| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It was good to be travelling again. She had decided to visit home for a while. Though she loved her homeland and her brother, the two of them could not be together for long without fighting. Much to his protesting, she had once again packed up and left. One day she would return home for good, but that was a long time off. She shifted her pack to rest more comfortably on her shoulders. It was nice to be well supplied for trips, but it did make for a rather heavy pack. She really heading to any particular place with a driven purpose. So she walked at a nice leisurely pace. It had been a long time since she had visited Casacadia. Maybe she should head there to see how things were going. Or she could always find work in Taras or join a caravan in Kellen... This is how her train of thought flowed as she strolled through the woods. |

"Go and look to the west of our camp. See if you can find anything that would be of use to us in the coming days. Make haste and don't dawdle." The words of her mother rang through Minella's mind as she went about her super secret scouting mission. It was super secret because no one but Minella and her Clan knew where she was - not that there was anyone around that would have any inkling of an interest of where she was that wasn't in her Clan, but making it a secret all the same made the mission feel important. "The best secrets are ones that nobody knows about," she said in a sing song voice. Then a thought occurred to her. "Wait a minute. Isn't the whole point of a secret the fact that nobody knows about it? So that means that this secret that isn't really a secret is still a secret because no one outside the Clan knows about it because they wouldn't have been around to hear tell of it because there's literally nobody around! Ha! So it's a double secret!" Rather pleased with herself, Min climbed up a nearby tree with little effort. "Don't climb up trees, you silly girl. You're as like to fall on your noggin as you are to get anywhere with climbing a tree!" Another one of her mother's many nags floated about on the edge of Min's attention and was as soon gone as it had appeared. So climbing she went! Luckily, the trees of this forest were particularly thick and close together, so jumping from thick tree branch to tree branch was a breeze - much like the one that Minella felt as soon as she reached the desired height. That same breeze nearly knocked her off the branch, but that was neither here nor there and Min was pretty sure that no one saw it, and thus promptly forgot about it. Jumping from tree to tree was one of Minella's 'tree' favorite past times (she absolutely felt proud of herself for coming up with such a clever pun and took every chance she got to show it off to her Clanmates). The other things she liked to do were scouting missions and singing songs. Sadly, she was the only one that appreciated the latter - apparently singing for no reason at all was something that nobody in her Clan really cared for. "Buncha sad sops they are, not singin' for fun." Minella started singing a song that consisted of the words: "Sad sops" and "Quack like a Cow". After a good time of flitting about on the trees, Minella caught sight of a sparkly something a short distance away. As she went about the branches like an ape, she got a better look at it and saw that it was a small creek. Jumping down, Minella inspected the water. Clear - check. Cool - check. Not stagnant or still - check. This mental checklist completed, Minella gave herself a thumbs up by popping up both her thumbs and then smashing them together as if they were two combatants fighting for their lives. She turned to head back home when she stopped still; she let her hood down, letting her fur covered pointy ears loose. She had heard a noise - a crack to be specific - and she was not sure of who, or what, it could have been. Scrambling quickly up the nearest tree, Minella positioned herself so that she could get a better look. Her curiosity was piqued when she saw that is was a person. To be more specific, it looked like a woman. "She's a looker, ain't she?" Minella whispered to the squirrel that had popped up from its hole thinking that Minella's presence meant nuts were around. Minella silently clapped her hands together, not wanting to scare off the squirrel. "Oooh this'll be fun! Me spirits need a good tail, but what fun would be a tail if you don't sing any?" Her mind made up, Minella began to hop about the trees without a care in the world, all the while coming up with random tunes and noises - with some lovely percussion if she were to brag - that Minella had decided would be her spy music because, now no matter what anyone said, this was a super secret scouting SPY mission! "Doo doo DOO doo, I'm following some lady that dun look like nobody I see beFOre! La la la! Super Spy Mini! Dun dun dun! Super Spy MIni! Super Spy Mini is the best spy ever!" In the deepest most outskirtiest parts of her mind, the thought that the woman she was tailing might very be well aware of Minella because of her singing was trying all too hard to get out to no avail. |

