| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

So a noble lady eh? Well, maybe adventures were the way out. While traveling we get to know more who we are, or well that was the impression he had in life. So unlike him, she did not felt it was a mistake. Well, he could not blame her... Clearly, that was not taken well. She obviously brough something of her past into that argument. He shook his head. Cameron took a woodstick on the ground, and threw it for Bruce to fetch. He took a few seconds before replying to her. ''I meant life span in general... Death is for everyone one day or another, a baby not a week old, kidnapped and forgotten by his father. Or a woman on the night she gives birth, slain my her husband's hand... There is no escaping death. I've seen it with my own eyes too....'' For a moment, he still had his woman screaming of pain as she forced herself to give life, and the moment right after the bloody silence of death on his hands. |

There was a story behind what he just said, that was for sure. But she was not about to ask an almost complete stranger to tell the tale. Just like she was not about to tell him about the murder of her family. She let out a long sigh. "I think that's enough dwelling on our grim pasts for one night," she said. "Why don't we talk about something a bit more uplifting. Have any grand tales of adventure to share, Commander? How did you start your little guild?" |

Atleast someone was trying to get away the ghosts of their pasts. It was not an easy thing to remember. It was part of their lives, and could nothing to change that. Cameron laughed slightly as she mentionned having enough of grim pasts, and then asked him about his adventures and the League's foundations. He scratched his neck a bit, thinking about it. At this moment, Bruce came back with a bigger branch. ''Bruce... what are you...? Oh nevermind.'' He took the branch as big as a wooden club and threw it again. ''Well, it started three weeks ago if i remember correctly. Was traveling, made little odd jobs as mercenary to keep a minimum gold in my purse and i landed in Kellen. There was this elven woman who got mad after two of her coworkers because they were declining the job. I asked her if she needed help. Simple job, a bunch of bandits to deal with, a son of nobility from Taras to rescue. Turned out. They were forty bandits. And two... Well, three of us. We can't forget about Bruce. He'd chew me off if i forget him again. Turned out, the elf was a were-tiger that has some mysterious powers, and no she was no mage. We took them down thanks to her power, and my tactics, looted what was in the camp. Sold it to merchants for a fifth of their selling value. Got the job money for both jobs, invested in the reconstruction of a forgetten hall house...'' |

Bruce came back with a bigger stick and she shook her head smiling. When Cameron threw it she wondered if the canine would return with something even bigger. She watched Bruce as he bounded into the fields, her eyes piercing the night as clearly as if it were day. Luckily for Cameron his animal companion was now returning with the same stick, for now. "So sounds like the whole thing just landed into your lap," she said, but not in a demeaning way. "Sometimes the best things in life just come around like that. I do hope your guild continues to grow and earns a respectable reputation." She walked in silence for a few moments before looking back at him. Without warning she skipped in front of him and began walking backwards to look into his eyes. A mischievous little smirk was on her face. "So...I am just wondering. What did everyone tell you about me?" she asked suddenly. "I would like to know so I can set any wild rumors straight. Or maybe just make you wonder more about what the trust about me actually is." |

It's true that it almost fell on him. Destiny sure made things strange. Why was he back in leadership position? Did he wanted it that badly? Was he looking for a new ''home''? Maybe, it was hard to tell. For now, he needed to get surrounded by people to hold his own against the Imperial Conclave. Not that he wished to sacrifice people, but most of them had reasons to band together. It could not be that bad. They knew the risk of the job in general. But... who could he tell that? Shirine knew of course. And she still tagged along. But Mistalee was nice too wish him and the league -I thank you. He got the branch that Bruce fetched him back, with a face meaning, you better be. He flipped the stick in his hand and threw it back as the elf asked questions about what the commander heard about her. He kept walking and smiled at her. ''In simple words: A courageous woman. An elite archer. Strong will. Good heart. The perfect mercenary idol. An icon to follow. Well, from what i heard, if half the mercenary i knew had your qualities, the world would certainly be a better place.'' |

