inhuman levels. The sheer power of your parry deals moderate blunt damage (without natural weapons) or moderate piercing damage (with natural weapons). A direct hit will throw your target away. Additionally, the damage from their own attack will be reflected back at them in a wave of visible force, further augmenting your vengeance. You must still suffer the damage of their attack for this ability to activate. This ability is mildly fatiguing and can only be used once on the same enemy per battle.
Level Five
- Ugly on the Outside: You surround yourself with an outer layer of thick, muscular flesh and bone. This shell can up to triple your size, increasing the size category of a normal human to Large or Huge (at their choice). When this ability is activated, you can choose the appearance of the exoskeleton, including the body’s shape, number of appendages, and natural weapons. This fleshy carapace is extremely dense, and physical attacks will feel like they are cutting through hardwood instead of meat. Your new body possesses the same speed and strength you naturally possess from non-magical buffs. Damage done to the exoskeleton is painful but does not translate to your own body; it also cannot be healed by any methods. This form lasts for two posts and is very draining to manifest, leaving you fatigued after use. It will completely dissolve when its duration is up.

A Bone to Pick - Feedback should be replaced with Recoil.
Upper Hand - This appears to have no downsides. It probably needs to be a bit more deleterious.
This CPrC was obviously designed to work in concert with a separate physical PrC, so the lack of obvious power isn't a big deal here.

Changelog:- Changed 'feedback' to 'recoil' on A Bone To Pick, as per Ley's suggestion. I couldn't think of that word when writing this.
- Fool Me Once now has a one-post delay before being activated (I know this wasn't mentioned but Ley and I talked about it off-site).
- Ugly on the Outside now specifies the other cPrC abilities can be used while its activated (in case that wasn't obvious before).
- Upper Hand now has a drawback of reducing your speed due to the extra weight. Right now it's a one level reduction in Athletics in regards to speed until the extra hand dissolves.

I was going to price this, but I did have one contention here after some thought:
Is This Yours: Does this effect allow you to trap unarmed weapons or natural weapons? If it did (especially against natural weapons) then this would be waaaaaaaaay too strong, as you could basically rip apart anyone using such weapons without much trouble.

Changelog:- Is This Yours: Doesn't happen with natural weapons, which is now clarified.
- Removed Reach for the Sky (I forgot extendable graft add-on, lolol)
- Added new ability to Level 1: No Skin Off My Back
Genesis Arsenal Custom PrC: Lorica
Your body is the one weapon that can never be disarmed. Take this lesson to heart. Make your skin your armor. Make your bones your blades. Make your enemies bleed.

Level One
- No Skin Off My Back: You can adapt your body to avoid persistent damage. When your flesh is marred by some sort of persistent effect that will cripple your ability to move or fight (such as burns, frostbite, corrosion, etc), you can shed that skin and replace it with new growth. The degree of success depends on the severity of the original condition and does not heal damage to deeper muscles or tissues, although it can make them outwardly appear mended. This can similarly be used to slough off scars. The new skin is tender and more sensitive to pain for the remainder of the current battle, but will adapt quickly outside of combat. This ability can be used three per combat.
Level Two
- Is This Yours?: When you take damage from a physical attack, you can choose to alter your muscle density to trap the offending weapon. This only applies to external weapons, not natural weapons (such as teeth or claws).

I would probably change severe burns to just burns. Severe burns are deeper than skin level, at best you'd be able to lessen the damage, not completely excise it

Oops. Changed that, my bad. The description made it clear it wasn't supposed to be severe. Basically she can rip her skin off if needbe. Super sexy.
I also added a combat limit coz of balancing. Three times a combat.
