| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Arthur opened the door and the smell of ale and wine filled the air. Arthur breathed in deeply and sighed in contentment. This was one of the best taverns in Norwood. It had good drinks and good times. Just what Arthur liked in a tavern. Music filled the air as the bards and performers played out a jaunty little tune you could dance to. Arthur walked around trying to find a table not to far from the excitement as he guessed his friend who would be joining him wanted to see it. Finally Arthur found a good place to sit and sat down. He faced the door in case he had to get out in a hurry. Even in these places things could get rough if you weren't careful. Arthur had been in his share of bar room balls and he didn't want there to be one. Especially if a friend was gona be here. A busty waitress came by and said," What do ya want honey"? Arthur looked at the girl and said," Strongest stuff ya got and get something for yourself". He tossed her some coins and she went off bowing to him. Arthur smiled and then turned his attention to the stage and he listened to the music. Soon he found himself humming along with the music and tapping his foot to the boot. This was better than where he had been previously. Dryer to he hoped his friend would like it. As he saw the door began to open he wondered if this was his friend. |

Olivia looked around, the cold no longer bothered her, actually, she felt quite warm now. She opened the door to a tavern and peeked around, searching for someone, her eyes landed on him, she smiled and nearly flew across the room to get to him. She looked around again, the place smelt of something strong, but she didn't know what it was, probably alcohol. "Wow. I've never been to a place like this before." She sat and smiled at him, Olivia felt hot, like she was sweating, but she wasn't. She was confused, but didn't wanna say anything. "So, what should I get..." She smiled as she shifted around uncomfortably in her seat. |

Arthur saw his friend enter the tavern. She looked out of place when compared with the res of the crowd. But they were used to strangers coming in. At least no one tried to stop her as she came to Arthur. The girl spoke saying she had never been to a place like this. What a life to have never been to a tavern. It didn't bother Arthur it just amazed him. He would have to show the girl what it was like. He would relish the experience. Arthur said," You can get whatever you want. Ale, Beer, Mead, Whiskey, Wine, anything. Just make sure you can handle whatever you order. I don't want to carry you home drunk". Arthur chuckled at that. He would if he ad to but he doubted the girl had anything stronger than a glass of milk. The barmaid brought him his drink. And Arthur took a drink and shook his head from the bite. The stuff was strong alright but not the strongest he ever had. |

Olivia pondered on his words, what ever she wanted, she thought. She didn't know what to get, she didn't know what she could hold and what she couldn't. But either way it didn't matter, no matter what she got, she would end up tipsy or drunk at some point. Olivia looked up at the barmaid and smiled, "I would like some wine," she said, looking over at Arthur to get the approval of her choice, once given, she continued "Please." She said politely. After the girl left, Olivia looked around, "Wow, this place is so....I don't even know how to explain it." She smiled then felt a rush of cold fill her, she shivered and looked confused. |

Arthur took another swallow of his drink letting the strong drink go down his throat. He shook his head from the bite and looked to Olivia again. He wondered what she would order since she had never been in a tavern before. If it was to strong she would get drunk to quickly to weak she might not get to enjoy it. That was the way it was in a tavern you never knew what you would get when you ordered it. The girl then ordered some wine a safe choice that. Wine was a good choice for a beginner in drinking it was safe enough not to get you drunk to quickly unless you were dumb enough to gulp it down all at once. The girl then spoke saying she did not know how to explain a place like this. Arthur could the word was fun but he didn't say that. Each person had their own ideas about these places so it was better to form your own. He noticed the girl shivered and he wondered if she was still cold from the rain. Well a nice drink would warm her up real quickly. Arthur knew that from experience. Arthur said," Its amazing isn't it. You get all sorts of people in these taverns. its fun to watch them sometimes. See what they drink, what they talk about. The music , the women, its a very interesting thing. You see something new every time you come". |

