Prerequisites Checklist:
- Who am I? Seele
- Is this character active, at least a few weeks old and unlikely to be removed in the near future? Rin will never die!
- Do I have at least 150 gold sitting on this character's account? No, but trust me. Gold isn't a concern.
Why should you accept this custom PrC concept? Over the years of writing Rin, I've slowly shifted her from adorable, clueless girl to adorable yet terrifying force of nature. She's not truly mortal, so she doesn't share a mortal's morals or restraints. I wanted a PrC that somehow managed to emphasize this aspect of her personality without being super OP. The concept I settled on was a crowd control design that couldn't differentiate between friend or foe. There is nothing subtle here; just raw strength. I will admit, this PrC will probably need some heavy balancing, but it fits Rin like a glove and I'm willing to work on it to gain approval.
Force of Nature Custom PrC: Rinrae Dromigg
Tornadoes. Earthquakes. Avalanches. Tsunamis. Firestorms. Hurricanes. Such disasters are beyond human understanding. Yet among us walk individuals with the same unbridled capacity for destruction, the same careless disregard for life. It is foolish to treat them as mere mortals. They have no concept of friend or foe, no morals, no restraints. They are simply destruction incarnate. Forces of nature.
The abilities of this cPrC are nonagical.
Prerequisites:- Skill: Expert Athletics
- Feat: Cleave
PRICING TABLE
Level One
- Feel it In Their Bones: Through some animal instinct, those nearby can sense your destructive nature. When you draw a weapon, begin casting a spell, or otherwise make your intentions to join a battle clear, everyone within a fifty-foot radius experiences a one-rank drop in their combat-related skills. There is no level below Novice. This debuff lasts for three posts.
Level Two
- No Relief: There is no comfort to be found when you approach. No one within fifty feet of your location can actively heal themselves (e.g. spells, enchantments, alchemy, abilities, etc.). This interdiction is only lifted when you heal yourself through similar means. This will deactivate No Relief for two posts. Wounds can still be treated in mundane ways (e.g. stitching or bandaging wounds, splinting broken limbs, etc.).
Alternate There is no comfort to be found when you approach. By keeping a foe within your field of vision you cancel any attempts at healing, regardless of the source. Breaking your line of sight can temporarily halt this interdiction, but as soon as they come back into view it will re-activate. No Relief can only target a single person at once, but the target can be changed once per post. Level Three
- Eye of the Storm: You are the calm center amidst chaos and destruction (even if you are its source). When this ability is activated, you cannot be harmed or influenced by area-of-effect spells and abilities, regardless of the source. This area of negation only extends far enough from your body to protect items on your person or that you are carrying, but cannot protect others. While Eye of the Storm is active, you can only use abilities from the Force of Nature PrC, skills, feats, and items; all other spells and abilities are unavailable.
Alternate You are the calm center amongst chaos and destruction. When activated, this ability makes you completely immune to magical effects regardless of their source. This includes items, spells, enchantments, and magical PrC abilities. Likewise, you are unable to use anything magical. Enchantments on your weapons will deactivate, reducing them to mundane instruments of war. This ability lasts for two posts.
- Blown Away: None can approach you. When activated, steady waves of force will push back against anyone within fifteen feet of your location. The severity of this force depends on the distance. Within fifteen feet, it will feel like a gentle pressure on the side of their body facing you. Within ten feet, this will strengthen to the point that movements towards you will feel sluggish. Within five feet, it will be difficult to move forward without some support or anchor. Those who lose their feet during Blown Away will normally be thrown backwards through the air to the outer radius of the ability. This ability can remain active for up to three posts; it cannot be used again for as long as it was active.
Level Four
- Unstoppable Force: Nothing can stand in your way. You charge forward fifty feet in a straight line, destroying all in your path. You will punch a hole in the side of any solid obstacle you encounter during this movement, dealing extreme (if localized) damage to buildings and ships and allowing you ingress. You are restricted to making basic attacks during this period (e.g. holding a weapon in front of you or out to one side). Individuals struck by this ability will be thrown bodily backwards, but will only receive light damage from the impact if they do not attempt to hold their ground. Resisting the force of Juggernaut can increase the damage dealt exponentially. This ability cannot be used in subsequent posts.
- End of Nations: Armies crumble before you. When attacking an enemy, you may choose to split the speed and force of the attack between your target and those nearby. This will appear as a phantasm-like image that strikes from the same angle at the same time before disappearing. You may spread this effect to up to ten targets at once; however, the amount of strength behind the attack is split evenly between them. Using End of Nations is mentally and physically draining.
Level Five
- Swath of Destruction: The ground shudders with every footstep you take. For three posts you receive a non-magical speed buff equal to the Blur spell (that does NOT stack with other speed buffs). For the duration of this ability, you will leave ruin in your wake. While on the ground the earth will split behind you, leaving a five-foot wide chasm. Fire will spew out of these gaps, dealing light damage to anyone that attempts crossing them. While in the sky you will leave behind a turbulent, chaotic airstream that will violently tear at anyone caught in it. This ability can be used once per battle.

