| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The moon had been full and bright the night she had managed to finished the repairs this new form of her's enough to move. During that night she had fallowed the moon as it traveled from it's apex in the night sky down to the horizon, hoping that the pale light would lead her out of the course foliage of the Heart of the Forest, Home of the eternally wise Grandfather Oak who had granted her permission to inhabit this dead elf's form once her soul had left. The damage had been great, so much so that the dead elf's garb showed much of the damage. The leather breeches are torn across the knees. The left leg is missing entirely from the knee down while the right just has a ragged tear. Her woven leather vest, at one time meant to be armor, had a fist sized hole over her left breast, directly over the elf's now missing heart. The hole is singed black for nearly half an inch around the edge with a matching blackened hole in the back. Most of the back and the entire left side of the vest is darkened with old soaked up blood, now dry and dark. A testament to what had actually killed the elven woman. Meril had added, in her repairs, what looked liked seemingly undamaged bracers and boots of green leather with a thorned vine pattern on them. In her stark white hair, mostly left to hang loose and reaching her waist, was pinned back above her right ear is a single white rosebud with a small decorative thorn vine used to attach it to her hair. Meril wasn't able to bring back the color of life to the elf's skin leaving it a pale white color. Movement had been hard at first, the light from the moon was not enough to give her strength even when she followed it. By the time the moon had set she felt she had walking down pat. She turned about confused when sunlight came across the sky with the dawn. As soon as the first rays of light came through the trees touched her skin, she stopped moving and turned to face the sun. She closed her eyes and spread her arms away from her body. As she stood in the early morning light what appeared to be body art of light green swirls, akin to tendrils, spread across most of her exposed skin. Sunlight made her feel better, made her strength return to her, and made it feel like she had a little bit more of idea how beings like this elf should feel. Water might be good now. She wasn't sure about rooting for water when she was supposed to be mobile. Opening her eyes she started to look around. Water should sparkle in sunlight, right? Should she listen for it instead? |

The lush underbrush of the Norwood Forest was damp with dew as the sky began to lose stars one by one and slowly lightened as the dawn approached. The forest seemed strange, there was a difference here then there was back home. The main difference, in her mind, was that the "bed" she was sleeping in was a strange conglomerate of roots and shrubs. Not that she was really complaining; it was comfortable, in its own way, and it kept her off the ground, which was another good thing. Looking up through the trees she saw the glint of darkness turning to dawn. Giving a yawn she grunted and got up from the little shelf she had called a bed and pulled herself up onto the root proper and stretched out. The air smelled crisp. Bringing back memories from the pack back when she was at Academy. Something stirred in her, homesickness maybe? For now, she had to get through the forest, and with the maze, the roots became in certain places, it would be minorly difficult but she had seen worse. Stretching she gathered her things, making sure she did not forget anything and then set on through the road she had followed thus far. Moving around and over and through the roots of the trees that created the "paths" that existed in this strange forest she was now navigating she felt the Wolf start bubbling to the surface. An instinctive setting that came with her training and learning. It was almost as if she felt at home out here just as much as she did in the cities with people. It was an odd feeling. I wonder how the old wolf will feel? She paused as she noticed up ahead an elf stood standing in the sun. She blinked as she realized how tore up the elf's clothes were. Had something happened? Was that enemy still around? She carefully moved towards the elf, there was a hole in the back of her shirt, it was dark and charred a bit. Something was wrong. She stood quietly watching as the elf dropped her arms and seemed to look around for something. Lyque wondered if she should speak but the Wolf said to wait. Pausing she felt her ear flick and watched. She would wait to see what the elf did. Maybe she was in trouble or something. |

She didn't see any sparkle of water anywhere, at least not from here. She tipped her head slightly, trying to listen instead. A soft breeze fluttered the leaves and she felt it brush through her hair. Well, she didn't think she was thirsty just yet, but she was going to have to pay attention and see if she could find water somewhere. With a sigh she turned her back to the sun to look for some sort of animal path. Deer and smaller creatures often created well used paths that lead to where they got their water. Perhaps if she could find one of those she could follow it instead? Alright, this elf was a mobile animal, something called sentient according to Grandfather Oak. She had gotten the mobile part down, she hoped, but beyond water animals needed to eat. What did elves eat? She looked at her hands. Small sharp, but mostly flat... claws? No... nails. Nails weren't claws. So probably not meat. Maybe? She needed to find other sentient animals and learn from them. It would be rather awful if she died of starvation or something just because she didn't know how to feed her new body. Meril would soon feel rather stupid about food and water anyways, because in the small pack she was carrying, beyond the elf's bow and quiver, was trail rations, a mostly full water skin, a mess kit, and a bedroll. Meril hadn't understood the pack. The elf had been carrying it though, so it felt odd leaving it behind. It's purpose was not really understood by the plant spirit yet. Things like money and the jewelry the elf had been wearing had been stolen at the elf's death, so she didn't really have anything of value unless someone was good at recognizing the value of an elven bow. The elf's killer hadn't known the value of the bow and quiver, leaving it behind because they didn't know how to use it and it wasn't small enough too stuff in a small pack. Move, she needed to move. Standing around like a plant would not help her now, even with the pleasant light of the sun that came down in ribbons between the trees. Move. Meril glanced around and saw what she thought of as a path, though it was barely a deer path. She looked down one way and then the other trying to see if one side looked more traveled. To her left it looked like the path joined with another. She went that way in a fairly quick trot and looked at the junction. It sort of reminded her of a tree's branch, one side stretching off in sort of the way she came from, back into the deeper forest. She took a few steps back off the path to look at the junction better. Which way lead to the trunk. She had no interest in the end of the branches, the trunk of the tree would go to water. After studying the paths for a moment, she made up her mind and started down what she thought was the right path. She didn't think of it as a bad path, just one meant for a smaller animal. It twisted and turned though the forest, but it felt natural to her. |

The Wolf knelt as she continued to watch the elf. It looked down at its hands in a strange manner. Was she concussed? she wondered. It was a possibility that something obviously had happened to her. The question was, what? She felt the hairs on her neck bristle more and her nose twitched. The elf looked around and seemed to miss her somehow, Not paying attention to her surroundings... Easy prey. She paused in the thought of moving onwards to follow and finally agreed with herself on the best course of action. Taking in a breath she dropped down lightly to the dirt floor. It seemed, at least, that the elf didn't know much about where she was if she was this confused. "Lost?" she asked. She bore no weapon in her hand and her face, while not smiling, had tints of confusion and observation and she watched to see what the elf woman would do. |
