| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

She stood tall as elves normally do, as she gazed upon the open sea in front of her. She wore a long, flowing light blue dress that complimented her large white wings. The boots of elvenkind that she wore were only visible when she walked, since her dress was so long and dragged on the ground a bit even though it never seemed to get dirty. A backpack was slung over one shoulder, and she held her wand in the opposite hand. Her long, straight hair added to the elegance of her image. She needed to get to the Astendan Isles for some local herbs but had to wait for an escort first. She could have just flown there, but she didn't know exactly where the islands were and didn't want to get lost. The docks were fairly busy this morning, she suspected there must have been a great deal of imports or something to draw all these people out here. Or it could just be the norm. Lyvian didn't visit the docks very often. She watched patiently and in silence as some ships came and went, waiting for a ship that would help her get to the islands. A large white falcon flew down and perched on her shoulder with the backpack, as if holding the backpack straps for her. She was holding a sign which said she needed to get to the islands north of Taras, so she hoped that a sailor would notice her soon. |

Goby pulled at the rigging, subtly moving the sail as he approached Shephton Port. Tiny compared to the docks at, say, Taras and Striberg, it was one of several smaller coastal stops taking advantage of natural harbors that dotted the coastline of the Moonsea. He slowed as he approached, angling into an open spot, stopping a few yards away. Bare feet slapped against the deck as he sprinted from the sail to the railing, grabbing a coil of rope as he came within a few yards and leaping with it in hand onto the dock. With one hand, he deftly tied the rope to the pylon, the other already secured on his ship. He lept back over, furled his sail, and inspected everything once more, nodding in satisfaction. "Ship shape." No phrase was better created to describe everything being right and just so. Ship shape: the same shape as a ship. He disembarked from The Midnight Star, looking at the variety of people that gathered at ports. People laughed, yelled, and hawked in a wealth of languages, even at this small harbor. There were a pair of orcs sharing some joke, an Istani mercenary arguing with a halfling, a team of sailors with the light pallor of Striberg unloading their cargo, and... A winged elf. Goby forced himself not to stare, but it was a winged elf! One hardly ever saw them, and never at a place like this, since they could travel faster and freer on their own, but there she was, her hair loose and waving, as blue as the sky, watching the ships and the sea, her wings half folded but brilliant and white. He didn't want to stare, but he was going to pass right by her on his way to the market stalls. He couldn't just pass her by like she wasn't there, right? "G...Good day, miss," He said, giving a slight bow and a smile as he approached, intending to pass her and let her go about her day. A winged elf! This was already a grand day, wasn't it? |

She noticed The Midnight Star approach and dock, and watched the merchant, though made an effort to not stare when he approached. Much to her surprise, he greeted her. She smiled at him sweetly and responded, "It is a good day, Sir." She didn't want to miss her chance for a ride. "If I may, I have a question for you..." if he stopped, she'd continue on with her question, but if he kept walking then she would follow at his pace and still ask her question. "Do you know the way to the islands North of Taras? I believe they're called the... Astendan Isles? There is something there that I need, but I'm not sure how to get there... Do you mind giving me a lift? I hope I'm not disturbing any errands you need to do today, as I imagine ships only dock when they are in need of supplies. I don't mind waiting for you to complete your errands, as I'm not in a rush." She ended up saying a lot more than she anticipated, but at times she tended to be nervous about talking to strangers. In the past, it didn't exactly prove useful to her. She wanted to be careful this time around. "Oh, how rude of me-" she might have interrupted him if he already began to respond. "My name is Lyvian. I'm a healer in need of some rare herbs. It would be a delight to sail with you, if you don't mind. I've never travelled by ship before." she left it at that, and allowed him to respond to her already too detailed greeting. She was very patient with him no matter how much he stuttered or tripped over his words. She really didn't mind helping with his errands if he needed help, and she'd be just as happy waiting for him aboard his ship. The Avariel Elf was excited for this journey, but she learned at an early age that showing extreme emotions was useless. Elves are to remain calm at all times, despite what they're feeling. Especially the rare Avariel Elves, who (as she was raised to believe) were the most sophisticated and were highly respected. She had to meet those expectations, if not exceed them. (OOC: sorry it took so long to respond, I went on a little trip to visit family, but I'm back now :) ) |

"It is a good day, Sir," the elven woman said. Goby smiled. He always appreciated reciprocated kindness. He hoped she had a good day as he prepared to pass her. "If I may, I have a question for you..." "Oh?" Goby stopped and turned around. "Ah'm happy to help, if Ah can," He told her, nervous as he ensured his posture was good and working to not try and smooth his hair. It was windy, and his sun bleached locks would soon be mussed anyway. "Do you know the way to the islands North of Taras?" She asked him. "I believe they're called the... Astendan Isles? There is something there that I need, but I'm not sure how to get there..." Goby opened his mouth, about to offer her a look at his nautical maps and work out her course if she planned to fly to the islands, but she continued. "Do you mind giving me a lift? I hope I'm not disturbing any errands you need to do today, as I imagine ships only dock when they are in need of supplies. I don't mind waiting for you to complete your errands, as I'm not in a rush." "Ahh..." Goby managed to say. She needed a ride, which was why she was on the docks. But why his ship? There were bigger and nicer ships here. He wasn't about to question the good fortune that made her choose his ship, but it puzzled him. "Ah'd be happy to take yoo there," Goby said. "Ah know the Isles pretty well, and some of the folks that live there. Iffin yoo don't mind me getting some food, we can set out in the hour. Ahh, in fact," Goby realized, "If yoo wanna come with me, yoo can help pick out what to eat for supper. Heck, Ah'd even consider that your ferrying fee if yoo paid for it." He knew elves ate what everyone else did, but he didn't know if winged elves had some sort of dietary restrictions or taboo foods. If she came with him, he could ensure the menu had food she could eat. We can write out the shopping trip or you can fast forward to afterward, montage style. =D |
