Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

They heard the horns first. Elves immediately started moving, grabbing bows and blades. The outskirts of the village were awash with their lithe, flitting forms as each took up position, facing the direction signaled by the scouts. Ivyn.

Several figures in dark cloaks took up positions among their fellows, hoisting large bows with specially runed arrows. The snares were relatively new, created to combat the occasional rampant Ivyn that came stomping around their capital. Disrupting the magic that animated the Ivyn, the snares could hold them in place so the Feadin could get in close enough to dispatch them.

The beast burst from the brush, blowing branches thick as a man's leg aside as if it weren't there. It was massive, far larger than the usual Bull Ivyn. “Damn druids have been busy.” One of the Feadin muttered, lifting a bow.

Hearne planted his left hand against the man's chest, fingers growing and extending to wrap around his torso and pin him in place. The druid screamed in protest, spittle flying in Hearne's face as the branches extended and tightened, binding the man thoroughly. When Hearne retracted his hand, the branches stayed, growing around the trunk. “Stay. I'll be back for you.”

The elder druid turned to leave his prey. He only made a few steps before the manic druid began growling and chanting, moving his fingers and rocking his head. Vines reached for Hearne, but seemed to hit a barrier inches from his skin. Hearne spun on the spot and closed the distance. The sudden motion startled the man, bringing a yelp as Hearne gripped both his hands in his. There was a crackling as he crushed the bones in his palms. The scream was muffled by a thorny gag growing into his mouth, holding his mouth wide. Turning, Hearne sprinted after the rampant beast.

Before the elf could let off a shot, a second movement caught his eye. He immediately sighted the druid running in after the Bull Ivyn. Swapping the arrow for a normal length, the Feadin immediately let off the shot.

Hearne snarled as the metal tip dug into his shoulder, his leap thrown off. Instead of landing on the creature's back, he hit its side, sliding down the writhing, bark-like vines. Extending wooden claws, he dug them into the Ivyn's side and climbed up. He plunged a hand into the base of the creature's neck, searching. Arrows dug into the Ivyn around him and he was briefly distracted by one planting itself in his thigh. Shoving his arm deeper, he seized what he was looking for and ripped it out. The knot of wood was slightly larger than his fist, covered with runes. The Ivyn began to slow it's charging and bucking, slowly collapsing as it burned out the remnants of its energy.

Hearne stood on the beast's back, jumping down and approaching the front line of elves. Gripping the arrows, he bared his teeth in pain as he pushed them through and gripped their heads, pulling them completely through. He paused to pull free the arrow in his leg. Holding the two in his right fist, he threw them to the churned up mud. Pointing a finger at the lead man, the Feadin now holding a nocked snare. Hearne pointed back at the beast. “You're letting the druids get out of control. If you don't start pushing them back, yer gonna start finding a whole lot of crazy bastards pinned to your--” An arrow came flying toward him from the side. His eyes flared in fury as it dug into his side, whispping a hand out. The panicked elf let out a painful cry as tendrils erupted from the tree beside him, gripping him and holding him prone, thorns beginning to dig in. As his vision began to cloud, shuddering, the last thing Hearne saw was the snare arrow digging into his chest.

Hearne awoke in a hanging cell, iron surrounding him. There was no contact to the earth to draw on, nor any wood immediately around to work with. Dusk had fallen, sky orange through the canopy above. Slumping back against the bars of his cage, he waited for his sentence. After nearly an hour of waiting, he began slapping his manacles against the bars of his cage. “Come talk with your estranged cousin, your holy highness.” He singsonged out, cage ringing with each blow.

This had no been a good day for Raenthul. He had run into some strong winds above Noorwood. Inable to keep control he hax tumbled down among the trees. Then he had been caught. Vines trying to wrap around him. A horde of what he haeard were called Ivyn. Looked like a large group. Several had vines warping around him. The worst part was they were tearing his clothes. He was not hapoy as Iit meant hourse of work to fix this sort of thing and even then an oitfit was often ruined.

He hit the thing with his unbrella a shockand a thunderous boom was let out ecping through the forset. Saddly it did little to the plant. He tried his fan which worked better slashing through some of the whip like vijes. The wind ripping him away. Luckily no wounds beyond a small scratch on his leg. He oppened his Inbrella blockong some more vines which nocked him back into a strong gust of wind.

Sent flying again he landed face first into a hanging cage. Whoch he quickly stuck his inbreall through a cirner as an achor. He looked down flaping in the wind for several minutes until the gust past. He saw a man inside. A strange one at that. The cage was rocking on the wind creeking a bit. Raenthul called over the noise, "Ah hello sir. Good evening and sorry for intruding... oh you seem to be a prioner. I hope youd didn't do anything truely bad. Bu the way my name is Raethul and you are?"

The wind was slowing down, maybe the wind was done messing with him for now. He was settling into a more steady floating poition near the cage. Almost like a perzon sitting down on the grund except he was in the air holding on to the unbrella still.

It was now that Raenthul heard a rustling from a ways off fifteen twenty minutes maybe. That ivyn hord was following great. He sighed speaking his thoughts out loud. "Oh bother those Ivyn creatures are coming this way I think. There was quite a number of them I think. Probably dangeours to stay here.... sigh. Must be angry at me escaping them. I really wish I had gotten that sanctuary tatoo now. It would be nice if things left me alone and stopped destroying my clothes.... He sounded perfectly calm the entire time as if just stating facts. No reall sensd of urgency or terror at what was comming or what he had escaped. The most emotion was tthe sound of annoyance his clothes being damaged.
