Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Shirine saw the first strike and it was true this man was rusty or very sloppy. She moved quickly parrying the blow so that the sword was knocked up and away as she moved to the open flank and struck at a down and to the side angled to strike his side lightly, but enough to be felt. She then shifted her sword again bring it so her arms were up and the blade down ready to block any attempted counter.

She would give him a few more strikes to give her a better feel for his skill and style. Then she might start giving him some verbal advice as they spared. She hopped she might see him throw off a bit of that rust during this fight. There was something pure about sparring where you could just get a feel for a person in ways you couldn't in other ways. Thinking to herself, 'Alright Roche come show me what your potential is.' She just grinned as she waited to see what he would do next.

Roche was embarassed by how outclassed he was.

Trying to remind himself that this wasn't a pit fight, Roche hesitated time and time again to stop himself from reaching to grab hair or arms. She was more physically adept than he was, being well trained along with whatever advantages her cat shape changing allowed her. Roche, on the other hand, was half starved and under trained.

He barely got his training blade in the way of her attack on his flank, recognizing his opening just in time to react. He gave several more easily-countered slashes and thrusts. He paused to listen to her advice here and there and throughout the morning's practice he began to fall into his old steps, acknowledging her advice while recalling old techniques that worked best for him.

He held up a hand to pause their sparring as something tugged at the edge of his mind. He followed the trail of thought, nearly losing it before it came over him completely. It wasn't a memory so much as an old feeling he recognized. He'd encountered it in the pits when exhaustion pushed conscious thought and logic aside, leaving nothing but reflex and instinct. He'd killed a good many of his fellow slaves while in that trance. His body visibly relaxed, the constant shifting and readjusting falling away to confidence.

Roche moved without hesitation, setting in to assault Shirine without hesitation. Taking the offensive, he began to trust his instincts and they guided him well, allowing him to block and parry significantly more often with greater success. He moved in to fight with his wider, broader sword to fight in close combat, trying to keep inside the woman's reach, using his body's positioning to try to put her off balance.

As the rust slowly came off Shirine could enjoy the fight more and more. She scored a few more possible hits ike the first strike to the side, with no damage for most of the exchange of blows, but as he switched up his tactics adding in some body movements to unbalance her she found he manged to score a minor hit. In a fight it sould have not been too dangerous, but it also klmeant he had talent she could not underestimate. The fight continued she stepped ip her game adding in a few strikes with her legs or in one case her elbow. Her unarmed was slightly better than his right now. Still it was good practice as they weaved the both unarmed, blade and foot work into the dance of death and life.

After a good fifteen to twenty minutes she called a halt to the fight. She had probably scored some good hits on him thoug he had gotten her a few times too. Not as good as her hits, but still aceptable. She smiled whiping hed brow. There was a small bit of swear, but it was hardly noticable. She did not sweat much and had rediculous endurance. "Ah not bad, not bad at all! I actually got a decent work out from that. You got some talent there. Also saw you held back on some dirty tactics. Not apprived by everyone, but as mercenary do not be afraid to use them. Practice them too as long as you do not harm your opponent too much. Though preferably not on me as my tricks are fairly nasty.

So take a break then practice with anyone free. I have to do some captain stuff. Oh I will be back after lunch. That os when most people work on training technique. I am showing off my draw slash (quick draw feat) today and the twins help with duel weileding. We got an unarmed guy teaching his style every day too. Look for the panther man if interested in improving there. Well good luck Roche and thanks for ths fight today!"

She then headed for the administrative building looking slightly depressed at the thlught of paperwork. Several of the observers of the fight came up to give greetings to Roche while congratulating him on surviving a fight with the captain. Many had done this, but a good fight against an elite like Shirine showed strength and that was something every mercenary respected.
