| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Fighting Style: Up close and personal. A brawler. Enjoys fighting and violence in general. Has no problem with killing, but doesn't particularly enjoy it for its own sake (wouldn't go out of her way to go on a killing spree without a reason). Miscellaneous Notes:
Background Hecheon: A small, somewhat isolated alliance of communities on the west coast of Imythess, found within the semi-arid shrublands between Debon and Istan. Not quite populous enough to be a country of its own. Communities share enough cultural and religious traits to remain a harmonious political entity. The largest settlement in Hecheon, Belyth, was recently attacked and partly leveled by Illinaeth, a nature spirit worshiped by Hecheon citizens as the god in their dualistic religion. Illinaeth: A nature spirit who the citizens of Hecheon believe is the god in their dualistic religion. Also called the Tender or the Shepherd, it is the caretaker of all living things, a steward of nature, and the living manifestation of all the good in the world. It is often represented as a deer. Once believed to have a kind and gentle disposition -- until Illinaeth was successfully given material form using a mortal vessel. The nature spirit was disgusted by the atrocities Hecheon citizens committed in order to bring itself and its anti-god counterpart, the Ivory Vulture, into the world of humans. Ivory Vulture: A nature spirit who the citizens of Hecheon believe is the anti-god in their dualistic religion. Considered the living manifestation of all the world's evils, but is most often associated with symbols of death (and all evils that cause it, such as war). It is taboo to speak the Ivory Vulture's true name, Areiaesedo. It holds dominion over animals that are scavengers. Zela was groomed almost from birth to be the Ivory Vulture's vessel. When the summoning was successful, the Vulture admitted to Zela that it was not divine in any way, and neither was Illinaeth. Vessels: Following a series of natural disasters, drought and famine, the people of Hecheon were convinced that the Vulture was growing too strong and the world would end if they didn't intervene. By giving both their god and their anti-god physical form, the two could do battle. Illinaeth would surely win, delaying the apocalypse. Hecheoni priests scoured the region for children who could make suitable vessels -- ones who already appeared to be "blessed" by Illinaeth or the Vulture. Once found, these vessels were groomed to be the perfect mortal embodiments of their respective "deities" by any means necessary. The Battle: The summoning worked, but Hecheon did not receive the battle it wanted. Illinaeth, furious with the methods used to bring it and the Vulture into the human world, began to attack every person and every facility involved in the process. It separated itself from its vessel, a man named Vitr, and separated the Vulture from Zela. Illinaeth then attempted to mercy-kill Zela, who had suffered the most as a matter of course. Unwilling to die, Zela escaped, alive but afflicted with an unhealing injury. Brands: Zela has a brand on each shoulder: the Brand of Freedom and the Brand of Suffering. The Brand of Freedom separates her from the confines of Hecheon society, culture and morality, allowing her to perform atrocities worthy of the Ivory Vulture. The Brand of Suffering poisons her fate and draws bad fortune into her life in order to increase her suffering, filling her with the hatred and bitterness needed to attract the anti-god. |
