Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

With the new description for Control Water, O, the Hue Manatee, my prize for winning the Taras Trials summoning competition, can't actually function outside a large body of water, wsine the new range/volume won't even surround its bulk.

What do?

Also the proposed volume is kinda bumpkus since there's a portion of that area occupied by the body of the caster and it severely limits the range that can be reached to control water. /rant

I'll have to see the description of this custom creature, but it's probably reasonable that an adequate quantity of water gets summoned along with the pet and can be controlled enough that the creature can be used away from a natural water source (of course, this water will not be usable as a weapon). If we can't get this creature to work out, the next option would be to allow you to create something different.

Here is the description.

O the Hue Manatee

Hue Manatee Summoning Scroll: The winning summons during the 2013 Taras Summoning Trials. A rare denizen of the warmer shoals of the Moonsea, the hue manatee is a wide finned mammal whose skin is a multicolored, ever shifting showcase of colors. It uses Echolocation to see during deep sea dives, can form Minor Illusions upon its skin to ward off predators as well as influence the Emotions of those around it. Unfortunately, the iridescent properties of its hide can last after its death, so these creatures were almost hunted to extinction, the last few protected in special, sea druid guarded reserves.

The Hue Manatee can control the water around it, much like the spell Control Water. If summoned outside of a large water source, it can conjure a great sphere of water around it as though it knew Flood. It will stay with its summoner for five posts before returning to its natural home, and cannot be summoned for another four posts.

Honestly, I would be okay with a unique prize having the old version of Control Waters. *shrug* The summon has a limited duration, has to stay in water, and honestly sounds pretty peaceful and placid. It's a large volume, but I got the impression it's mainly using it to make and maintain its bubble over land. Plus I would hate for a change in the shops to destroy your prize...

I agree with this.

As for your rant on the new version, Shan, the spell isn't centered on the caster. It's a targetable area.

Ohhhhh....

I misinterpreted, then. I apologize and retract my complaints. And thank you for allowing O his floating aquarium bubble.

Now, to make hue manatees terrifying and vengeful water commanding horrors of the sea.

Alright, we definitely have a staff consensus, so let's go forward. Just re-write the description, including the old text for Control Waters in the second paragraph rather than a reference to the spell, and post it here. Then we can approve it all officially and such.

The bold part is the changed section of the description.

Unfortunately, the iridescent properties of its hide can last after its death, so these creatures were almost hunted to extinction, the last few protected in special, sea druid guarded reserves.

The Hue Manatee can control a sphere of water up to sixty feet in diameter. If summoned outside of a large water source, it can conjure a great sphere of water around it as though it knew Flood. It will stay with its summoner for five posts before returning to its natural home, and cannot be summoned for another four posts.
