| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It was about time that she managed to get away from that annoying, freedom-stealing parent of hers. Sera had been planning it for a while, but she had to figure out something that would make her mother stay away for a while. At least long enough for her to find her true father. She was convinced that everybody had a mother and a father. If she could see and speak to her dead sister who was somehow tethered to her soul, she believed she had to be able to find her father, dead or alive. She was the only one that was able to see her sister. She referred to her as Ruby. She'd often be seen talking to an invisible friend, and little did anyone know, her invisible friend was actually her twin sister. Seraphina was just over five feet tall, which was about average for someone her age. If it wasn't for her absurdly dark purple eyes, nobody would be able to guess that she wasn't human. She didn't have much magical ability yet, but she planned on honing her skills before meeting up with her mother. She didn't have anything truly against the woman, she just wanted to prove herself worthy of independence. Several things were racing through her mind as she walked through the trees, kicking any fallen small branches or twigs, stepping on the smallest ones to break them in half under her weight. She wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings, but her pet coyote named Trixie was following her closely and listening and watching their surroundings for her. She had the coyote for as long as she could remember, as if her mother somehow enchanted it to age at the same rate she did. It was one of the few things her mother did right, in her opinion. The mid-day sun shined brightly through the trees, the rays of sunshine beaming between the leaves whenever it could. Sera was hungry, and not in the best of moods. Even the nice weather didn't help her cheer up any. She was adamant about staying away from her mother. She really hoped that she wouldn't come across any of her mother's friends because she imagined they would try to return her home. If anyone knew Rimmon well enough, they'd probably recognize this child. Sera had the same body type, same facial features, same thickness of hair, and her eyes were that purple colour that Rimmon often created when she was using her Lunar Disciple abilities. Sera also had that same distrusting look in her body language when meeting someone new. Sera was a lot more like her mother than she wanted to admit. She stopped in her tracks when Trixie grabbed her sweater and tugged on it, as if trying to tell her something. She turned around, not in the slightest bit concerned about what was going on, and asked her familiar "What? What could possibly be so important that you had to interrupt my stick kicking? Hmm?" the coyote let go of her sweater and looked into the direction of someone approaching. When Sera finally looked into the same direction and noticed the approaching stranger, she felt adrenaline pump through her for a few seconds, and then breathed slowly to calm herself down. "Oh." She stared at the stranger, not sure what to do or say. |

It had been many years since Shirine's escape from the dark lands. She was going through Norwood in her hybrid form while she stalked some prey. She almost had a dear when a scent drifted across her nose. It was familiar, but different... sister? No it was impossible after so many years. It was at least close to her own. She forgot her hunt quickly moved through the forest. She slowed a bit taking her elven form as she got close. She kept her sense of hearing heightened and soon heard a voice. It sounded young and wasn't her sister. Still she continued forward towards the best possible lead she had ever found. Her outfit was a simple set of pants and a blouse, easy to move in. The outfit was a wardrobe outfit and had shifted to fit her form. She came around a tree and saw a young girl. The girl held strong similarities to her sister. Shirine also had strong similarities to her sister that were quite obvious especially her hair. She spoke up, "Well hello there. My name is Shirine and you are? Also what are you doing out here alone?" She kept her hands away from her weapons and in plain sight so that she could appear friendly. |

When the stranger started speaking, Sera immediately turned up her nose and said "Hmm. I don't have to answer you. I'm old enough to be alone." she crossed her arms and straightened her back, trying to make herself look taller. She failed horribly at it though. It was obvious that she had no idea what she was doing out here on her own. As soon as something or someone was nearby that could speak the same language, she immediately got nervous. She stood behind her pet coyote so that the coyote was standing in between her and this stranger who introduced herself as Shirine. Strange name; sounded familiar. She kept her arms crossed, and continued talking when she probably should have just stayed quiet at that point. "I know exactly what I'm doing. I have a mission and I'm going to complete it before she finds me." she then spoke under her breath, mumbling "I doubt she'd actually come and find me." then went back to her normal, bossy tone. "There's no way I'm going back yet, nobody can make me! Hmph!" she slowly began walking again, kicking the small sticks that were in her path while glancing back and forth between the sticks she was kicking, Trixie, and Shirine. She hoped that would be enough for the stranger to back off and leave her alone, but she expected Shirine would stay with her. Adults always had the habit of being annoying like that. |

