| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

1: If I remember correctly, the new plating isn't considered Masterwork or Masterworkable, is it? 2: How does the transition from old Kraken Tentacles to new Kraken Tentacles work? Again, if I remember correctly this project was highly against grandfathering in. Am I going to be forced to choose between the bubble, the tentacles or the ink? 3: And what about my ballistae? Is masterwork for siege weapons still a thing or will I have to list the masterworking costs in my refund sales topic when it gets posted? 4: And my ammunition for the ballistae I have. What of them? Do I need to get rid of them as well or do they appear in the ranged weapons shop, now? Do I still get my grappling bolts? 5: What about Large Ships? What do they get upgraded to? If it's Ship of the Line (to keep with pricing), then what about the Ironclad Galleys? 6: "In front of the main mast, the ship mounts a heavy weapon that can fire in a two hundred and seventy degree radius facing forwards." Does this mean that the Ship of the Line comes with a free weapon, or is this just another slot where a weapon can be added? If this is a weapon which comes free, then what kind of weapon is it? If not, then does this mean that the fore of the ship gets 3 weapon slots? 7: What do Mana Cannons count as in terms of Siege Weaponry? Would they require a Utility slot or a regular Weapon slot? 8: Regarding the Kraken Bubble, 5 posts seems like a rather strange way to measure time given the nature of RPs. Does this mean it could last anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 days? 9: Given the transition from old shop to new, how many Kraken Tentacles could I be allotted if I were to choose them? 10:
Is this indicating that the Krakenhead will no longer speak or acknowledge anything else that speaks with it? Edited by Buddy, Fri Aug 9, 2013 3:43 am.

I will try to answer a few of these questions. 1 & 3) Yes there is no masterwork for plating anymore or any ship part. I would count master working as part of the old item cost. The refund equation would be "old item cost + masterworking - new item cost = refund" 2)In most cases you usually have all functions of the item when it transferred in the new form. As long as your ship can hold it you can put in the new version of the items. You would have the figure head, the ink-sack, bubble, and at least one tentacle addon. Note: I would say you would have to pay the extra 100g to the ink sack in a heavy slot as that adds a new ability not in the old item. Also note that I am not sure how many tentacles you will have out of the upgrade as the cost difference is fairly big. I would like to discuss this ruling with the other mods first. 4) There is no ammunition in the new shop, so I believe you will just have put those items up for a refund. 5) For ship exchanges I would say as long as the cost is the same or less you may exchange your old ship for one of the new ship types. As for Ironclads that is a PRC ship and I have no clear ruling for you on that yet. A staff member will get back to you as soon as we have a decision for you. 6) This is simply flavor text describing where one of the Heavy Armaments can be placed. In other words this is where the one Heavy Weapon Mount is on the ship. It also is describing the general range that a weapon placed in that mount would have. 7)Mana Canon was not designed for ships or this shop. This would probably fall under staff requests and we would have to discus it and figure out a good compromise. My personal guess is it would probably end up using a Heavy Weapon Mount as it is quite powerful. 8) The post limit is most often needed in PvP fights where a mod is asked for a ruling. In such cases it is easier for a mod to judge things by something like number posts than actual in game time in the RP. Outside of PvP just role play it reasonably and there shouldn't be a problem. 9) In the new shop you may have up to a maximum of 8 tentacle addons or up to the maximum weapon slots on your ship, which ever is lower. 10) I would rule it could talk to others verbally. I see no reason why it could not. The telepathic part would only be to you though. Edited by redfiver, Fri Aug 9, 2013 9:50 am.

Question 11: Regarding the heavy siege weapons. The way they're worded confuses me some. Do Heavy Siege Weapons take up a weapon slot and a utility slot, or just a utility slot, or does only the Siege and Ship of the Line get a heavy siege weapon? |

All the Heavy Armaments require 1 heavy weapon slot to put on your ship. I believe 'utility mount' was just a wording from before we had 'heavy weapon slots' that didn't get changed. -goes to fix that- |

Oh wow. So the Ship of the Line, the biggest ship, really only does get one heavy siege weapon slot, doesn't it? Ouch. So much for that being a mobile fortress. |

Yes we were actually trying to avoid having mobile fortresses in this update as it isn't very fun to fight that sort of ship in game for other characters. Also you mentioned in the LC suggestion thread that you were planning out a ship. If you could list all the componnents of the ship and how they were going to work together here I could help you work on updating your plans for the new system. It may not be a floating fortress, but I am sure we can at least come up with something that works for you. I ask to do this here as I don't want to clutter what is a simple opinion poll in the suggestion forum. |

From what's been said so far, the biggest problem with my ship design as it currently is remains the post-time-limit, of which I loathe. Short stories being a pretty cool part of Imythess, there's no telling how something like a post limit on just about anything works in that setting. |
