Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Who: redfiver though this cPRC is going towards my alt Sarin
Active: Yes
150g: Yeah I have this.
Why: I have already created a controled were-prc. This time I wanted to create the more traditional cursed were creature. Several abilities are the same as my previous True Were (Controlled) cPRC. This is intentional as this is more an alternative version. This is still a were creature after all so things like regeneration would be the same. I hope this can also lead to people creating their own True Were varient if mine does not work for them.

I know this is a new sort of cPRC request, but I see this as the way to create branching PRCs within cPRC rules. Hope this is okay.

For refrence and here is a small summary of diffrence to the previous cPRC:

Added a little extra description to level one. Some aditional disadvantages for cursed weres, because they are cursed and a special option to be able to pay a little and exchange levels to any other True Were class. Thus a person can start out cursed and find a way to control themsleves or such. Thus people do not have to waste their investment if their character developes beyond their base curse.

Level three has two new abilities.

Level five is a new ability.

The rest has already been reviewed and should be acceptable.

Anyways thanks for anyone reviewing this.

-----------------------------------------
True Were (Cursed)
Many know of the were creatures that live in these lands. The most famous being the were-wolf. This class explores those who have been cursed and have yet to find ways to control or handle their new power.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be or have contracted the curse of a were creature.
  • Specify a specific animal that is your were type. IE: were-wolf Or were-bear, etc.
  • Can not belong to any other PRC with True Were in the name.

Level 1

  • Were Body: On the full moon you may transform into your chosen animal or hybrid form. Your animal form is usually twice as large as an average creature of that type. You possess a tough hide with the same defensive property as Leather Armor, and your natural weapons are as sharp and hard as metal. In addition to being more deadly, these natural weapons are capable of deflecting metal weapons without harm. Your hybrid form remains humanoid in shape, but possesses the same natural capabilities of your animal form. Hybrid form also tends to be slightly larger than either of your other forms. At level two, you can transform as long as you can see the moon. At level three, you can transform at night even without the moon. At level four, you can transform at any time of day or night.

Cursed were creatures have little to no control of themselves when transformed. Often acting like a the beast, whose form they take. They are also usually much more violent when transformed. Many consider their transformed state a separate mind as well as body. However, this does not mean that transformed cursed weres are stupid. They are still capable of using tools and weapons. They can also plan traps or ambushes.

Special: At any point a were can pay an extra 50g to change all currently owned levels for equivalent levels of any other prc with the name True Were. This represents them learning control and moving beyond their curse.

(Note: Sizes can vary from were to were. The above is just the average result, but you may tweak this a bit to fit your character. Please use common sense for sizes.)

Level 2:

  • Immortal Were: Your curse refuses to let you die, instilling your body with amazing regenerative capabilities. When you are not transformed you can regenerate from light wounds in two posts and moderate wounds in four posts. When you are in your animal or hybrid form, the speed at which you regenerate is cut in half (one post for light, two posts for moderate). Severe wounds may also be healed, but they require you to enter a hibernation state that renders you defenseless and cannot be used in battle. Injuries from the Bane: Werecreature enchantment, the wounding enchantment, or silver weapons cannot be healed. This ability does not stack with any other sources of regeneration.

Level 3:

  • Natural Allies: A True Were (Cursed) will often form bonds with animals of it's own type. When in trouble it can call on up to two creatures of it's type to aid it in combat. These are often pack mates, hunt companions, etc. At level four the natural allies are also affected by Moon's Blessing and Moon Light Claws whhen you activate those abilities.

  • Bestial Instincts: While transformed a True Were (Cursed) functions mostly on animal instinct. These instincts are enhanced at this level making it impossible to surprise the True Were (Cursed) as long as the person is on the physical plane. This also gives them the ability to fighting invisible enemies without any penalties as long as the invisble person is within twentyfive feet of them.

Level 4:

  • Moon's Blessing: You are a favored child of the moon and perform best under its loving gaze. When this ability is activated you gain a non-magical buff to your agility equal to the Cat’s Grace spell and a non-magical buff to your strength equal to the Bull’s Strength spell. This ability can only be used while in your Were Body, lasts for four posts, and can only be used once per battle.

