Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It was Volare’s turn to be surprised as she was effortlessly flipped onto her back. A struggle began, yet it was not a violent one. It was a struggle born of passion, one that quickly devolved as the two began to succumb to their animalistic desires. She would spend the rest of the night mating with the weretigress, as much for a distraction as for a release. Their passion thankfully carried them away from the kill , for play was a part of their actions this night as well. When both of them were exhausted, now away from the Fairy Ring and lost amid the darkness, sleep came more quickly than Volare would have liked. Yet the bliss could only last for so long…
She awoke shortly before dawn, yet she did not move or speak. Shirine lay close to her, yet behind her, their bodies almost forming a spoon. The ground was cold and wet and rough, yet she did not mind that. In truth, it felt good; she would have chosen a softer spot in which to lie had she been in control of herself, but she ignored the irritants. It took her but a few moments to begin recalling all that had happened. It was a blur, and a violent one at that, but she was all too familiar with the worst of her memories. For a long while, she sobbed quietly. It was more panic than depression; she got over her revulsion quickly. By by the time the sun’s light had begun to filter into this part of the forest, her tears had long vanished. Only red streaks remained, and they could be partially concealed with dirt. She would remember the events of last night for a long time to come, both with fondness and a lack thereof.

But when Shirine awoke at last and spoke softly to her, she had already come to terms with what she had done…with what Shirine’s bite had made her do. She didn’t blame Shirine. How could she? It was what had needed to be done, and if she was to be honest with herself, she felt more relieved than anything by the release of so much tension since she had come here. The hunt, their passion…they had been necessary. She subtly brushed her hand against the dirt and then across her face as though she was merely brushing stray hairs aside. She rubbed her eyes a bit with her knuckles, making certain that she didn’t get any dirt in them. She had a myriad questions come into her mind, almost all of them answered as soon as she found herself asking them. A few took a bit longer, and a few were not answered at all. One that she innately already knew the answer to, however, she asked aloud regardless. She wasn’t sure why. Perhaps it was the emotional turmoil she’d gone through. Perhaps it was simply a need for momentary comfort. Whatever it was, she spoke in spite of herself. Her quiet tone was meek, yet even now, there was a small bit of strength behind it.

“Has the worst passed now?” she inquired, her voice almost a whisper. “Will it be easier to change after this?”

Shirine held Volare in a tight hug. She was still in her hybrid form as she did not need the moon. "Yes it will be easier and I have a full lunar cycle to teach you how to control your inner beast. Once you have control then unless you help another like I did you last night, there should be no risks. Even then it should be possible to resist. Now you hold still and don't look." They were some distanc away, but ths boar was still there. Shirine picked up Volare like a princess. She did this even if she fought a bit. If she fought a lot Shirine would let her down.

Still Shirine would carry or lead Volare over to a patch of moss that was soft and surounded by brush. It would keep her from hearing or seeing what Shorine was going to do. It was up wind too. [Colod=green]"Now just stay here and relax you are probably more exhausted then me. I am.. going to go clean up things."[/color] Shirine then went back to carve and cook the meet of the boar. She harvest the skin too. Being well prepaelred she had all the tools she neded in her bag. It would take hours to get it ready and packaged for travel. Still once the carving was done and the meat sat near a firee she washed herself and brought over a bag of fruits and greens to Volare.

She sat down not sure what to say. She wanted ro say several things, like sorry or I love you, but nothing came for the moment. She wondered which of them would break the silence first.

Volare didn’t have the energy to return the hug, but she felt a swell of warmth that had nothing to do with body heat. She let herself be picked up by Shirine. Part of her was still irritated at having to be carried, as it made her feel helpless…yet she knew the intent behind it, emotional and otherwise. She felt good, being in Shirine’s arms. She knew what Shirine was probably going to do, and she didn’t blame her. She would have done the same thing, most likely, were the roles reversed and her aversion was Shirine’s instead. She had a headache slowly developing, mostly due to her senses being overloaded right now. She was dealing with it well enough but it was all a bit much. She held her head in her hands while Shirine worked. When she looked up again, she blinked in surprise. Her attire was hung over a low branch nearby, her gear with it. There were scratches in the trunk, as from a beak and claws…that bird…that strange bird that she kept seeing…that must have been the one responsible. And yet, as she looked around, she saw no other sign of it.