They were all very nice things that he said. At least there was nothing about her being a noble. She did not want that information to be common knowledge. Once people found out she was of noble birth, many of them tried to treat her like a defenseless maiden and protect her. "You forgot incredibly beautiful," she said with a wink. "But anyways...you flatter me. I don't feel like I am any more important than the next person. I don't think I should be an icon or and an idol. I am merely a woman who has mastered a bow and seeks to put that skill to use protecting others. Anyone with good morals would do the same." They walked for a while long until they had complete a complete circuit of the camp. It was a quiet night, and she hope that it stayed that way. She gave him one last friendly smile. "Might want to get some sleep," she suggested. "I am heading towards the front of the camp for first watch. I will see you in the morning." |

Cameron laughed as she was not so modest about her good looks. Well, she was not so wrong after all. Nevertheless, one do not need to want to be less an exemple, it was the choice of the people around her, not her own. So whatever Mistalee would say, if she did great actions of merits in front of others, her name and reputation will grow. The respect of the people towards her, increase. Then she hinted that they should sleep. It was true, getting late and they were continuing the escort nonetheless tomorrow. ''Alright then, i'll wish you a good night rest. See ya tomorrow.'' He turned around and headed for his tent. ''Come on, Bruce. We gonna sleep boy.'' Without turning around he waved at the elf. He walked as the dog-wolf jumped around with his stick still in his mouth. In his tent, taking his light armor off, he got on his sheet and layed there. He felt a bit lonely... As the idea popped in his mind, a dog's head popped in his tent. Like reading his mind. ''Bruce, No. Out.'' The canine tilted his head on the side. ''Lonely as in, without a woman to be with...'' The mercenary got replied by an excited bark. ''Shut up! Go to bed! I don't want to hear another word from you! Good nite.'' Still, if the dog was teasing him or not, coincidence and all, to fool around. Mistalee did not seemed to be bad company. Analyzing his thoughts, the commander told himself that he was ridiculous and should go back to sleep. |

She watched him walk off with Bruce. He seemed like a nice enough fellow, and perhaps someone she would enjoy future conversations with on this trip. Another ally would never be a bad thing. Though a part of her also did not want anyone too close so they would not be harmed by her exploits as the Black Arrow. Thankfully the night was a quiet one and her shift as look out was uneventful. When it was time she woke up the fellow who was to take next watch and went to her own tent. Several hours later she awoke when light started to creep in between the folds of the canvas. She donned her leather armor and re-braided her hair before heading outside. The smell of breakfast brought her over to one of the small fires around the camp. They would need to eat quickly, it would not be long before they set out on another long day of travel. Hopefully today would be as uneventful as the first, but she kept her bow by her side at all times in case the worst happened. |

Cameron woke up, in the morning. Bed hair, and stubble obvious. Strangely, he looked tired. Simply because Cameron was a late sleeper usually. So he sat near the campfire and took his breakfast. After that, he went to put his chainmail on, and dress-up as they were about to leave. He took down the tent, packed it up in the rear of the caravan and began to help the other slowpokes and after a small while they were back on their way. Even though the sun had been their to wake them up, it became all cloudy in an hour. It was not too long after the rain fell hard, diminishing the sight for everyone. The mercenary fell tense, something was warning him. His instincts. With the boots and wheels in the mud, the traveling was slow. He placed both hands on his sheaths and kept Bruce close by. No need to send the dog away. He could fall on bandits thanks to that heavy rain, the smell was diminished. He glanced over to the elven look-out, if she could see a thing. |

When the caravan was ready to head off, the elf woman retook her perch on top of a wagon. A few of the younger, less experienced mercenaries grumbled about how the 'woman' got to ride while they walked. She ignored them, they were young and brash. Hopefully she would not need to prove her value to them through a fight. But something told her that today would not be a calm day. Emerald eyes scanned the horizon as she sat taught as a bow string. The rain did not make it an easy job, but her eyes pieced the rain and grey light easier than the humans she traveled with. She was pleased to see that a few of the other elves traveling with them were also on high alert. Then she saw something. It was subtle but there. A group of men lurked in the tall grasses ready to strike when they got close. She could not make out exact numbers, and knew there could be many more that she could not see. In a fluid motion she rose to her feet and notched an arrow. "AMBUSH!" she yelled as she released an arrow striking one of the bandits down before they could react. Everything turned chaotic the next second. The caravan suddenly halted, and the bandit burst out of hiding spots. She had managed to spot them a good 100 feet away, but that gap was quickly closed as mercenary and bandit clashed. |