  • Moon Light Claws: Your natural weapons absorb and store the light of the moon For four posts you can use this energy to enhance your attacks while in your Were Body. When this ability is activated you gain the ability to more easily pierce solid materials. This allows you to easily rend through light armor and heavily damage medium armors. This also allows you to scale nearly any vertical obstacle by sinking your claws into its surface.

Level 5:

  • Beastial Frenzy: The curse is a powerful thing, but most of the time people try to hold it back unconsciously. However, in desperate situations a True Were (Cursed) either lets the curse have full control or the curse has fully consumed their mind. The character will have no concept of friend or foe. They will be in their hybrid or fill beast form and will grow at least one size category with a maximum of huge size. They will gain the equivalent strength of draconic strength. They will follow only the following goals: survive, kill, and eat. They are still inhibited by the physical effects of wounds, but ignore the pain from medium and light wounds and resist the pain of major wounds as they are lost in pure bestial rage. This will last for three posts in combat. An appropriate animal charmer or master of Handle Animal can prevent themselves from being target by a True Were (Cursed) unless they are the only possible target. After using this ability a True Were (Cursed) will be severely exhausted.

I am unsure what to say regarding this cPrC since it has a lot of tie in to the current True Were cPrC, and many abilities are identical.

On the surface, it looks fine....but I would really get Leyanni in here to look at it, since this is a unique situation amongst cPrC's to date - two that are mirrors to one another.

EDIT - also, apologies for the long delay in looking at this - I have overlooked it forever, and that is my fault :D

That is alright and I completely understand as it is a unique sort of thing, but I do think this sort cPRC could be good to allow people to build the equivalent of branching PRCs. Or at the very least will open up new options.

I am just glad it has a comment now. Thanks for your time.

Sorry about the lateness once more!

I'm going to ask Ozan about the similar CPrCs issue, but I personally don't see a problem and I don't think she will either given that both the true weres can't be taken on the same PC.

But now for the PrC itself.

The exchange cursed->controlled should be set to 50 gold, that's the branch change price. We should probably also add the option to the other CPrC.

-Natural Allies could do with a bit of spicing up. Give the "summons" a bit of a boost.

It also has an unfortunate grammatical issue where it infers your character can summon their animals that are their mates. As in romantically involved.

-Bestial Instincts could also be more powerful.

Bestial Frenzy -

They will be in their hybrid or fill beast form and will grow at least one size category with a minimum of huge size.

That means at a minimum they'll be as large as an elephant, and the next size category makes them as large as a small sailing ship. Probably should be "maximum" of huge size.

The amount of offensive power available for a small price(loss of friend/foe identification, in a format where most fights are 1v1) here is crazy. I'd suggest toning down the defensive boost (ignoring wounds) and we'll see how the cprc looks from there.

Alright edited the above abilities.

Changed the swap price to 50g.

-Natural allies can now gain the benefits of the level four abilities when the character activates them. I am okay with this being one abilitiy or the other if both is deemed too strong.

-Bestial instincts was hard, but I ended up with instead of giving bonus vs invisbility to it negating invisbility within 25ft. Again willing to tweek the range or if someone has an idea for a better tweek to this ability then go ahead and sugest it.

-Bestial Freanzy
I agree with you that It was a mistake on the minimum size thing and I have changed that to maximum as I think I originally intended.

I originally had not intended to ignore wounds and have clarified as they ignore the pain of wounds. I can add an additional line of say they abandond defense. It is supposed to be a savage charge and mauling of anything close to them with no regards for themselves or who or what they are attacking. If others have better ideas on phrasing thaat would be great to look at.

During Bestial Frenzy, wounds still inhibit them - they just don't feel the pain, then, yes? I'd probably nerf it a little more, and make them capable of withstanding the nuisance of moderate and lesser injuries, and more resistant to worse injuries.

That looks a lot better. My only query would remain on natural allies, though it seems fine up front. If Natural Allies is fine, we can move along and price this.