The elf took a short break under the shade of a tree and took a drink from her water skin. The cool liquid was nice and refreshing. She tilted her head just slightly as she heard the faint rustling of leaves in the trees near by. It was not the wind that caused such a sound, there was something moving among the branches. Without giving a sign that she had noticed anything she moved on. Whatever was following her could move silently enough...if it had not decided to start...singing? She suppressed a small laugh. Well at least whoever had decided to tail her did not seem to have an malevolent intent, so there was no harm in being followed. She didn't know if this follower she had was doing it out of curiosity, enjoyment, or some other reason. Even though she did not believe it was a threat, she still kept subtle tabs on where she was. Eventually hunger began to nag at her and she found a nice spot to set herself down. She opened her pack and took out some bread, cheese, and dried meats. Some of this stuff would not last long for on a journey so it was best to eat them while they were fresh. Her brother had insisted she at least take enough for a few meals worth before she had to resort to hunting or rations. A part of her wondered if her little guest was hungry as well and would show up. |

"And lo, she stops!" Minella noticed the woman as she [the woman] reached into her belongings to bring out what looked like.... food? Food! At the mere thought of food, Minella's stomach rumbled something fierce and the Fox-eared girl remembered that she had forgotten to eat that morning. She didn't think to bring a snack to sate her whining belly, but seeing that food that her most curious yet-to-know-it friend was bringing out looked quite satisfying. "And is that - is that cheese I smell? Chee-hee-hee-hee-heese.... I want it - no! I need it!" Minella quickly jumped across the few branches that remained between her and the woman with a hungry skip in her step, or at least a step that was hungry and could still be done on trees as it was quite hard to actually skip on tree branches. Minella knew this from first-hand experience. Reaching the tree right above the woman, Minella sat on the thick branch, wrapped her legs tightly around it, and swung around until she was upside down and right in front of the woman's face. She stayed like that for a few seconds -simply staring. "Cheese. I smell cheese. Do you got cheese? I love cheese. Where's the cheese? Is that the cheese? What kind of cheese is it? It smells different from other cheeses I've seen. Can I have some?" Even as she spoke, Minella slowly reached out a shaking hand that moved towards the cheese. She didn't want to be rude, but something about cheese called to her palette and she couldn't help herself. "You know," she said - arm still reaching for the cheese, "I think I must be part mouse. I absolutely love cheese. I must have it. It is like.... the cheese of life, I suppose. I can't imagine a world without cheese. Can you? Of course you can't. Only an idiot would want such a world. And I can tell you are no such idiot. Do you like cheese? We should totally brie best friends. Two heads are cheddar than one, you know." Minella began to get quite light-headed due to the blood rushing into her face from hanging. Not even the most amazing cheese puns could prevent the sudden dizziness. |

She smirked as she heard her following coming closer and eventually was in the branches right above her. Even though she knew where Minella was, she had not expected her to hang upside down in front of her. Mistalee jerked back just slightly to see the girl's face right in front of her's. She then let out a joyful laugh. It seemed like she had been accurate in assuming this person was not a threat to her. She seemed too innocent and well...silly, to bear any malice to someone like herself. "It's an elven made cheese," she said as she cut a piece and offered it to Minella. "There is a bit of honey it, giving it a light sweet flavor. I have not see it's like in human settlements. I also have a few others that are more commonly found." She gestured to the ground next to her with a smile. "Why don't you join me and I shall share what I have with you. My name is Mistalee." As she waited for her new friend to join her on the ground she set out a cloth and placed out her various provisions. It was always nice to have a companion for meals, so she had not qualms about sharing. She could not help but laugh at the horribly bad puns being tossed her way. "Sadly I have no brie, soft cheeses like that don't travel well. Besides that sort of cheese is best when you are able to bake it before hand. I do have some goat's milk cheese and some cheddar though.: |