Olivia looked around again, she looked at everyone, some even looked back and smiled, she smiled back. Some were scary to her, but she felt comfortable anyways. The waitress came back with the wine, Olivia stared at it and thanked the woman, glancing up only to see her chest in her face, Olivia's eyes widened then she looked down at her own, feeling small. She kinda felt embarrassed, her face turned a light shade of pink. After the waitress walked away, Olivia picked up the glass and stared into it, it slowly shifted to a foggy ice layered color and her smile disappeared as it shattered in her hand. She jumped up and backed away, "What was that?" She asked confused and freaked out. Heads turned as she shot from her seat and raised her voice, the ice melted away from the broken glass pieces leaving water spots to mix with the wine that was spilt. |

The girl got her drink in not time at all. Arthur still had his and was drinking reguraly from it. He felt a slight buzz in his head from the drink. It felt good to have a drinking buzz. Arthur knew that from experience. Just had to make sure that buzz didn't go to a full hum. Then you were drunk. Arthur didn't like to be drunk and he was glad it took awhile for him to get drunk. Arthur looked at the girl picking up her drink wondering what her first taste would be like. Arthur knew first tastes were different for each person and couldn't wait to see his friends. Then he noticed her drink beginning to change forming ice on its top then it shattered itnto bits. The girl stood up startled and Arthur looked around for whom the magic might have come from. Whoever it was had played their last joke on an innocent girl. He looked to the girl and said," Magic, probably some magicians idea of a practical joke. Whoever did it is going to get a good thumping from me". Arthur looked around to see anybody who might be laughing but saw noone. All eyes were turned to the girl and he wondered if she had unknowingly done it herself. Arthur would have to wait and see. |

Olivia's eyes glued on Arthur's, pleading for him to do something, anything. She looked around to see everyone staring at her, she looked down at herself, none of the wine had gotten on her and she silently sighed with relief. Olivia looked back at Arthur, "I'm sorry to cut this short, but can we leave...?" She no longer felt comfortable now that everyone had noticed her, she held a hand out to him and the fear from earlier flashed through her eyes once more. Her hand slightly shook as she held it out. What had happened? She went in feeling hot and she wanted to cool done, soon after, she felt cold and her glass shattered...from ice. Could someone read her thoughts and played a joke on her? She never thought once that it might have been her, she had no history of magic running through her veins. Something was going on, and she was freaking out inside while keeping a straight face. |

Arthur noted the girls uneasiness something had happened and it scared her. Whatever it was Arthur had to find a way to deal with it. At least he hoped he could deal with it. He looked to the crowd to see them staring at his friend and his eyes narrowed in dislike. There was nothing to see she just got scared. She was not something to make fun of or look at. He was about to say something when the girl spoke. She wanted to leave and she held her hand out to him and he noticed it was shaking. Arthur wondered why it scared her so bad. It wasn't as if she had been attacked. Still she was right they had caused to much attention so with one last gulp he drank his drink. Sat out some coins on the table and took the girls hand. Her hands were as cold as ice and Arthur looked at the girl in confusion. It was warm in here why was she so cold. . He had his guesses and most involved magic. Arthur took the lead going out the tavern door as it swung behind them. Making sure no one was about he asked," Alright what's going on lass. Somethings up and I aim to get to the bottom of it". |

Arthur led them out, everyone continued to watch. She watched Arthur as they exited, "Alright, what's going on lass. Something's up and I aim to get to the bottom of it." he said to her. She wondered if he was blaming her for it, she ripped her hand from his and looked up at him as if he just smacked her, "If I knew I wouldn't have asked for us to leave! I know just about as much as you do!" She said, almost having a panic attack. Olivia's hands started feeling numb and she clenched them in to fists and unclenched them to get feeling into them again. She was afraid that he might be mad with her if he thought that she had done it and was lying just to mess with him, but she was telling the truth. She was just as confused as everyone else in the room. What happened? The question kept playing in her head. Hadn't it been cold out here a moment ago? Olivia asked herself, the only thing that she could feel was her numbing hands. |

