Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Maurice Delvin, along with his pet chimera pup, Ferdimond, the lion part, and Coggsworth, the snake part, De Mayne, a fancy name for a cute predatory pup, were walking through Norwood. To be more accurate, Ferdi and Coggs were in his haversack, looking out over his shoulders, while Maurice ran full speed through the forest, side stepping trees, roots, and bushes at the last possible second. He was training his reaction time, he knew it would take an insane amount of energy and concentration to pull off high speed dodging, so the best he could do right at this moment... was effectively playing chicken with a tree and dodging at the last second.

He was at a good pace, his dodging skills were mostly side stepping and spinning to the side, he even managed to jump a few roots. But that all changed when he heard something to the east, he turned his head, and in that second of breaking his concentration, he rammed straight into a tree. Maurice crashed into the tree trunk and groaned, slowly taking a step back to steady himself. He couldn't fall, he would crush Ferdi and Coggs the haversack tied to his back. Maurice sighed and looked to the east, knowing full well as a Knight of the Wind, he didn't have to go after it, as long as the north-bound wind kept on blowing. He was about to take a step north, when a powerful gust of wind struck out towards the east.

Maurice sighed and turned to the east, marching off as if he was a kid, marching towards his room with the wind playing the part of his mother, pointing at the mess he had to clean up. Maurice sighed and kept up a brisk march, his hand loosening the longsword on his hip, he was ready for a fight if need be, but perhaps he could solve this problem with diplomacy, eh, probably not, it was faster to kill a bandit than to talk one down. And if there was one thing Maurice truly enjoyed, it was speed.

Despite herself, she began to find that she rather enjoyed the ride. It was a sight better than taking an airship back to Taras, and if it happened to be a few days longer by ground than by air, so be it. She didn't have any pressing concerns back home now, in any case. Any potential contracts could wait.

Sunlight dappled the partly overgrown road she traveled, astride a horse that belong to the most recent client - who was grateful for the services and the promptness of completion. She would return it as soon as she reached Taras. For now, she rode in the woodlands, lush with green leaves and shoots that overlayed the brown skeleton of branch and trunk, screening the wildlife that remained present with the human encroaching on their domain. The air smelled fresh - the earthy scent of mouldering leaves and fresher scent of living things growing in the bright sunshine, of hidden brooks and pools shrouded from the eye by natures bounty. A beautiful day.

But, such was it that it would be shattered by the noise of shouting and howls of rage and pain.

The sound came from ahead, slightly off the path. She booted the gelding she sat to a canter, hair bouncing on her back and the rump of the animal in its tight cords, breasts following the same motions, sword clinking on her back. She didn't exactly know what to expect, and was not surprised to discover a carriage run off the road and through the undergrowth, stuck in one of those hidden brooks. The traces had been cut and the animals were not in evidence, and one man sat the ground with a cloth pressed to a messy, bloody wound in his arm. More blood leaked from a puncture in his shoulder, and that was a wound that would need treatment.

Her eyes did not dither on the apparent servant, probably the driver of the carriage. It was the woman she zero'd in on, wearing some flippant dress designed for court or sitting around in a manner in, not for work or wandering the words. She had a frosty dignity that barely concealed the rage she obviously felt, and as the Captain came into view her head snapped in her direction. The display of emotions was comical to say the least - alarm, fear, chagrin, embarrassment, and finally anger as she decided that the horsewoman was not another threat but perhaps one of the patrols that went through the woods on permanent (and permanently ineffectual) bandit duty.

"See, here! You! I've just been robbed! They've taken my purse, my baubles, and my horses! You are with the law? Do something!"
