| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

“Raaaa!” Raina screamed and ripped down the picture from the wall, she shredded it with her fingernails, digging them into the paint and tearing the canvas apart in strips. She threw the remains at the floor and found that she wasn’t quite done being frustrated so she picked up the vase on the nightstand and threw it. It shattered against the wall, breaking into shards of clay, scattering the floor like little razors. She was already tearing apart the note, ripping at it with a frenzy she couldn’t control. Her nails missed the letter more than once, digging into the palm of her hand. She threw that to the ground too before she kicked over the nightstand. It fell with a thunk but didn’t break. So Rain stomped on it. She put all her weight into smashing the flimsy stand with her feet. She kicked and screamed and finally the thing gave way and her foot went through the side. A long piece of wood dug into her leg as it slid into the stand. She yanked her foot feet with an oath and kicked the wall. Angry with herself for not being able to break the stand more, faster, whatever. Just angry! She ran out of things to throw and break and grabbed one of her arrows, snapping it in half but before sinking to the floor and crying out the rest of her anger. The tears flowed hot down her cheeks and she rocked slightly on the floor. She let her body fall sideways finally feeling the chunks of pottery that were digging into her legs and now her side. She didn’t care. She curled up into a fetal position, tears spent, and lay there in silence. She felt numb, cold… empty. After what seemed an eternity she picked herself up off the floor and walked out the front door. She didn’t try to brush off the pottery bits still sticking from her skin, though some had clattered to the ground as she moved. Blood ran from the gash on her leg and more trickled from the various wounds from the pottery. Her entire side was bloody and some had started to seep through the linen shirt she wore. Her pants, ending just before her knee, were still surviving without the red drops sinking into them. A piece of pottery had stuck in her cheek and blood was flowing down the previous tear track. She yanked the piece out and flicked it away. Raina walked his heavy steps, they thudded down the road after her, her gait was steady but the air around her seemed to roil. She may feel empty but she still wanted to break things, wreck things, destroy things, destroy herself. She wanted to get lost in a moment and become someone she didn’t recognize so that maybe she could be someone different, someone she wasn’t. She wanted to make mistakes. Raina’s breath huffed out her nose, like a bellow fanning a flame. She wasn’t sure where she was going, but she was going and that was the point. |
