We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Mistalee had been doing what she could to keep a low profile since the events at the Gala. Her actions had won her a lot of attention, and had even gain the approval of her over protective brother. While it had been positive, she was not one to want that sort of fame. She worked as a mercenary not for fame and fortune like so many others, but to protect those who needed her protection. In the recent months she had mostly done work as the Black Arrow, taking jobs here and there. Once the gossip about the Gala had died down, she started to come back to do work as Mistalee the elven ranger. This was the first bigger job she had taken since coming back out of hiding. She was just one out of many hired blades (or bows in her case) to protect a caravan going across the Debon Plains towards Norwood. Bandits were just one of the many perils of the region. Elves such as herself were desired for such trips as they were familiar with both the plains and the woodlands. The elf woman moved about the caravan as they prepared to leave. She studied some of the others hired for the job. Some she could tell were far less skilled than herself and were fairly new to the whole mercenary gig. Others were experienced warriors whom she knew would prove worth while on the trip. Her goal was to ensure that no one would die on this journey. She had seen enough death to last her several life times. Her emerald eyes finally landed on Cameron. There was something different about him than the others. He had the air of a leader about him, a quality many people lacked. She casually leaned against one of the wagons and continued watching him. |

Cameron was amongst a group of mercenaries. This was multi-contracts. Any mercenaries could apply. Yet the league has not been contacted personnaly. This could be an excellent moment to try to recruit. They were close to his headquarters after all, it would be an easy job with the douzain men. They were facing bandits, again. Why didn't they tried to do better things of their lives? Two weeks ago, Shirine and him at to deal with almost two to three douzains bandits. Ok, she did most of the job, but what a simple man compared to a gravity-weilding were-tiger? Nevertheless, he was a strategist, with a few deals here and there, created the I.M.L. Ok selling Bandits stuff did help a bit. He was looking at his new mission's partners. Some young ones at probably their first job. Others were regulars who had no cares for others. But skills abilities were all good, but if one had no spirit for the team. He had both his long and short sword each side of his waist. His hands relaxing on their hits. The commander felt observed, as he turned around he could see an elven woman, well he took a quick second, hazelnut met emerald, he smiled at her briefly before getting his eyes on the road. For such a gig of mercenaries, they had to be expecting a massive gang of bandits. This time, he hoped that there would be no imperial agent leading them. His was serious, and on the ready. He had to keep his mind on his training. He would do well as long as he focused. |

His eyes met hers for a brief moment. He was observant. That was good, it would help keep them alive. The call to get moving was sounded. The time for studying her fellows was over, now it was time to work. The elf moved with a trained grace as she went up to one of the leading wagons, and hefted herself on top of it. She stood like ground hog peering over the land, bow by her side. If there was anyone laying in wait in the tall grasses, she would see them. The day went on without any trouble, just how she liked it. She spoke little during the day, focusing more on keeping a sharp eye out for any dangers. Eventually the sun began to set and the caravan was halted for the night. With the day's work over, she slipped down off her perch and slung her bow on her back and began to mingle with the other mercenaries. It would still be some time before tents were pitched and meals were cooked. Even though she was putting on a more friendly face now than she had during the day, her eyes still darted to the horizon every so often. The night could be more dangerous than the day after all. |

A simple day, without stress really. No bandits on the horizon. Cameron walked around the caravans. As he patrolled on everyside, the commander gave a few tricks to the youngsters. There's no way he would like to have a weak point in their formation. And the tips given, would be useful to know all along their careers. The some other veterans looked at him with disdain, others did not cared much, a rare was thinking of it as a nice action. He had a little reputation after all. Since they were near Kellen, his face was recognized, and his position and faction too. Mumbles of recruiting was spread around the camp at night. He talked around in the evening, inquiring about the pretty elven archer who serves as lookout for the gig. Her name was Mystalee, she would have saved an noble in a Gala. So she was praticly a hero eh? That has potential. But how to convince a woman like that to join him? His name was nothing really, maybe expect one of reruitment. Recruiter in front of a hero. Well, it would be lucky to have one or two of the youngsters. He sat near the fire, thinking on what he could do, say, or give to have the elven archer on his league. The recruitment went well. Shirine and Iliannis were in Taras. So far, there was him and the crippled boy Darn. The boy had been sent home for now, so the place is probably empty. He felt bad, so much lacking recruit. Ah, the stress of leadership and managing all of this. |