Ok, balancing.
Level 1: Feel it in their Bones: This is silly powerful for a level one ability. As a latent ability, and a level one ability, I would think limiting his effect to simply the post you enter combat on for the debuff would be appropriate.
Level 2: No Relief: Either variant is too strong. I would suggest reducing the healing mitigation to just that - makes healing abilities less effective. Denying someone the ability to heal for what will basically amount to the entire fight is pretty brutal. If you want to completely nullify someones ability to regenerate or magically heal, I suggest an activated ability with a maximum duration on the affect - as a latent this is obscenely powerful. Especially for a level 2 ability
Level 3: Eye of the Storm[1]: This needs an activation limit and a maximum duration. 2 posts is fine, probably once per fight.
Eye of the Storm[2]: Needs an activation limit. I'd say this was hella OP except it doesn't negate physical attacks at all.
Level 4: Unstoppable Force: Very powerful, but workable. Needs a cap limit on uses - not being able to use in subsequent posts means someone could use this every other round, which is pretty damned brutal in and of itself.
End of Nations: Can this ability be stacked with other cPrC abilities?
Level 5: Swath of Destruction: Seems fine, though I have to admit it is a fair bit weaker than some of the lower level abilities. A Blur effect and fissure or the turbulence effects can be gained in other ways, though magically, and are not really as impressive as some of the other abilities in this cPrC. If you want to keep it, it does seem fine, to me anyway.

Changelog:- Changed Feel it in Their Bones' effect so that it isn't a skill reduction (which could target a TON of skills at once), but rather a general speed/strength debuff. Left it in level 1 because why not. It's a one-use debuff and you can't choose when it activates, so it's not super OP or anything. Also reduced to 2 post duration.
- No Relief now just halves the efficiency of active/latent healing abilities. Currently still a general, latent AoE effect. Could make it targeted, like the original alternate ability.
- Eye of the Storm can be used twice, for two posts each time. Added a line so it can’t be chained into a four-post stretch
- Unstoppable Force doesn’t do ANY damage now unless resisted. This is meant to justify its high usage limit.
- Swath of Destruction moved to level 4, otherwise unchanged.
- End of Nations was changed and bumped up to Level 5. Now it’s clone-jutsu. It doesn't have any benefits one on one, so I don't think it's too OP.

- Feel it In Their Bones: Through some animal instinct, those nearby can sense your destructive nature. When you draw a weapon, begin casting a spell, or otherwise make your intentions to join a battle clear, everyone (besides you) within a fifty-foot radius experiences a sense of primal, irrational dread. This will noticeably dull their reflexes and diminish the power of their attacks until they grow accustomed to your presence on the field. This debuff lasts for two posts and can only be used once per battle.
Level Two
- No Relief: There is no comfort to be found when you approach. The active healing abilities of everyone (besides you) within a fifty-foot radius are diminished, only mending half as much damage. Latent healing abilities will heal at half their normal rate. Wounds can still be treated in mundane ways (e.g. stitching or bandaging wounds, splinting broken bones, etc.).
Level Three
- Eye of the Storm: You are the calm center amidst chaos and destruction (even if you are its source). When this ability is activated, you cannot be harmed or influenced by area-of-effect spells and abilities, regardless of the source. While in the sky you will leave behind a turbulent, chaotic airstream that will violently tear at anyone caught in it. This ability can be used once per battle.
Level Five
- End of Nations: Armies crumble before you. You may, when pressed by overwhelming odds, temporarily overcome any numerical disadvantage. For one post you move fast enough to create after-images that attack everyone within fifteen feet simultaneously. During this period you are moving too quickly to discern between friend and foe, so no one within your reach is safe. Each after-image can attack independently of the others depending on the foe’s position and defenses in a flurry of attacks. They cannot use any active abilities or spells, but remain influenced by any passive or latent buffs in effect prior to using End of Nations. This ability can only be used once per battle and is physically fatiguing. For two posts after using it, your non-weapon combat-related skills are reduced by two levels (e.g. Athletics, Acrobatics, Defense, etc.).

- Feel it in Their Bones: I think a qualifier should be added to to the debuff. Mild, moderate, heavy, extreme - you know the drill. This ability CAN be chosen when it triggers, and I think that mild is plenty strong enough for a level one ability, especially given the other things that this PrC can do.
- No Relief is probably best as a triggered ability, otherwise (to my thinking) its going to be a grossly expensive level 2 ability. I am really ok with it either way, but leaving it a latent, passive effect will make this ability very expensive.
- Eye of the Storm: Would still really rather this kind of mitigation effect is limited to a single use. 4 rounds of area negation is basically an entire fight, so you would be making yourself immune to most peoples most powerful effects for either an entire fight or most of one.
- Having thought about this, Blown Away is a slap in the face to any melee fighters. It essentially makes you invulnerable to a melee fighter for three rounds, and whats worse, you can use this ability offensively. A two round duration is plenty, and a single use per battle is plenty, unless you want it for long drawn out fights in which case make it so you can't spend half a battle or more being invulnerable to melee attackers (and attackers with AoE abilities, too!)
- Unstoppable Force: Fine, now.
- Swath of Destruction: Fine
- End of Nations: This is fine, and much more approriate for an Apex.

