[tabs][tab=Flaws]| Flaws |
|---|
| Deep Sleeper | Gaiana can only be awakened by extremely loud noises or being physically shaken, prodded, etc. Even when she does wake up, she spends several moments unable to do anything other than try to shake the cobwebs away and groggily sit up.
| | Dislike of Nobility | In Gaiana’s experience, those of noble blood tend to prefer ruling over serving. They’re akin to pirates more often than not, taking what they can and giving nothing back despite the responsibilities inherent in their titles. They flaunt their wealth and squander it because they can. They care little for those that fight for survival or commit themselves to day after day of hard labor for the same reason. It is their generally selfish, greedy, ambitious, and manipulative natures that has caused Gaiana to avoid them whenever she can.
| | Fanaticism | This can be a substantial disadvantage for a character. The fanaticism can be dedication to a particular cult, religion, or god; or it can be more worldly-based in the sense of overwhelming loyalty to a state, a military presence, or to a particular leader. Whatever their sources, the different types of fanaticism have several things in common. If a certain code of behavior is called for by the belief, then the character must conform to that behavior - even if it conflicts with the immediate goals of the character. While fanaticism is not necessarily evil, it may certainly become tiresome to those who do not share the fanatic’s beliefs.
Tenets 1. Life is pain. 2. Life is suffering. 3. Weapons are forbidden. 4. Armour is forbidden. 5. Wolves and foxes are sacred.
The Philosophy Behind the First Two Tenets The truth hurts. That is to say, the truth is painful. The truth will also set you free. If the truth is painful, and if it sets you free, then pain will set you free by definition.
Ergo, indulge in pain, for it is the path to ultimate freedom.
Freedom is but one tool you must acquire on the road to enlightenment. Enlightenment is the final tool you must acquire in order to attain true fulfillment. Mortals often achieve enlightenment by learning from their mistakes and from their pain.
Ergo, to experience pain is to become enlightened; and to experience enlightenment is to be fulfilled.
Ultimately, this means that pain is the first stone that must pave your road to fulfillment.
Thus, pain is fulfillment.
The road you pave is the road of destiny, yet fate is unchangeable. Destiny is what one causes to happen. Fate is what must happen regardless of one's thoughts, feelings, or actions. Thus, if pain is fulfillment and your path to fulfillment is the road upon which you travel, then pain is ultimately your destiny. If you accept that pain is your destiny and believe it as you believe the reality of the world around you, then your destiny becomes your fate.
Ergo, pain is your fate.
Rejoice in this knowledge, for it is but one of many sources of enlightenment, which you seek as one of the many paving stones of your road to fulfillment.
Gaiana’s Truth Gaiana has never fully understood the philosophical machinations of her Order. However, she does understand one thing: that pain is good. It reminds her that she is alive, a fact that gives her strength (i.e. confidence, determination). Does this make her a masochist? Perhaps…or perhaps she simply realizes that without pain, she would be no more alive than a rock worn away by the sea. It is her choice which pain she will succumb to, and therefore her choice to either live or die. Thus far, she has always chosen to live. Does she fear death? No. But neither does she believe that her time to die has yet come.
Ergo, pain is life.
| | Night Blindness | Gaiana’s night vision isn't worth a rat’s tooth due to a physiological deficiency.
| | Proud | Gaiana hates accepting help from others. If she can’t do something herself, she has no business bothering someone else about it. She’s extremely independent in this regard. She also refuses to accept anything that even slightly reeks of charity or pity.
| | No Retreat | Gaiana is more likely to die trying to protect someone who deserves to live than she is to flee from a fight.
| | Reaction Penalty | Gaiana tends to rub people the wrong way the first time she meet them. People naturally distrust and/or dislike her, often without obvious reason. After they get to know her, it is not so bad if they do not become her friends, and she has gotten so used to this that she doesn’t even think about it anymore.
| | Reckless | Gaiana lacks the emotion of fear. Unfortunately, it is often an important cue that keeps mortals from doing foolhardy things. Sure, she doesn't flinch at the sight of even the most hideous monster, but neither does she feel the need to run away when outclassed.
| | Righteous | Gaiana has no qualms regarding the commission of heinous acts (e.g. torture) in order to get the information or results she needs. This is almost always in an attempt to protect or rescue someone else. | [/tab] [tab=Languages]| Languages |