Shrine looked at the girl and clearly saw she had no idea what she was doing. She sighed as she headed the mumbling with her enhanced hearing (ability of her Controlled Were PRC). She spoke, "Look here girl you clearly don't know what you are doing. I know this forest quite well and those that live in it. You probably aren't even aware that you were heading towards a wolf den. It isn't too close, but if you had kept going..... Anyways you should stay with me until we get to a village okay?" She was getting a closer look and she was now sure this girl resembled her sister. Plus there had been the scent. She couldn't stop her self from adding another question. "You know you sort of look like my sister did when she looked like a kid. You don't know a Rimmon Mikayles do you?" She looked carefully at the girl and the fox. She was sure they couldn't escape her if they tried to run, but she didn't want to give the girl an opportunity to disappear either. |

As Shirine kept talking, all she could think about was just taking off if she looked away for a second. She liked wolves, didn't particularly care if they tried to hurt her. Sera had confidence that she'd be able to protect herself against ordinary wolves. "Hmph. I'm bigger than I look, jerk." Again, with the failure at making her lies believable. Her eyes widened, she took a deep breath when Shirine asked about Rimmon. She gave Shirine a strange side-glance, not wanting to tell the truth. "Maybe." she said slowly. Now that she mentioned it, she did recognise a few features that were very similar to her mother's. It was easy to believe that they were sisters, and that this woman was the long lost sister she had heard stories about. However, that only deepened her concern about being dragged back home. "Why? What if I do? What are you gonna do about it?" she asked, as if challenging Shirine's determination to keep her within eyesight. Her eyes moved, suddenly distracted by something, seemingly following a figure nearby. The thing she was watching was not visible to anyone but her, and it was tethered to her soul so it was always with her. Her face suddenly changed to anger and she stated firmly to it under her breath, "No, Ruby. Shut up." she covered her ears for a few seconds even though that did nothing to turn down the volume of Ruby's voice in her head. Sera looked back up at Shirine in frustration, and said reluctantly, "I'll go with you to the village but after that, I'm gone. I'll get my uncle after you if you try anything, and he's a big mean hellhound." she threatened, making it known that her family was quite powerful. That was the truth. If Shirine knew anything about Rimmon's real family, then she might be able to connect the dots right there. However, if she didn't, Seraphina was not going to make it easy. |

This was certainly a rebellious one and a foolish child too. Not even one hundred years old yet in all likely hood. Still she did agree to head for a village. She decided to test the girls knowledge of the area a bit. There was a village within an hour of here, but only the locals really knew of it. Shirine would head for the next one which would take three hours. "Well if we are going to the nearest village it should take about three hours. As for what I would do well I would ask where she is. I haven't seen her in years despite looking for her. I had almost given up hope. So any news would be much appreciated. Also you... well I don't care if I am a jerk. I prefer you stay alive and be a jerk, then see you die and be nice. You seem to be confident, but definitely too confident that will get you killed. I run a mercenary group and trust me the over confident ones die first. Even a simple wolf can kill an experienced adventure due to a little bad luck. You are not an experienced adventure so be careful. Heck if you want some worldly experience I can help. You can join my group and learn from us old experienced people. We even have a couple mages if magic is your thing. Or at the very least I can put you in contact with some of the locals around here." She held off on trying to lecture the girl until she felt her out a bit more. She suspected the girls family was worried sick... or perhaps they were actually a terrible family. No the girl looked in good condition. Probably just the teen years as they often called it. Regardless she continued to keep an eye on the girl as she started them moving towards the village. Thinking to her self, '...wait did she say her uncle was a hellhound.... that sort of sound like our family.... uggh I wish I had more of my true memories. Curse that drow, but could she be a relative? Ah too many questions.' |

