| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Firaliel was stalking a group of bandits, hoping to find their hideout. She had recently helped to drive them away from a merchant caravan, and she was pretty sure the bandits thought her to be part of the escort. However, she was not, and that gave her the freedom to leave the caravan and track down the troublemakers. The bandits didn't try for another caravan but just chose to return to base, as they'd taken a decent haul from another caravan, and they weren't in any kind of shape for another fight. At least that was what they said. Of course, being bandits, they would take advantage of an opportunity if it presented itself. At the moment, though, they were just traveling through the forest, putting no particular effort into hiding because they were far enough from any roads to not be noticed, and they incorrectly assumed that they hadn't been followed. |

Bandits were unfortunately a common sight in Norwood. Even though Mistalee spent most of her time away from her homelands, she did return every so often to help get the bandit population down again. Good money could be had from bandit hunting, if she even bothered take up those jobs. Protecting her homeland was good enough payment for her. She moved through the forest with an ease than many would be jealous over. Tracking the bandits was not a difficult task, even if they were trying to remain hidden. But as she followed the trail she spotted something, well someone, she was not expecting. The elf cocked her head and did a double take to make sure her eyes were not deceiving her. Once her suspicions were confirmed she quickly caught up with the woman she had spotted. "Fira?" she said softly. She then smiled at her friend. "Was not expecting to see you here. Are you tracking these bandits too?" |

Those bandits were being easy to track, though Fira was mostly staying close enough to actually hear and see them. They were definitely getting a bit careless. No staying quiet, and not even bothering to hide the tracks. Fira suspected a combination of laziness and fatigue. Just then, Fira thought she could sense something moving. Nothing hostile, just something moving, and not anything more concrete than instinct. Whatever it was, if anything, was very good at keeping quiet. Fira heard the soft voice saying her name. She was aware that it was not the time for yelling, a point in her favor. Fira also noticed that the voice was familiar. She turned and saw that it was her friend Mistalee. Fira typically didn't show a lot of emotion, but she smiled when she saw her friend. Fira said, keeping her voice just above a whisper, "Yes, I'm tracking the bandits. To be more precise, I'm following them. They are very close to here, and they're being careless. My plan is to follow them to their hideout." Mista. Definitely a face that was nice to see out here. They'd fought side by side before, and they did well together. Now, it turned out they were both after the same bandits. |

She nodded. "They do not seem to expect anyone to be tracking them so deep in the forest," she replied. "And it seems that you and I were thinking the same thing. Shall we track them together? It would be good to have a friend to work with." She did not really wait for an answer. She knew that Fira would agree to the idea. This was not the first time they had joined forces, and she doubted that it would be the last. They were a good team after all. Fira was good with the up close and personal fighting, while Mista could take down foes from afar with her bow. And they were both Shadow Dancers. The pair continued to follow the bandits in silence, until at last she could hear the clamor of many more men. They must be nearing a camp. She signaled Fira to follow her and came around to the side of the camp where they could view the area but still remain hidden for the moment. |

Mista pretty much asked the question that was on Fira's mind, though she pretty much knew Mista's take on the issue. Fira simply nodded, letting her face say the rest. As they had before, they would work well together. Mista knew how to stay out of sight, and both knew how to fight. They seemed to be approaching the main camp, judging by the noise level in the area. Fira walked to within sight of the camp, standing behind her friend and taking a good look at the area. This camp obviously relied on simply being well off the beaten path for protection, rather than anything else. There were a few guards posted, but Fira could see that they were more interested in talking to each other than watching for anything. Sure, they would notice someone marching into the camp with a blade drawn, but they weren't paying nearly enough attention to spot either of the two hidden women. The camp was meant to be there for a while but still be movable. Most of the structures were tents, but there were a few lightweight wooden structures, mostly designed for the leaders. Everything was pretty close together with just a few major walkways, probably to make it a bit easier to defend, but Fira noticed one major weakness. Fire. Light up a few tents and some of the wooden buildings, and the place would be ablaze within minutes. Some would die to the flames, but most would be too occupied with survival to fight. It would be a killing ground if they wanted to try to eliminate the bandits here. Fira said via shadow-whisper to Mista, "What do you say to lighting this place up? These bandits did not think about fire. We can either kill as many as we can or just go after the leaders and let the forest take care of the rest." |

The elf considered Fira's idea for a moment. But she glance around the camp for a few moments before shaking her head. Setting the camp on fire would be too dangerous. She responded in a shadow-whisper. "Their camp might be prone to fire it is true," she said. "But the blaze could easily become too hot and spread too much causing a forest fire. I do not want to set my homeland ablaze." A different idea came into her head. She pulled out some black arrows with the mark of a shadow dancer etched into the shaft and showed them to Fira. "These cause a black smoke-like shadow to spread where I shoot. Shadowdancers can use it like a regular shadow and our enemies won't be able to see. We can use the darkness to our advantage and strike before they even know what is happening. It even works merely by snapping the arrow if you want to carry one with you." |

Mista saw what Fira was talking about, but she also saw the other possible consequence to lighting the camp on fire. It was very much possible that the fire could spread to the nearby forest, leading to more destruction of the woodlands than these bandits could be expected to cause. Mista made a good point on this matter. Mista then pulled out a black arrow that Fira recognized. She explained about the black smoke, and Fira listened, though she pretty much knew what was going to be said. Once Mista finished talking, Fira pulled out one of her throwing daggers, which had a similar enchantment. She said (still using shadow-whispers), "This throwing knife actually has a similar enchantment, and I have two more. There anything you want to hit first? From the way the others are reacting, I'm pretty sure the leader is in the wooden structure near the middle of the camp. Might be worth hitting that building right away. Take down the leader and the rest will scatter. You can see it; these bandits don't really like each other. I'm ready when you are. One way to do this is for you to hit that area with one of your arrows and then cover my path into the building with your bow." |
