| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

A few hours after they got cleaned up from the battle, the caravan Lin and Rurik were traveling with reached the village. To someone who didn't know what to look for, the area didn't look like much of a village, at least not if one looked at ground level. There were a few things at ground level for the benefit of caravans and travelers, but most of the actual village was in the treetops, with buildings built into the trees and hanging walkways connecting things together. Lin was standing next to Rurik as others from the caravan started to do business with the elves. She said to him, "Well, here we are. Once the caravan is done with their business, we can speak with the elves who are handling the trading. They know both common and elvish, and at least one of them is good at teaching both languages. Until then, we should figure out a place for you to stay. Would you prefer to stay with me in my home up in the trees or down here in the inn? If you're with me, you'll be in a separate bedroom." Lin only mentioned the separate bedroom because she wanted to make it clear that staying with her would not create an uncomfortable situation for them. |

The elven village, at first glance, failed to impress. There were small homes and huts, formed by the careful tending of the roots of the great trees around them and vines to shade and protect the interior. Wonderous, but not a great bastion of elvenkind. He remembered the elven scouts from before and looked up... He gasped and didn't hear the first part of Linesi's words as he beheld the houses - tree mansions - and the crisscrossing branches, ropes, and bridges overhead. He caught her speaking of sleeping arrangements during his stay, offering her spare room to him. "I feel best to stay with a friend," he admitted, still straining his neck. "But...We go there?" He pointed up, at the civilization in the understory. "It is...It take my size?" |

Lin watched as Rurik looked at the village. It was obvious when he noticed that the main village was up in the trees, as he looked up, taking in the buildings and bridges and other things that were, for the most part, made out of the still living branches of trees. Rurik preferred to stay with 'a friend', which of course meant Lin. He did have some concerns, though, about the strength of the treetop village and his own size. Lin said, "You should be okay as long as you don't stray beyond the village proper, but I think you'll have other problems before you find a bridge that won't support you. My actual home should easily be strong enough for two or three of you. As long as you can deal with the heights and keep your balance, you'll do just fine up there. The hard part might be getting you up. You can try the usual vine ladders, but you could also use the lift normally used for heavy supplies, but you'll have to wait a while. The other option is for me to use my magic to lift you up. Up to you." Lin got the feeling he might want to get up himself, but even if he took a ladder, she would be ready in case he fell. Regardless of his decision, Lin intended to fly herself up using her wings and magic. |