But she was distracted by Shirine’s return. She thanked Shirine wordlessly. They sat together for a long while. Volare ate slowly, savouring the feeling of being au naturale in a forest once more. It felt…it felt like it had back in Gwyllion, strangely enough. It felt welcoming and comfortable, as though she was exactly where she was supposed to be. She decided in her mind that even after she bathed, she would probably only collect her gear. She didn’t particularly feel like getting dressed. Besides, this deep in the woods, it was almost impossible to find anyone. Even if there were elves hiding nearby, she just didn’t feel the modesty that so many people seemed to think was normal today. She’d allow her wardrobe outfit to drape itself over her as necessary when she drew closer to civilization but for now…for now, she would remain as she was. This was the best way to remain.

The silence between them might have seemed awkward to Shirine, yet it was only partially so to Volare. It was more soothing, actually. She was glad just to have Shirine near her, to be able to feel her presence and know that she was not completely alone any longer. She had felt more alone than usual last night, and yet, she had felt connected as well: connected to nature, as she felt now; connected to Shirine, as she also felt now; and connected to a part of herself that she wasn’t entirely certain she wanted to be connected to. And yet, she could not change who she was…what she was, perhaps, but not who. She drew in a deep breath some time after she had finished eating. It was Volare who broke the silence.

“What happens now?”

Shirine's clothes also hung to the side near Volare's. She enjoyed it just as much as Volare. She considered things and the Volare spoke to her. She didn't have all the answers, but she did decide on one thing. She was going to say it. "Well I am not sure about everything, but I will train you and... no what I want to say is ... I... well I have felt worried for you and felt pain with you and happiness too. Through it all I don't think I want to really part with you and after last night even if we were wild I am sure that I am not alone in those feelings.

What I mean to say is that I love you Volare and hope you might consider becoming my mate?"

She was blushing bright enough to see through her orange fur and wondered if she had gone to far. She had never thought about having a partner, but now here she was desperately hopping the answer wasn't no. She had companions and allies from her mercenary group, but only Volare had helped fill well a void inside her.

She couldn’t say she was shocked by the question. It was true that they had shared quite a lot. Shirine had seen her scars. She had seen Volare’s anger. She had born witness to the horrors of those that assaulted her kind. She understood that there were things in Volare’s past that she wasn’t ready to share just yet…bad things…really horrible things - things that a part of Volare wished she could just forget. But the future…that was uncertain. Volare was silent for a long time.

It wasn’t right to take what someone else was willing to give and then forsake them entirely. Volare had the power she needed now. It grew inside her. She could feel it still. She was restless, her senses were overwhelming her, and yet she felt freer than she had since before the humans had come to Gwyllion. She felt powerful. But she needed to know what to do with that power, how to control it - and for that, she still needed Shirine. Was that all there was to this, then? Was Shirine just another tool for her, just another weapon? When had she become so cold?

It wasn’t just that, though. This was but one step on the road she knew she had to travel. She also inherently knew that she had to travel this road alone, for what she had to do was not going to be easy - least of all for Volare. But Shirine had been nothing but kind, compassionate, considerate…and yes, loving. She couldn’t let her be destroyed because of what Volare knew that she must become. If she was to survive her ordeal entirely, she must be reborn. She must become a monster. She must become the very thing she loathed: a killer. To do that, she needed power and she needed control of that power. The bird she kept seeing was a hint at something she had yet to discover. Perhaps she was not yet ready to discover it or face it. That would certainly explain why the cues hadn’t been more obvious. But that creature in the woods before…the birds that had attacked…

Cats and birds were natural enemies. What did this mean, then? She didn’t know.

But she knew that she didn’t want to hurt Shirine along the way. Eventually, she and Shirine would have to part ways. She knew this. She didn’t think Shirine yet realized it. Shirine’s question only served to drive that home, proving Volare’s point. Could she become Shirine’s mate? Physically, yes. Emotionally, yes. But mentally…? She would always be going back to what she needed to do, always be pulled in an entirely different direction…always looking the other way, wondering about the road she should have taken. She couldn’t do that to Shirine.

“I…”

She didn’t want to say no. She so desperately wanted to say yes. Both words would hurt Shirine in the end.

“I…don’t know.”

It was the most honest answer she could give. She started at her toes, wondering what to say and how to say it.

“I…suppose…I mean…”

She struggled for words, struggled for a solution she couldn’t yet comprehend. It was clear that there was more she wanted to say, more she wanted to express, yet she didn’t know how to share it. She hadn’t exactly said yes, true enough. But she hadn’t yet said no, either…

Shirine could see the conflict in Volare's eyes. She felt she knew the problem. That rage and desire for revenge. It was still strong in Volare. It might drive them appart... no she planned to ride this out and with time help Volare get passed this... even if it meant dirying her own hands. She was no paragon of good. A mercenary walked the moral line a lot. Many might call her a murderer for some jobs she had done. She always tried to take good jobs, but accidents and other things happened.