Sera raised her eyebrows and nearly shouted "Three hours!? How many days is that?!" she asked, surprised that it would take so long. She had 'weeks' and 'hours' mixed up, though. Clearly she was still learning how to tell time. Time wasn't high on the priority list for demons, it seemed. Hearing Shirine's story about how the over-confident adventurers get killed first, Sera began to back off. She cared more about staying alive than she did about her ego or dignity. She wouldn't be able to have an ego if she was dead. There was still too much she had to do. "I guess so..." she said quietly, in a much calmer tone. She realised this woman was right. She seemed genuine in her desire to hear something about Rimmon, and it seemed as though she really cared about her staying alive. Maybe she could be trusted, but she would have to see whether Shirine actually took her to a village or not. She had no idea about the village that was less than an hour away from their location. Actually, she had no idea what this forest was even called, nevermind what's inside of it or around it. She perked up a little when offered some experience. "Yes, I'd really like to learn from a mage." She followed Shirine a couple paces behind her, with her coyote walking beside her. She still didn't feel comfortable getting closer than that, but that might change, depending on how Shirine reacted to her next statement. "Well, Rimmon is alive." she slowed down a bit, just in case Shirine made any sudden moves. "How's that for news? Why do you want to find her so badly, anyway?" She asked, still sounding bossy but not nearly as much as she did previously. |

Shirine chuckled a little at the girl's mistake of time. She was a race with a long life span for sure. Those tended to have a hard time with learning time. "There are twenty four hours in a day you know, so it is not to bad." She listened pleased at the responses. It seemed the girl was smart enough to know when to back down and learn. Good this meant she would go far. Then the girl confirmed that Rim was at least alive and something about the way she said it made her think she was hiding something. .... a run away. Had a hellhound uncle.... was avoiding talking about Rim... the girl was young enough.... no .... no she couldn't be.... that drow had been.... She almost stumbled a bit as the thoughts passed through her head. She decided to answer the girl, "Thank you for telling me that much. I hope you can tell me more too. Even that small amount of news brings me some joy. She and I went through a lot together in the past and we are family. I love her deeply as my sister. It really hurts to be separated from those you love without knowing what has happened to them. There really aren't words to describe the feeling really. It just hurts... worse than any physical wound. Was she alive or dead or worse.... there are many worse things out there like that! that! drow!!!... Sorry old memories get me a bit. The pain is dulled with time, but then it never goes away and can flare at the smallest things. At the same time meeting with her again would bring me a lot of joy that would probably make me forget a lot of that pain. I hope you told your parents where you were going or you will cause them a lot of pain and worry if you didn't. Even if you don't think they care it will cause them pain. Oh and you know you haven't told me your name yet? It is sort of rude you know." She didn't voice her suspicions yet, but she did hint that she knew Seraphina was a run away. It was too obvious to her. She had seen too many runaways apply to her group. |

When she was corrected on her mistake of time, she scratched the back of her neck in embarrassment. "Oh, right...ok." she said quietly, trying to remember that. She was horrible at remembering how time worked. She understood the lunar cycle perfectly, but couldn't seem to grip the fact that there were measures of time smaller and larger than that. Now she was sure that this woman had good intentions. If she really was family, then opening up wouldn't be such a bad idea. "My name is Seraphina. I like people to call me Sera." she bowed her head, now feeling a bit bad that she didn't think of how her mother would feel about her disappearance. She just wanted to get away for a while and prove to herself that everybody had a father. She considered Shirine's words for a few moments, and then finally decided to speak. "I can tell you where she is... or at least, where she was when I ran off. But not yet. She told me stories about you. About the connection that she built with you, about how you helped her name her kitten Lomiel... About how Drow elves are the most evil of all the elven races, that's why their skin is so dark. She said my hair is as dark as their skin but she said I'm not evil like them. Anyway, she is alive and well." she paused for another moment, really hesitating on saying something, but felt like she needed to say it. "And.... ummm," she stopped and waited until Shirine turned to face her before she finished her sentence. "She's... umm...." She still hesitated, and shook her head and continued walking, motioning for Shirine to keep leading the way. "She's ok, you know? She misses you." That's not what she was wanting to say, but for now she tried to avoid saying it. "She umm... I remember her saying she wished you were around to meet me. That you'd know more, or be better, or something." She wasn't going to say it out loud that she was Rimmon's daughter, but she also hoped that Shirine wouldn't be able to guess right away. At least not before they got to the village. Once they were at the village, then she'd probably confirm Shirine's suspicions if she didn't somehow force it out of her before then. |