The man she had studied earlier in the day, had keep an eye on her for quite some time. She had even over heard a few whispers about herself and him asking others about her. To her slight disappointment, it seemed like at least a few people knew who she actually was. And they were all too happy to pass that information onto the man, and most like told the tale of her 'heroics at the Gala' with much embellished detail. He clearly knew who she was now, but still had yet to approach her or speak to her himself. She sighed and grabbed two mugs of freshly made mulled wine. The warm spiced drink was always comforting as the night began to grow cold. She walked over to Cameron and handed him one of the mugs and flashed him a friendly smile. "Hi, my name is Mistalee," she said cheerfully. "But...you know that already. You know if you wanted to know something about me, you could have just asked. What shall I call you?" Her warm smile and relaxed posture showed that she was not really upset about him asking about her. That did not mean she was not going to do some light teasing though. Besides it had given her an excuse to talk to the man she had been studying throughout the day. |

As Cameron heard a female voice he did not knew, he took a peek and it was the elven archer he wanted to approach but did not knew how to. Well, luck was definitly on his side. The man smiled as she obviously overheard him asking a bit around. Well, she had elven ears, would have been surprising if she did not hear a thing, after all, everyone reacts unconsciously to hearing their own name. She had a nice personnality, well, it was a first impression nonetheless but he liked the feeling she made him. ''Perhaps i should have written' it somewhere on me. I was perhaps the second most observed thing your eyes got besides the area of the road. The name's Cameron McAllister. Well... I guess now it's Commander...'' He kept his eyes in the fire, strange. One month, after his arrival in Imythess and he was already commander of a Mercenary League like back in his home continent. The commander looked back at Mistalee and grinned. Well, perhaps this job would end up more fun to do. This elven woman had a... Little something he could not get his finger on. ''Either you drink a lot, or you brought me a mug to break the ice.'' |

She smirked as he jested about her watching him. Good to see that he was observant enough to know when he was being watched. "I thought men liked it when beautiful women watched them," she replied. "And isn't a mug of warm wine a good way to break the ice? Besides I highly doubt you would want a drunk or hungover archer behind you should anything happen. I make a point of always remaining sober." She sat down next to him and took a sip of her drink, letting the warm liquid sooth her throat. "Commander huh? What are you the commander of? Don't often get people of rank out on a trip like this," she asked, trying to learn more of the man next to her. "Though I figured you were someone of some importance. You had the air of a leader about you. That's why I have been watching you all day." |

She was replying toe to toe with him. It was nice, she was not shy but straight to the point. It was natural for her, well sure seemed like it. A good partner to chat with on a task to do. He had to watch his back after all, he was wanted. Ressources of a full country on him, though he knew very well the Empire would never send his own troops on the other side of the sea for one man when it was about to have a great wars for decades to come. ''I sure do like that, can't tell for the others though. Besides, green eyes are a rare thing to come by.'' Cameron grabbed the mug brought to him. ''Well, it'd a bit disapointing to see a hero drunk on a job. It is a professionnal way of thinking. Too many sees Mercenaries, as big, tough, grumpy, brute who uses their gold only to drink it away.'' The commander's eyes briefly stared at her movement and body as Mistalee sat down next to him. A elven shape that proved agility. Well, she was pretty also. So a pretty elven heroic Archer. As his subordinates back home would say. Jackpot. Some people were innate to do great things. He took as sip, but accidently sprayed it all over the fire. ''Importance? Not quite. I Just founded a brand new organisation called...'' He cleared his throat and deepened his voice for the Dramatic. ''The Imythess Mercenary League.'' Not that big as the name says but we got half a douzain members now. We've been founded last week. But... Thanks for the compliment... I've been leader since... What... Five years of different millitary-like faction.'' Suddenly, the was a bark. All the settlement was alerted, the commander stood up and mumbled to himself. ''Oh no..'' Suddenly a wolf-like canine jumped on him, violently. Most would have thought that Cameron was done for until he could hear him laugh. ''Ahaha! Bruce! Stop!! Ahaha! I said stop, it tickles! Aha! '' The man sat himself up looking at the dog. ''What did i tell you? To stay in the guild halls and guard the place...'' Bruce took a pitiful face. ''Oh stop it.... Well, can't blame you. There is no one over there....'' Cameron got up, got back the mug he had left on the bench before getting jumped on. ''This is my friend Bruce, first one i got since i came in Imythess a month and a half ago.'' |