The girl spoke in a panicky voice which added somewhat to his suspicion. But upon seeing her eyes wide with fear he began to question that. If she was lying she was a good actor if she was telling the truth what did that mean. Arthur did not know but he decided he would trust her enough to think she was telling the truth. Arthur said," Easy lass, Im not blaming you. It just surprised me is all. Magic is not something you take lightly. I just want to figure out what happened". Not for the first time Arthur wished he could sense magic. But that was not something he had ever trained for and often dismissed preferring to rely on instinct. THis time though it would have been a nice thing to have. Arthur did not feel the cold that the girl felt his inner fire from Infernos kept him warm at all times. He however did notice other people shivering and their breath fogging. His brow raised in questioning cause from what he kenw tonight was a warm spring night. Whatever magic this was, was effecting the outside to. This was no random prank. THis was something else and it all hanged on his friend. Arthur said," Lass, I think whatever this is has something to do with you. Not saying your the one causing it but someone is doing this because of you. Not suure why but that's just my guess". |

Olivia stared up at him for a moment then looked around and found a bench. She went and sat down, her hands touched it and it froze over. Olivia jumped up and scattered back, she looked down at her own hands, "I...i did that...?" she said as the palms of her hands had snowflake marks, they slowly disappeared as a smile slowly creeped over her lips. Olivia had always wanted to be like the wizards, she also had a love for snow. She wondered what she could do other than freeze things, but for now, she had to talk to Arthur. "Did you see that? That was cool!" she returned to her normal cheery self. "What else can I do? Can I make it snow? Can I shoot ice? Does everything always freeze when I touch it, or can I control it?" Olivia smiled brightly at Arthur, then backed down and stopped smiling, remembering what he said about magic. |

Arthur watched the girl go to the bench and try to sit down. The moment her hands hit the wood thought the bench immediately froze. Arthur rubbed is eyes thinking he had been seeing things but he had not. The girl seemed surprised as well. So she had been the one behind all the commotion she just hadn't known it. This was a strange way for someones magical abilities to come into play. Arthur said," It seems you were the one who froze your drink then. Odd I have never seen magic come up in a person this way before." Then again Arthur knew little about magic. Except for the spells and abilities he had pick up in his travels that was. The girl then began to wonder what she could do. Arthur knew however she was not ready for what she thought she could. With magic you had to take things slow and easy. As it was a volatile thing and could easily get you killed. Arthur said," Easy lass, don't try to much at once, you could seriously hurt yourself. I know. As for what you can do I know little about ice magic. Your own abilities have to be tested and carefully. Best way would be to study some books on this kind of magic. The best place for that is the Taras Library". At leas that was what he thought. Arthur did not know any magicians to train her so that was the best bet. It would take awhile but if she stuck to it she would be able to use those abilities well. |

Olivia smiled at his acceptance of her newly found magic. He told her that she would need to calm down and take it easy, probably even needed to study upon how to use her magic. "I just need practice. Maybe when I go home I can find one of my wizard friends to help me. For now I just need to learn how to control it so I don't have glass shattering in my face again. That was quite frightening."Olivia said, smiling to herself, she kinda wanted to teach herself how it use it. "I don't want to read boring books. Maybe I can teach myself." Olivia admitted as she reached out and touched the leaves of a bush, it didn't freeze, she looked disappointed. Maybe someone had actually played a trick on her and it wore off. She was quite upset with that thought. |

Arthur nodded at what the girl said. Practice was good especially when magic was just coming up. Still he hoped the girl would be careful. Magic was not something someone should treat lightly. He had seen magic destroy men and women alike who had thought they had control over it. He did not want that to happen to her. He said," Well I cant help you there. I know very little of magic. Bit what I can tell you is that magic is a tool like any other . Use it wisely and it will do great things. Dont it and it will destroy you." The girl then said said she might teach herself. That was a route to go a route Arthur he himself took. It was not a route he would recommend but it was her choice. Arthur said," You'd be surprised what you could learn from books. I learned a few of my magical tricks from them". It was true if he had not read he would not have found some of the abilities he had. |