She moved next to Volare and kissed her on the lips before reponding. Why she did that she did not know, but she was flustered after thaf.

"Sorry I dropped this too soon... you have things you needed to do and I want to help you through it all. I am not sure what the future holds , but I hope we can at least try...let usjust see how far it goes....I just want you to be happy...wait I am just pushing more on to you

.. Sorry you do not have to answer now. "

She tried to hide it, but the hesitation in Volare had hurt. It was weird though that she still felt happy being near her. Her body langauge spoke of hthe hapoy side her face a mixture of both. Her heart beat had picked up enough that she was sure Volare could hear it. She still had a blush on her face. She was not sure what reaction Volare's response would cause her to have. If Volare accepted then she would be over joyed probably pouncing on Volare. If it was a maybe then she would find herself strangely accepting of it, but a little sad for a few hours. Rejection would cause her to be down cast the rest of the day.

A kiss…such a simple, sweet gesture…how could something so wonderful create so much complexity?

She savoured that kiss and longed for more when Shirine’s lips had parted from her own. She sighed deeply. After several more moments, she finally nodded. She felt that something needed to be said, however, rather than merely a motion of the head given in response to the question at hand.

”I shall be yours for as long as you will have me,” she said, ”and for as long as I can be had. But…”

She hesitated before continuing.

”You must know that being with me…it will not be easy.”

It was the only thing she could think to say. She wanted to say so much more, yet she could not bring herself to do so. But if nothing else, she hoped that Shirine would at least understand her “yes”. It was perhaps the most complex of hidden meanings, yet she did not mean for them to be hidden. But right now, she just wasn’t ready to share everything. It was enough - for her, at least - that Shirine understood that Volare had experienced things far worse than mere slavery in her homeland. If she understood that, then she would perhaps understand at least part of why Volare was the way she was - and maybe, in the end, she would understand what Volare was to eventually become. Even Volare wasn’t entirely certain what that was. She just knew that it wasn’t something anyone should ever have to become.

No one should have to become a monster to face off against monsters.

Shirine listened and actually understood more that Volare could have expected. Her slavery had not just been as a slave, but as a toy for experiments that literally toyed with her soul and existence as a person. Tried to twist both body and minds in ways that they were never meant to be. While she didn't fully understand everything she knew Volare's path would be a ... well a dark one in all likely hood, but she wanted to be there and help keep her from falling off the cliff so to speak.

She shifted into her elf form pouncing on Volare with a hug and a bright smile and some tears in her eyes. Once she felt a bit calmer she sat next to her close just leaning slightly against her new mate, "That was all I really wanted to hear. I will be there for as long as I can and trust me I know what I am getting into. There are things I haven't told you about my slavery it was much worse than just being a slave...

Still what I mean is I never expected easy. Easy has never been part of my life. This wouldn't be worth it if it was. I expect it to be harder than anything else I have done, but I chose you and will make this work as long as I can. Thank you for accepting me."

She gave Volare another kiss probably leading to other things. They could start the training for Volare's new were abilities tomorrow. For now it was just them and nature.

Their experiences were completely different. Of that, Volare was absolutely certain. But there was a certain kinship in the severity of their experiences, in the sheer horror of them. It wasn’t just a complete loss of power, both literal and figurative. It was deep, lacerating, eviscerating agony that struck hard and stayed long. Neither of them were “pure” individuals, by the sound of things, but neither were they alone any longer. Ever since waking up on that beach to a human bard, she had been scared and angry and desperate. She had tried to keep her head down and her weapon sharp. But now, she had someone to help her. Now she had someone to teach her what she needed to know - someone to grant her control over the power that had been given to her. In the coldest sense, she had another arrow in her quiver, so to speak.

But after last night, it was clear to Volare that this was far more than just a close friend or ally who had shared much with her - knowledge and experiences. And when their lips met once more, she welcomed it. She pressed her own lips into Shirine’s, embracing her just as Shirine had embraced Volare. She held the elven woman for a long time, perusing the curves of her loveliness; savoring the sweet, woodsy scent of her flesh and the soft feel of her caressing locks; taking in all that she was. Their romance had soon turned passionate, and as nature as their only witness, it was good.