She pursed her lips slightly as he called her a hero. That title had been thrown her way more than a few times, but she was not too fond of it. She did not really see herself as a hero. Any person with good morals would have done the same thing she did. Just because she was in the right place at the right time did not mean she deserved to be showered with praise. "Green eyes are not so uncommon for elves," she said, the smirk currently gone from her face. "And please don't call me a hero. I don't view myself a such. I did what needed to be done, nothing more nothing less. I don't think I am any more important than anyone else, including commanders of new formed mercenary guilds." A smile began to creep back onto her face as she finished speaking. But then it disappeared again as she heard the sharp sound of a bark. A canine creature lunged out towards Cameron. She moved in a fluid motion as she began to rise and grab her weapon. Until she heard....laughter? She raised an eyebrow as she watched what unfolded before her. Apparently this animal was a friend of Cameron's. Her laughter joined his as she shook his head. "Nice to meet you Bruce," she said as she held out a hand to the wolf-like dog. Emerald eyes glanced back over to Cameron. "A creature like this would only choose to follow someone of good merit," she said simply. "It tells much of your character." |

He understood the way she thought about no being called a hero. Cameron did not act to be a hero back in Belenos, though he wouldnt not stop people calling him such and thanked them. He was not the type to let go to his head.Though a little recognition for his hard work was not refused. ''Alright then, i'll be blunt, i like blue and green eyes. That better?'' He said teasingly. It was nice to have Bruce along, a good and loyal fellow. He patted his head. ''I just saved him from starvation back in Taras, even though i didn't have much. Loyalty of a dog, beauty of a wolf, i got the perfect of companions.'' He looked back towards the elven archer. ''Talking about companions, you always alone like this? Even though you don't have an animal to tell others about your character. You don't look like a bad girl to have around.'' A good heart, good judgement. On the road. Pretty to boot. She could not have been alone that often, could she? Surely she had friends, maybe a lover too. Who knows? Well, her, but that was a rethorical question. |

If he had not been flirting with her before, now it was clear that he was. It was fun to flirt with attractive men, but she also knew she had to be careful not to give him the wrong idea. Her thoughts went to Tand briefly. She hand flirted with him a lot, and kissed him, but she was still unsure of her feelings for the man. Or his towards her. She did not feel guilty about flirting with other men anyways, it was not like she was someone's lover. "I mostly travel alone," she answered. "I do have friends and allies I run into on occasion. We contact each other from time to time when we need aid. And we all seem to arrive at the same place at the same time when something big is about to happen. Pretty much all of my friends were at the Gala, and for that I was thankful." It was not that she did not enjoy the company of others, she just preferred doing jobs alone. She had watched enough people she love die, she did not need to add more to that list. If that placed herself into more danger, but kept her loved ones safe then it was a price worth paying. "I take it that you travel with others more often though?" she asked. "Being the leader of a guild and all." |

