Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Prerequisites Checklist:

  • Who am I? Ozan. Again.
  • Is this character active, at least a few weeks old and unlikely to be removed in the near future? This character is over 4 years old. She's like my goddamn baby or something.
  • Do I have at least 150 gold sitting on this character's account? Soon.

Why should you accept this custom PrC concept?
Imagine you are a person, just one renegade, standing up against a crime syndicate that operates on a massive scale. You need to deal with the minions and the big boss. You've got a chip on your shoulder as large as your general disregard for the law, despite belonging to a lawful organization. All that matters to you is bringing them to justice, damn the means. ...That's the frame of mind I used when designing this group combat PrC. This PrC simultaneously fills a niche and bolsters Nkiruka's rapidly ramping-up new plotline.

Loose Cannon
Custom PrC: Nkiruka Menai

Obey authority without question. Only fight the battles you know you can win. Follow every rule set in front of you. Stick to legal channels when enacting justice. Stop and think long and hard before reaching a decision; when you can, defer decision-making to someone else. These are all great ways to go through life without making a single bit of difference in the world.

The abilities of this cPrC are non-magical.

Prerequisites

  • Feat: Group Combat
  • Special: Must belong to, and not be the leader of, a hierarchical organization. This includes businesses, militaries, governments, etc.

<This is where your pricing table will go.>

Level One

  • Results-Oriented: The more efficiently you accomplish a task that has a legal basis, the more likely you will escape punishment for any illegal methods you used to achieve that success. Forgivable offenses could include property damage, excessive use of violence, breaking and entering, theft, and similar crimes. Indeed, you're so hellbent on accomplishing your task that you can violently force your way through physical obstacles much more easily when you are pursuing an objective with a legal basis. For example, being locked in a chase with a criminal would allow you to charge straight through a wooden wall without taking damage and, if you're successful, avoid fines for property damage afterward.

Level Two

  • Break Ranks: The order to "hold your ground" is more like a gentle recommendation in your eyes. Whenever you're in a good position to initiate a surprise attack, or if you've been beaten back, you can Break Ranks. You surge headlong into your enemies, delivering a physical attack that deals major damage to a single target and unleashes a ten-foot cone of force in front of you. Every enemy hit by the force is slowed for 1 post.

Level Three

  • Unauthorized Detainment: You produce a pair of manacles and seamlessly restrain your enemy's movements in the middle of close combat. This could involve cuffing an enemy's limb to an object on their person; cuffing an enemy to a suitable object in the environment; or cuffing two of your enemy's limbs together (may or may not belong to the same enemy). This severe reduction in freedom of movement lasts for one full round of posts before enemies can find a way to slip out of the manacles. Enemies with the Escape Artist feat are detained very briefly. Only one pair of manacles can be active at a time.

  • Stuck In: Some people panic when enemies are pressing in on them from all directions. Instead, you see it as a great opportunity. When you're in the midst of a dense group of enemies, all of your normal, unmodified physical attacks will become forked. This means that for every successful physical attack you inflict on an enemy, you will inflict an identical attack on up to 3 people directly adjacent to that enemy. Forked attacks are half as damaging as your initial attack and can be blocked. Your attacks will not fork if they are modified by magical enhancements or are PrC abilities.

Level Four

  • Disruption Agent: Your very presence invites chaos to the battlefield. When this ability is activated, all enemies within 200 feet of you become confused for 3 combat posts. This could manifest in a variety of ways. Victims might overestimate the number of enemies they face, make false assumptions about your capabilities, be misinformed about your location or goals, overestimate how powerful you are, or any combination of similar concepts. This results in widespread panic and disharmony among your enemies that makes forming plans or working as a group difficult. Player Characters affected by Disruption Agent are more capable of using logic to overcome the misinformation and feelings of confusion, but will find it difficult to persuade their NPC allies/minions to snap out of it. This ability is a mind-affecting effect.

Level Five

  • Exception to the Rule: Choose an area-of-effect event currently occurring on the battlefield. Then choose 1 of the following:

    • The area-of-effect ability affects you normally, but does not affect anyone else.
    • The area-of-effect ability affects everyone normally, except you.

This ability cannot be used more than once per fight.

  • Mass Apprehension: You produce a pair of gadgets, one held in each hand. Chains (up to 3 from each gadget) burst forth at high speed, mildly homing toward nearby enemies up to 30 feet away. The further away an enemy is, the more likely they will see the chain fast approaching and be able to dodge it successfully. The instant any part of a chain makes contact with an enemy or anything an enemy is holding, it will automatically wrap tightly around. At any time you may cause all the chains to tighten simultaneously, potentially pulling enemies off their feet (if wrapped around a leg), disarming them (if wrapped around a weapon), or jerking them around (if wrapped around an arm or upper body). If you wish, you may anchor your gadgets to the ground or other solid surface in order to hold your enemies in place and free your hands. Unless the enemy possesses the Escape Artist feat, it takes at least one post of concentrated, uninterrupted effort to escape from the chains. This ability may only be used once per fight.

This has the feel of a Policeman +1 PrC lol Pre-reqs look good.

Level 1: Results Oriented: Looks fine. The charging through walls effect only applies to weak structures yeah? No running through a brick wall or any of those schenanagans?

Level 2: Break Ranks: Looks fine. Needs a limiter on uses per fight, though.

Level 3: Unauthorized Detainment: Looks fine. I am assuming very briefly for Escape Artists is som, ething like...you slap them on, they laugh in your face, and then punch you in your face with the hands that were just cuffed a second ago?

Stuck In: Seems fine, especially with the exclusion of PrC abilities. Would probably slap an activation limit on this, couple times per combat sounds about right.

Level 4: Disruption Agent: Looks fine, also needs a cap limit - once per fight sounds good.

Level 5: Exception to the Rule: I am assuming this involves area of effect spells, enchantments, and PrC abilities? I am uncertain about the exact effects, but the way it reads is pretty potent stuff. I cannot see any way it can be used OP at the moment, but maybe someone else will see something my half addled brained is missing :D As it is, it looks fine.

Mass Apprehension: Looks fine. Chains can't disarm anyone who has abilities that prevent disarming, but they will know that.

Other than a few activation/usage modifiers that Aey pointed out.....I really don't have any complaints. It progresses in power nicely, it has a popo theme that is certainly unique, I can't even hiss at any abilities- it's tight, yo.

If I had to be exceedingly critical, I would say that Results Oriented is a bit weak, even for a lvl 1 ability. Simply 'cause avoiding civil lawsuits seems like it would be kinda a plot thing rather than an ability thing. But ultimately, this ability can stand as is if it's what you want.

O_O

Changelog:
- Clarified/strengthened Results-Oriented to make you capable of charging through brick and stone walls, though you will take damage.
- Added a fatigue limiter to Break Ranks. It's already limited because it has a conditional (can only be activated when you're launching a surprise attack or have been beaten back).
- I decided not to add any limiters to Stuck In because it already has heavy conditionals. Let me know if you're adamant and I'll add a fatigue drain, but it's really not that powerful of an ability as it is. No changes to this one.
- Disruption Agent has a one use per combat limiter now, as intended.

If you guys think this or any level of this is ready to ship, could you please suggest prices?

Stuck in is fine as is, I have to agree. The conditions are very heavy and it is most effective against pet hordes(something that we shouldn't think twice about letting counters through) and NPCs.

Otherwise I think this looks fine. It isn't a super-powerful cprc.

Pricing -

50 gold
75 gold
150 gold
100 gold
150 gold

The pricing is apt, because this cprc isn't that powerful.
