Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Flavor or Effect?

Hello! I am trying to figure out which of these things is just flavor, aka: little details that make a character unique, or may be an effect, aka: something I need to get from the shops. I plan for both her Race and Class to 'level' as she goes, because she is slowly replacing her elven "framework" with her own form/race. Though in the Pathfinder campaign I made her for she had already done that part (we were starting at level 5).

  • Race Characteristics

    • 1st, Plants grow in your wake. (Downside: easily tracked) FLAVOR
    • 2ed, Contact with any wood causes it to grow roots and shoots, slowly. (Downside: extended contact can cause property damage as chairs, tables, doors, etc. start to bud and take root.)Floramancer: Level 3 Flavor
    • 3rd, Non-scentiant plants returned to life with a touch, though trees take longer then flowers. (was thinking of having it be a heal spell effect as she is a plant)Floramancer: Level 3 Flavor
    • 4th, Scentiant plants healed (like spell) with a touch. Heal spell.
    • 5th, If nearly dead (loose consciousness) on natural surface (rock, soil, etc.), automatically fall into a healing sleep and start to recover. Artificial surfaces (like metal) are harder to break down and the sleep acts more like a coma. (Variation of the Feat: Endurance?)
    • 6th, Regeneration while resting on a natural surface (twice as fast as normal recovery) but it is halved on unnatural surfaces. (Variation of the Feat: Fast Recovery?)
    • 7th, 6 hrs. of sunlight is a full day's food & 1 hour rooted is a full day's water. (Downsides: look 'greenish' while in sun and skin wrinkles and creases, drying out like bark, if dehydrated.) Flavor (and Floramancer: Level 2)
    • 8th, Natural Knowledge of Nature, what plants are used for what, what animals act like, etc. Free skill (not in shops)
    • 9th, Plant immunities:

      • Sleep effects: Plant's don't sleep.
      • Poisons & Stunning/Criticals (aka: targeting damage to weak points): Sap-like blood and lack of internal organs.
      • Paralysis & (baleful)Polymorph: In a different family tree, a Plant, not an Animal.
      • Mind Control and Mental effects: the no internal organs thing, also because plants 'think' differently.

    • 10th, Wild Born: Natural creatures (animal or plant) will not willing harm me, nor I them.

  • "Class" : Druid (Plant variation)

    • 11th, Healing: starting heal spell.
    • 12th, Entangling Vines: Entangle spell gifted by Teo!
    • 13th, Wooden Fist: spell that works like a spiked gauntlet or punch dagger. I'm using the Claw starting weapon for it right now. Spells: Claws of the Savage & Fleash-ripper.
    • 14th, Bramble Armor - spell that grows thorns from skin. A spell maybe? Sprout spell.
    • 15th, Plant-like "Animal" companion? Rose Ivyn
    • 16th, Summons for plant-like creatures, Trent? I could I say it is a plant-like variation of something? [Like the wolf linked here?]
    • 17th, Wild Shape: Plant (ability to change into other plant-like creatures like treats, assassin vines, and shambling mounds). I'm thinking the different spells will do this fine.
    • 18th, Point Blank Shot: the Feat (need to get ranged weapons first) Have now.
    • 19th, Green Empathy: Speak with plants and animals?
    • 20th, Path of Trees: Teleport by stepping into one tree and stepping out another of the same species.
    • 21st, A Thousand Faces: Look like anyone. Alter self spell?
    • 22ed, A Thousand Voices: Speak & read any language.
    • 23rd, Craft Weapons and Armor (Profession): "Grows" over time organic based weapons and armor. Can grow "Ironwood" (strong as iron) and can grow 'attachments' for items like spear or axe heads. I was thinking also mundane items like bowls and spoons.
    • 24th, Leaf Armor: The same as masterwork studded leather but contains no metal. (I want her to basically "grow" it, eventually) Sprouted Armor (plant-like variation on Armor Pellet)

I know it's a lot, which is why I am asking for help from more active people. I'm also hoping the numbers help people if there is only a few ideas. I am sure some of it I can skip as something I have to buy. I also think some of it may be in the Floramancer prestige class.

Most of these abilities will need to be purchased in the shops. In general, I can point you at the Floramancer PrC and the Custom Prestige Class system. Additionally, a lot of the items you want can be created through Item Modification. I know this is a lot of information, but people around here will help explain everything for you.

Also, here's some feedback on a few of the abilities:

Your #1 and #7 abilities might be doable as flavor abilities (I'd have to check with the rest of staff on this), but would be better as custom abilities.
#8 is a skill that is not in the shops and therefore can be freely given to your character without restriction
#13 might be more easily done as a weapon. A weapon like that would be a straightforward fusion of hand/arm armor and a small handheld weapon (like claws, punch daggers, or metal knuckles).
#24: look at either the wooden planks material or a substitution if you don't want heavy armor

#13: If you end up going for Floramancer, the fifth level allows you to create weapons out of wood from your flower. The first one's a free pick, and you can make additional weapon types if you have the corresponding weapon skill at Adept or higher. They're as good as normal weapons, and you can create them on the spot in a few seconds ^^

Ok, I've updated the list with things I have been able to find in the shops (they are grayed out).

Are 5 & 6 appropriate as feats with just some flavor stuff added?
Is 10 ok as flavor text? Wild animals wouldn't include player's pets as far as not attacking her, but she would still be inclined to not harm them. It's almost more of a moral code I think.
With 16, can I get summons and just have them be plant-like variations?

Someone mentioned a bunch of shape altering spells. Where are they in the shops?