He was glad to hear she had people to rely on, and that were there in critical situations. That was a relief. But still, the few weeks he had in Imythess by himself made him feel pretty lonely. Cameron though further. He used to travel alone for ten long year before meeting Illianna, before getting married. Then always keep close watch on Soran while he had been with his allies, then when he founded the Council of Blades. After that, he praticly became a political figure in Hyden... Loneliness was no longuer his. ''Well, for now i've splitted my men. Half of them are at Kellen the others at Taras. But yeah, i passed twenty years traveling with others, having them at my charge. Thats why i came here, for recruiting. I'll see who has the type of spirit i'm looking for. Being by myself... Isn't for me really...'' What would have happened if Valeria, had not found Cameron and his wife? Would have still traveled? Or would have he settled somewhere as a ranger or a farmer as he raised his family. But no, he had killed his own wife on the day to give birth to their child... And buried her. Maybe he did not deserved such a peaceful type of life. His eyes were in the dancing flames of the camp fire, his spirit was in a world of his own; Nostalgia. Souvenirs and memories came to him. Most, did disappear the commander's smile. Bruce placed his head on his lap, but an instinctive hand patted him. |

She finished off her drink before setting down the empty mug. It was now completely dark. This was when the caravan could be in the most danger from would be bandits or creatures looking for an easy meal. The elf stood up and looked down at Cameron. "I am going to walk the perimeter to make sure everything is safe. Care to join me? I would enjoy the company," she said. She waited to see if he would rise to come with her, before walking towards the edge of the camp. Many people she had met for how silently she walked somewhat disturbing. She was a ranger and a shadow dancer, darkness, shadows, and silence were second nature to her. Her voice was the only thing that broke the silence. "I would say that being alone is not really for me either," she admitted. "I don't think anyone really wants to be alone. I often choose to travel alone to protect other from the dangers I face. And to ensure that I don't have to watch any more of my loved ones die." |

Cameron looked at her with neutral eyes when she asked to join him to scout the area around the camp. He grinned slightly and nodded. He followed her, and observed how people reacted to her natural silent moves. It brought another souvenir in his mind to see this startled face. Back in the day, he was nicknamed ''The Shadow.'' Even his friends lost sight of him in the middle of the day, right in the village. Cameron ''The Shadow'' McAllister, Captain of the Council of blades, Magistrate of Hyden-Bourg. Though now, he was outmatched by the most interesting people he met on regular basis. His second in command was an elven weretiger, with powers over gravity. He had an assassin he could disappear in his sight. The mercenary had also met a dark elven woman with this huge magic sword. The commander was not much compared to them, except being a Leader. Perhaps it was his only skills due to his age. Suddenly, Mistalee admitted she was not the type to stay by herself either. Though, he could understand. Cameron did flee in order the Emprire comes after me, less agents after him too. ''Have you ever thought... Maybe we flee reality? Flee happiness? I mean, with out travels we meet all kind of people, something fates wants them to be together, why not enjoy it? It's well, human nature, take no offense, to be surrounded by friends and family. I could be by myself, so i builded the league for Mercenaries...'' He looked at her in the eyes. ''Think about it, if you find someone to be happy with. Stay wit them, you might be satisfied to hear about friends and family alive. But, true happiness? You gotta take the advantage of a moment. Embrace it... You are elfe, you have the time. I don't want to flee forever, i want to be happy before i get buried... and you?'' |

She let out a small laugh at his questions. "If I am fleeing anything, it would be the mundane. There are those back home who would prefer I stay home and play the pretty lady instead of running off. But being a 'lady' is not for me," she said. It was true that being a noble had its perks from time to time, but mostly she just found it annoying. Even though elven nobility functioned differently than human nobility, the humans did not quite understand that. Most elven nobles did not see themselves as more important than other elves, they were more or less the keepers of knowledge, the leaders, or the ambassadors to other races. 'Noble' was really just the best translation they could give. That fact still did not prevent her brother wanting to keep her at home safe and sound and marry her off to someone. Her eyes met his. "Who is to say I have the time?" she asked simply. "Just because an elf might expect to live longer than most races, we are not guaranteed that life span. I learned that lesson when I was still a child." |