She listened learning the girl was called Sera. She also seemed to be thinking on things more. The more the girl talked the more she felt a smile on her face. It seemed life had gone on for her sister and had not been too unpleasant. Still the words made her quite sure of her suspicions When Sera paused for a minute she could sort of feel what the girl was a bout to say. She looked at the girl and said, "Rim is your mother isn't she?" If Sera denied Rim was her mother Shirine would look at her with a slight disbelieving look, but leave it with just the words, "Hmm really now. Ah well I would have been lucky to have a niece as cute as you. You sure you aren't?" Then continued walking along. If Sera confirmed that Rim was her mother Shirine couldn't help smiling and saying, "Ha so I have a niece. She is a cute one too. This is wonderful and totally going have to spoil you rotten for all the years I missed with you and your mum. Forgive me, but I have to greet you properly as a family member now." She would then give Sera a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Well then now that, that is over with want to see a secret of mine. It will also get us to town a bit faster and may be a bit fun too." Shirine was quite happy and clearly enjoying herself at this point for the first time relaxing her watch just a little. |

She froze up and stopped walking when Shirine was able to guess what Rimmon was her mother. She answered with a simple "Yes." and watched her closely. She was relieved to see that Shirine was really happy about it. In turn, it made Sera a lot happier about her situation as well. She couldn't help but smile and showed off her sharp teeth at the same time. She liked the sound of being spoiled rotten. It was good Shirine was volunteering to do what Sera already wanted. She hugged her back a little bit when Shirine gave her the proper family member greeting, and smiled back. "Now we can get up to all types of shenanigans together and tell Rimmon about the awesome time we had when we get back! But I feel like I should send her a message somehow, just to tell her that I'm ok. Knowing her, she's probably hunting down some poor sucker who's going to get killed if he doesn't answer correctly." She thought to herself 'There's no way mom will let me out of her sight once I get back... there must be a way to send her a message... maybe I could get Trixie to go back... It isn't too far...' She sighed, hoping Shirine would have ideas about sending messages around here. Sera didn't have any friends, so she wasn't familiar with how to send animals off to the right people, or how to give caravans the right information. She perked up again at the mention of a secret. "Yeah, what's your secret? How can a secret be fun?" she asked, patiently waiting for her to reveal this amazing thing that will get them to the village faster. |

Shirine smiled and transformed. Into her hybrid form and spoke before continuing, "A small bit of power that was a curse by the drow, but I sort of made it my own over the years. A bit different than most of our family I suppose. I can shift into a full tiger too and will in a moment and you can ride me while holding your little pet. Certainly will be faster and more relaxing for you. As for your mother I will ask some friends in town to find her. Just tell me where she is while we travel. She can meet us at the village latter. In the mean time tell me about your self and why you are trying to run away. Then we can figure out a good plan that your mother will approve of. Having a good plan will show you are ready to taking a trip on your own. Trust me letting her see you off in person will work out much better. You don't want her chasing you down latter as she will just be angry and she is scary when she is angry. Plus you will have me vouching for you and she should be happy as I am about seeing each other again." She shifted fully and gave Sera an opportunity to get on her back before moving again. Her clothes shifted in a simple saddle for Serra too. Her tiger form was quite large so it was easy for her to support Sera. Edited by Shirine, Mon Feb 22, 2016 2:23 am.

