Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Clarification regarding spell strength and enhancements to it.

I have had a lot of trouble with and over this particular subject, and I am not enjoying always being in the dark, walking the line as it were.

You have basic spell strength, which I read to mean exactly what the spell description says, though sometimes the descriptions have been misleading or unbelievably vague (which I realize you guys are working on correcting).

My question is more or less aimed at the abilities and feats that read 'increases spell strength'

Storm Kindlers' 'Storm Blessed' enhances thed strength of Wind and Aire shop spells; Inner Fire enhances the strength of Fire shop spells. Some items increase the strength of spells, all or just a given element or two. Empower Spell enhances the strength and increases it slightly.

Now, clearly, things like EMpower Spell are things that must be consciously used....I am under the impression that these traits are always active, or active always in certain circumstances.

I am damned if I know what 'increases the strength of 'insert element' spells here is defined as, to what degree, etc.

I think the core rule here is "be reasonable". We'd like people to treat them as edges and not overwhelming enhancements.

Increased strength does not add: Radius or force, such as blastwaves of any sort. It just adds damage according to the spell's type.

Sp essentially its really fluff, and really plays no part at all in the strength of a spell - only its effect on targets it actually comes in contact with? Wouldn't make a fire burn hotter or a fireballs' explosion more violent, just more effective at dealing damage to a player?

To be blunt, what your spell says it does is law. The enhancements boost the damage as written. If a spell just deals fire damage, it deals additional fire damage - by heat, obviously, but that heat cannot also be so overwhelming it produces a blastwave that does damage on it's own. Fireball does fire damage, not force damage.

Being reasonable is key, and as I said, these enhancements should be seen as adding an edge over other casters and not as adding ultra-damage, or else every spell would have mild damage to compensate for the enhancements.

Yeah, fireball is the most recent problem - but fireball also states it does explode, and may carry shrapnel if it burst something - which suggests a concussive force of some kind. I am sure when you get to Fire shop that will be clarified and made more clear.

The next question is whether all of these effects stack (Since Archmage effect is always active and, in theory, so is Inner Fire or Storm Blessed, they should but....)

I've always figured that everything stacks, but I don't think there's anything official on the topic. It does create some ridiculous synergy, though, like Storm-Blessed + Archmage (wind) + Empower Spell + Staff of Air = really powerful wind magic spell. Regardless, I'm going to say that you can go with everything stacking unless you find out otherwise. Just don't abuse it too much. ;)