Cameron could hear the young getting grumpy about having someone having it easy as the lookout. He walked to them, but it was nothing that could not be dealt with. The unease, was felt by everyone, making everyone comfortable. The younger ones did not know it was their instinct telling them to be on their guard. Instead the wanted to release of this feeling in any way, even a bit aggressively. As soon as Mistalee warned about bandits, it was not too long the commander dashed through faster then most have seen. Even for those having this speed, usually knew it meant magic. But not with this man. Cameron turned around and barked orders. ''Sheild first, brace for impacts!" A bandit came running, at him, with a claymore. He deflected the blow, with a side-step came in close, and double slashed at the man, right at shoulder and the other at the waist. The clash of the weapons came in right afters. This would get messy. |

"Stay close to the caravan," she yelled out. "Warriors in front, archers and mages in back. Time your shots carefully! Keep a look out for their own archers!" Apparently there were enough who respected her to immediately follow her orders. Swordsmen slowed down anyone daring a charge, and arrows and magic thinned the ranks as well. But they too were loosing numbers. That was when she saw mages off in the distance with several other bandits. If the mages started casting spells as their fellows charged, they would easily break through their ranks. They were well out of the range of a normal bow, but she did not possess a normal bow. She pulled out a black arrow from her quiver with a mark related to the Shadow Dancers carved into it. She took careful aim and let the arrow fly. It hit the ground in the middle of the group as a mage began casting. Black smoke quickly spread, covering them all in complete darkness. What the elf did next to some might seem like an odd behavior. She jumped off of her perch on the wagon, and instead slipped under it. If any looked under, they would find that she was simply gone. She had not done this to hide, but instead needed the shadows the under side of the wagon provided. She emerged from the shadows that her smoke creating arrow had provided. If light was able to pierce the expanding darkness, one would have been able to see the gleam of metal as she removed the sheaths on her bladed bow. As it was the bandit she suddenly struck down never even knew she was there. She was with her foes in shadow, and this was her realm. |

Cameron had to avoid the casualties the fastest he could, after dealing with his tough guy, he want to flank from behind to finish quickly as much as he could. But with his speed, he easily got the eyes of the mages, and he knew it. As soon as he was dashing towards them, somekind of arrow set a black smoke. Someone was suddenly dealing with them in there. Either from confusion, or... Someone had sneaked that far in enemy lines. How, when? He ran as fast as he could, seeing a staff at the limit of the smoke. It did not take a second before his shortsword tasted the flesh and blood of an enemy.... Though the humidity and the speed of the rain brought the smoke down faster then it should. Forms could be seen, the commander was surprised to recognize Mistalee fighting head-first with a bladed-bow. She was gracefully skilled no doubt about but soon she'd be overwhelmed, she praticly seemed to dance and spin on herself as she parried and countered as she was able to. A man seemed to have appeared out of thin air about stab her in the back. To protect her, he had no choice, he charged at the archer, his long blade pierced the chest of his foe. Though with the lunge, he had lowered himself just slightly his face was really close to her. Their lips only millimeters away from each others, for a brief moment, his hazelnut eyes looked in her emerald's, and like that, he dashed quickly back in the fight. No time to waste. |

She was surprised when Cameron showed. He apparently was trying to help watch her back. While she appreciated the effort, it was not exactly needed and he would soon be a hindrance as the area around them got even darker. Only those with the ability to see through complete darkness or fight blind would be able to continue fighting here. She grab his arm. "Hold on," was all she said before she pulled him with her into a shadow jump. She took them right to the edge of the dark cloud she had created with her arrow and pulled them out. "Unless you can see and fight in complete darkness, I would advise staying out," she said quickly. She opened her mouth to let him know that she was not angry, just that she did not want him injured in the darkness...when a few bandits stumbled out of the dark globe. A wry smile crossed her face as she shook her head with a sigh. "Well...shall we?" |

As she grabbed his arms and went back into the dark smoke, they... Shifted. They went back on the other side of the sphere made by the arrow of Mistalee. Cameron felt for a moment, lost and dizzy. He looked around and back at the elf. He wanted to know, what just happened? He did not have time to ask. They were going back in action. It was not too long before the bandits had someone again flanking their back. Though now it was not any easier, there seemed to be more then expected. If this kept up, things would turn sour... |