She nodded, impressed that Shirine was able to shapeshift. Sera certainly wasn't jealous; she really liked the way she was but she could see how having these different forms would be very convenient in the right situation. "Ok, yeah that sounds fair." she agreed with everything Shirine said, and nodded. "Oh," she raised her eyebrows as Shirine transformed into her full tiger form and took a moment to notice that it was more than just a bit different. It was a lot different. She began to wonder how much Shirine actually knew about her mother's family. She didn't think now was a good time to bring it up, though. "That is a pretty cool secret." She climbed onto Shirine's back, Trixie jumped into her lap once she was comfortable, and then once they were moving, Seraphina began to tell her story. "Well, I guess you should know that I am able to use magic, I just don't have much practice. My mother always tried to just let me have fun and do kid things, but my idea of fun isn't ideal in her mind, I guess. I learned how to make fire on my own, but I don't know any other spells just yet. My mother tried to keep me away from using my magic, or that's just the way she always seemed to act. I've never seen her use magic, but she must have some in her. I can feel it." she paused for a little while, trying to get herself back on track. "She always told me that I don't have a dad. Sometimes she says he's dead, or that he abandoned us, or that he doesn't care about us and never wants to see us again. She always changes her story, and I just want to know the truth. I've bugged her so much about just telling me the truth but she refuses! I don't understand it. So, I'm running away to find out the answers about my father." she said the last part very matter-of-fact and seriously. "I'm not going back until I find proof of what happened and who my father really is." |

Shirine moved along at a good clip with the girl on her back. She wondered how her sister would react to her still having a form like this. It was from that time, but also not... time was weird really. She had just learned to accept this form. She listened to her niece as she explained things. Revealing her goal made Shirine worry a bit. She suspected something, but she would need to confirm it with Rim first. She hopped she was wrong. If so she would have to keep the girl from confirming the truth until she was much older. She decided to focus on other things. First the girl needed a trainer if she wanted to explore magic. Shirine wasn't good at that... well besides some instinctual stuff. Well the girl would also need some melee knowledge. Most mages ignored that stuff and it became a weakness. She decided she would teach Sera at least some sword basics. "Hmm... I see well your goal is not an easy one. You will have to gain some experience to tackle a mission like that. I would say first some training. I will introduce you to a decent mage from my group that could help you with magic. I also think you should learn some basic self defense. I know the sword the best so I hope you won't mind me teaching you a few basics of the blade. Once you know more of magic and/ or the sword. I can get you in on a few missions with my company. You can travel with me and my allies, so you should be able to visit a lot of places in decent safety and doing jobs is the best way to gain experience in the ways of the world. How does that sound to you? May be a bit slow to start, but it should get you going." Shirine continued to ponder the problem of the girls search for her 'father' as she moved through the forest. She hopped the girl would accept her ideas for now as that would keep her busy for quite a while. Also she need to learn where Rim was. That would be her next question. She thought about it for a few minutes, and then finally responded. "What do I need experience with a blade for? I just want to go find him and talk to him. I don't want to kill him." Sera was confused. She was excited by the idea of getting to learn more about magic, but at the same time, she couldn't understand why she needed to know how to fight in order to find out who her father is. Sera shuffled in her seat, looking at the ground as they moved along. She sat back up and hugged her coyote tightly, unsure of what to do. "I mean," she explained, "I'd love to learn about magic and how to use a sword, but I don't get what that has to do with finding my father. Do you think he'll want to attack me?" She had never thought it through before, and figured she didn't need to know self defense. She figured her only challenge would be finding food, water, and shelter between here and where ever her father was. "Maybe you can talk Rimmon into coming with us?" The thought of the road between here and there being so dangerous that she'd actually need to know self defense made her pretty nervous about running off for it right now. She knew she wasn't ready to fight for her life. She just wanted answers. |
