| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Is there any way besides Psychosis to make a weapon in this game talk? Throughout years of storytelling, there have been weapons that pop up from time to time that actually have the ability to think and speak, usually leading them to insult somebody because they have nothing better to do. I want to know if there's any way whatsoever to do this. |

Pretty sure you can just do it as long as the weapon's "usefulness" is more like a friend/mentor than an additional watchful eye. Bethari(Ari), has long used an intelligent, cursed blade known as Agorst the Bastard. |

"Friend" would be stretching what I'm thinking about doing. I was thinking about having a soul stuck in a weapon permanently chained to an idiot. Wherein any thinking skills purchased [Such as Knowledge: Arcana, or Concentration] are utilized by the spirit in the weapon, rather than the carrier. And since the weapon doesn't care for its new owner, often withholds information. And purchased magic cast is often messed up because the sword is trying to tell his magicless carrier what to do in order to use the magic that the sword knows, and the spells either fizzle or backfire because the wielder messed it up somehow. Y'know: A sort of symbiotic/parasitic relationship between the two. More or less making a weapon into a character without the ability to manifest a body for itself. I hope I explained that like how I'm thinking it. EDIT: What I definitely meant by the first post was having the weapon get the wielder into trouble by insulting random people out loud. Yeah, the weapon can bark random insults and such. Not so sure on the magic thing, while it looks okay I'm not going to just...say it is without another staff member's agreement. |

well, it would require the Spellblade PrC. To cast the spells, that is.

I had an idea to accomplish this......What if you fused a sword with a Voodoo Mambo tattoo? "...depending on the soul, can be a help or hindrance. [so, it could be any type of personality you want] The souls themselves can only be perceived by the bearer, or anyone the bearer wishes to be able to perceive them. [so, it would be up to you if others could hear your 'friend']" And it would literally be a soul in there, up to 3 of 'em. It wouldn't cover the magic part, but you mentioned Spellblade so there's that. Just an idea

My new biggest question is: Would I have to get something like Slave Soldier's Armaments, a Weapon Tether, or could I just say that the weapon is permanently chained to the character? |

You'd definitely need a Slave Soldier's Armaments to do permanent chaining. Weapon Tether is "reliable" chaining. |

I don't see how Spellblade would be required; Ogi said the sword would be trying to tell the wielder how to cast/use the spell, not that he'd be waving it like a wand. And even if he did, I still don't see how Spellblade would be required, unless he wanted the buffs and skills and whatnot from the prc for this particular "partnership". Hope that didn't sound like I was trying to argue, that's just my two cents. |

Kinda what I meant, and besides, Spellblade is needed because of the following line
EDIT: Think I figured out ways to really make it work, with a little inspiration from Taiaka, at that! Infusion of the Protector could be said to charge the sword's magic, right? Then the blade's talking and insulting of others could be through a reasonably modified Voodoo Mambo tattoo, by saying it only has one soul in it, that of the sword!