Changelog:- Bones is a moderate debuff, which was clarified.
- No Relief is now triggered and effects one person at a time. Can’t choose the same person twice, and if they put some distance between you it stops working.
- Eye of the Storm is a one-time, three posts ability.
- Blown Away is no longer a sustained ability, but rather a quick pulse of sheer force. Currently a two-use limit.

This will dull their reflexes and weaken their attacks, applying a moderate debuff to their physical speed and strength. This debuff lasts for two posts and can only be used once per battle.
Level Two
- No Relief: There is no comfort to be found when you approach. When someone within your line of sight attempts to use a healing ability or item, you may choose to diminish its effects. Active healing abilities will only heal half as much damage, while latent healing abilities will only function at half their normal rate. This ability remains active so long as you are within fifty feet of the target. You can only effect one person at once with No Relief. The target can be changed freely, but the same person cannot be chosen again in the same battle after switching victims (or if they manage to escape the effective area).
Level Three
- Eye of the Storm: You are the calm center amidst chaos and destruction (even if you are its source). When this ability is activated, you cannot be harmed or influenced by area-of-effect spells and abilities, regardless of the source. This area of negation only extends far enough from your body to protect items on your person or that you are carrying, but cannot protect others. Eye of the Storm stays active for three posts and can be used once per battle.
- Blown Away: None can approach you. When activated, a pulse of raw force will emanate from your body, pushing back everyone within thirty feet of your location in one sudden wave. The severity of this force depends on the distance. Those within ten feet will be pushed back by heavy force, and it will nearly be impossible to keep their footing without an anchor. Those within twenty feet will be pushed back by a moderate force that is enough to force them back. Within thirty feet, only a light pressure will be felt, but still strong enough to change the trajectory of an incoming projectile. Those who lose their footing (or are in mid-air) when this is activated will be thrown back to the outer radius of the ability. This ability can be used twice per battle.
Level Four
- Unstoppable Force: Nothing can stand in your way. You charge forward up to fifty feet in a straight line, destroying all in your path. A very powerful cPrC, but I can get behind this now. Need one more yes and then I'll happily make prices?

Leyanni summoned me to the topic because I heard this cPrC is really powerful and wanted to take a look at it myself!
Overall Impressions
This concept definitely fits with popular Imy aesthetics! Unfortunately, it's still too powerful. I'm not quite comfortable offsetting the power of this one with a high price. The theme of this cPrC is "you're basically a demigod." I'm going to suggest several minor edits that add up to (I hope) enough change that this cPrC isn't quite so powerful while still preserving where you're going with it.
Prerequisites
I'm going to give you an offer you can't refuse offer you a choice. You can make the effects of this cPrC magical and I keep a lot of stuff intact that I might otherwise touch. Alternatively, you can leave them nonmagical and I tweak the language of the abilities to reduce the opportunity for stacking with things like RB (and re-examine the abilities in the light of them stacking with things like RB, which could result in more nerfing). I'm okay with either one, so feel free to pick whatever works best for Rin.
Level 1 Change the debuff from moderate to mild.
Level 2 I'd suggest a tweak to the mechanics a bit. For non-latent heals, the ability only works on that one bout of healing. For latent heals, the ability only works for a duration of 1 post. This turns the ability into a sort of point-and-activate thing, instead of an aura-like thing, which also helps moderate its power.
Level 3 Eye of the Storm - Please reduce the duration from 3 posts to 2. Otherwise fine.
Blown Away - Soften the language of the heavy force clause to something like "very difficult to keep their footing without an anchor." Soften the language of the thirty-foot light force clause to something like "strong enough to change the trajectory of slow-moving projectiles" (e.g. thrown objects, not arrows).
Level 4 Unstoppable Force - I'd suggest you remove the 3 times per battle limiter and just say that the ability is highly fatiguing. If you don't like that, I don't mind you keeping the usage limit.
Swath of Destruction - Please move this ability to level 5. This ability has many effects and I think it's a bit problematic. Please reduce the duration from 3 posts to 1. Please reduce the damage of the secondary effects from moderate to mild.
Current effects: Blur-level speed, 5-foot-wide chasms behind you, that spew fire (that deal moderate damage!), airstreams behind you (moderate damage too!)
There are a few ways we could tone this down. You can choose.
- No speed buff, keep the rest but turn the chasms into cracks
- Speed buff and airstreams, but turn the chasms into cracks and the cracks don't spew fire
- Speed buff and fire-spewing chasms, but no airstreams
Level 5 Looks fine, except the doubles shouldn't be able to attack with the force of any passive/latent buffs. That opens up way too many opportunities for unprecedentedly devastating stack combos.
I'd like to be the one to price this! I'll keep a close eye on this topic, bug me if I'm dragging my feet.
