| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

High above the moonsea, far above even where most airships went, sat a single winged figure, supported by nothing more than a single cloud. Seated on the edge of the cloud, she watched the world below her, several ships making their way towards the port nearby. And she thought, a slight frown ever present on her face as she did so. She was fundamentally... Bored, with everything. Had lost any sort of drive, vision... "Hrm, I wonder when that happened." About the time when you decided you wanted to be a better person, I would think. A voice, unwanted, irritating, popped into her head. Say what you will, but when you actually gave in to some of your desires, took what you wanted, damn the rest, things were a lot more interesting. In fact... You arguably aren't even doing well at not doing it now, you just do it for other people. And.. going from embracing my power to rejecting it completely hardly helped, now you aren't e- "I never said I wished to talk to you. Lylis. Please do stay silent for once." Focusing on listening till she was satisfied that for once, the demon had listened, Miriel sighed, and fell back, lying down, looking up at the sky. Unfortunately, she was right though would she ever be happy when it wasn't at the expense of others? Of course she could she could still be.... Nice. |

It felt good to be free again. For a while, she was afraid she'd be forced to be someone's healer slave for the rest of her life, but she was able to get away, thankfully, without getting anyone hurt in the process. There was nothing that terrified her more than being forced to harm others, or deliberately putting them into harm's way. Now that she didn't have to worry about that, she made a trip high into the clouds, where she expected to be alone for a while. She planned to avoid anyone that dressed in dark clothing, or anyone that was a male. They didn't seem to do her any good. High up above the moonsea, she flew gracefully under and over the clouds with her familiar Gyrfalcon and a smaller falcon that decided Lyvian was worthy of being followed. Lyvian was a rare Avariel Elf, which seemed to be high in ranks in the falcon community. As she flew so high in the sky, she noticed another person. She swooped herself quickly into a cloud that was higher up, and spied on her for a little bit as she tried to hide herself behind a cloud. A couple minutes passed, hoping the stranger wasn't talking to her. As she realized that the woman was not an immediate threat, Lyvian decided she'd float down to the cloud that the stranger was sitting on and try to make a new friend. "Beautiful day today, isn't it?" she enjoyed starting with small talk. It seemed to be much easier than asking a bunch of questions to get to know the person right off the bat. "Do you come here often?" she never thought of the clouds as a hang out spot. It was such a long flight up here, it didn't seem like it would be a daily visit. After a couple more moments, she did start to wonder about the woman's wings. Avariel Elves were nearly extinct now, so she didn't expect to ever get to meet one. Even she wasn't a pure Avariel anymore. If it wasn't for that wretched lycan, her hair would still be a beautiful pale blue, and she wouldn't endanger others when her temper got out of control either. Her wolf form was dainty and small, but she could still tear a full grown man's rib bones out, if her lycan instincts took over. She always did her best to avoid that type of situation. She wasn't able to sit on the clouds, but she was able to fly for extended periods of time, considering the fact that she was able to heal herself of any type of muscle pain. She made sure to keep a reasonable distance from the stranger's cloud so that she didn't whip it away from the thrust of her large, feathery wings. Nobody could tell that she was part lycan just by looking at her. She still appeared as though she were just an avariel elf. She waited patiently for the stranger's answer, and then introduced herself, "Oh, by the way my name is Lyvian. I hope I'm not interrupting anything." she smiled in a friendly way, just showing she was a kind person and didn't mean to startle her or cause any trouble. |

Miriel sat up again, and looked at Lyvian with a mixed expression of curiosity and apathy, mostly the latter. "Hello." She responded quietly, smiling slightly after deeming Lyvian non hostile. "I suppose one could say that, yes." she glanced out at the open sea, waves sparkling in the sun as a few birds flew about. "A bit quiet out here though, above the ocean, and so high." An angel? Perhaps, her spirit was certainly bright enough, but not all angels had elven traits to the degree this other woman seemed to. Another Avariel though, now that had the potential to be... Interesting, and far less dangerous than a angel at that. No, almost definitely an Avariel, Miriel decided. "How might you be faring today, might I ask? It is not often that one gets company in such a secluded area." A slight smile briefly graced her lips before fading just as quickly as she raised an inquiring eyebrow at Lyvian. |

When the woman didn't make any harmful moves or expressions, Lyvian kept her smile, glad that she was open to talking. She was excited to have met a nice person so soon in her travels. "I'm doing very well, thanks. I just recently got away from somebody who turned out to be quite rude and controlling, so I wanted to find a secluded place where nobody could harm me. I'm so glad I found you though, it's nice having somebody to talk to." The two falcons that were following her kept making circles below them as they waited. Once in a while, one of them would land on her shoulder to rest its wings. The falcons were not very large birds, so it didn't bother Lyvian too much. She was just glad that they took a rest when they needed one. "What are you up to out here?" she returned the question. "There must be more fun things to do than sit and watch the world go by...? Although I must say, it is a very relaxing scene. If only I could sit on the clouds like you, I'd be up here all day." Before she could tell the gyrfalcon not to, he swooped up behind the stranger and sat on her shoulder. "Arjun, no! I'm terribly sorry... just gently push his head away from you and he should get off." she made an unimpressed facial expression directed to the gyrfalcon, and returned to a smile once Arjun leapt off her shoulder, or if the woman said it was ok. She sighed in relief if she didn't get really upset about it, and then said, "I'm sorry if I'm being too intrusive.. but I must ask.. are you an Avariel Elf?" her expression now looked hopeful. She thought it would be such an honour to finally meet another Avariel. |

Just before the falcon landed on Miriels shoulder, she moved subtly to the side, not even glancing at the creature as she did so. The bird found itself tumbling through the air and down into the cloud before it could regain its balance and soar back upwards, but it would probably be inclined to keep its distance after even near-contact as opposed to actual contact; Most animals didn't really like Miriel much, even birds. "I am merely thinking in a place where I am unlikely to be disturbed. Personal matters, meditation..." she paused, and let a corner of her lip turn upwards for a moment. "So on and so forth. A variety of reasons really." And there was the question that confirmed Miriels suspicions in regards to Lyvian. She looked pensive. Hrm, WAS she still really an Avariel? Other than the wings, she had overwritten a lot of her species traits purposefully... Her bones were not merely no longer hollow, they were as dense and durable as a dragons. Really the fact that she could still fly was almost entirely due to magic. Then there was the whole, technically around half demon thing. "Yes. I am." It was simpler than the full truth, and far less likely to scare Lyvian off to boot. "I will assume that you are as well. Interesting, you are the second Avariel I have met in Imythess that I have met. That said, if we ever meet again somewhere more public, please do not be surprised if I look closer to a more.. Landbound elf. I prefer not to attract attention, and being part of a species near extinct in the area does not particularly help with that." |
