Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Three Way Fight To The Finish [Tourney, P]; Tournament Final Round - Hong and Ronaha

Krent Almen, Kensei of Choer, was in the finals of the tournament he had signed up for. He had been given a free pass to the finals after only one victory, while it did irk him a bit, he accepted it as good fortune, no matter how much he wanted to fight. He had come to the finals in his best purple martial arts uniform, his shiniest black shoes, and finally... fully armed. On his back was a massive blade, easily five feet of steel and almost as broad as he was, and slanting over that was a double sided trident, the two trident ends were covered in a black smog, making it harder to tell how long the steel heads were. He took the spear from his back as the others arrived in the arena.

The arena itself wasn't... terrible, but still pretty bad, metal scaffolding, rust, damaged wood, it hardly seemed like there was a single thing in good condition. Krent bowed to his two new adversaries and introduced him, "I am Krent Almen! Kensei of Choer! It is an honor to fight you two, let us fight with honor and a Burning Spirit!" The last two words erupted from his mouth with enough passion to turn his cheeks slightly red. He took up his double trident as he looked around for advantages in the central room, he saw plenty of scaffolding that went up towards the ceiling... but with his weapons that would be ridiculous, he would have to make it a ground battle... or make them suffer for trying to go up and out of his reach.

Hong was excited to have made it this far into the tournament, but she knew that now, she was even less of a match against her competitors. The tests of skill and smarts was brutal, and she almost didn't make it our of her last fight alive. Eager, though, to be done with the whole ordeal, she made her way into the central room of the Relic Tower, the setting that would witness her next dramatic fight.

She wasn't excited about having two opponents this time around. She could barely manage to keep track of one opponent in the last two rounds. Having to do so doubly only worried her further. She just hoped that perhaps she'd be the least of the other two combatants' worries, and they'd aim for one another and leave Bao Kuai to fight only when one was left - and worse for the wear.

As she settled into her starting position, one of her two opponents spoke. She returned his bow. She was glad to have had him act first. For the last two rounds, it seemed that Bao Kuai had chosen the wrong course of beginning the fight. "I am Professor Hong. An honor, indeed." She gave a meek grin to the man, and then a slight bow to the other that was there.

Krent couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as the third fighter walked out of the arena... leaving only Krent Almen and Professor Hong. Krent readied his double sided trident and tried to think of a battle plan... but soon dismissed that notion and decided he would do what he always did... attack with a Burning Spirit. He choked up on the trident and began to charge, hoping that his speed would surprise his foe. Just before thrusting his double sided trident at Hong, he brought one hand back towards the center, giving it a quick twist to separate it into two tridents connected by a length of chain in the middle. He brought one end straight at her stomach, while the other in his left hand went for her right leg.

After that he brought them back, swinging them up at her neck, he knew the trident wasn't bladed yet, but he knew getting smacked with the haft of a weapon still hurt. He kept on the basic swinging, a simple left right swinging combination, but to end it he brought one up to stab at her throat, while his other trident struck out at her left arm. Krent grinned and laughed as he felt his blood boil, words sprang from his mouth as he grinned wildly, "Yes! I can feel the Burning Spirit! Now come Hong! Make this interesting!"

((OOC: Master Polearm for trident attacks, Natural Haste buff from level 1 RB, and my double trident 'Spring Zephyr' has been turned into two short hafted tridents.))

Krent charged with a vigor she hadn't expected from someone who looked so old. His talk of Burning Spirit seemed to be more of a mind over matter thing. When he raised his weapon and separated it into two, the strike to her stomach came as an utter surprise. Her stance faltered, not having been set for an attack, and she stumbled back a few feet, the trident striking her right shin mercilessly. Seeing that Krent was continuing his assault, Bao Kuai made a snap decision, needing to put space between herself and this warrior.

Her body glowed, and in a blinding flash of light, she disappeared, a strip of light quickly fading from where she had once stood. On a a few floors above, a strip of light materialized as Bao Kuai vanished from sight. She blinked into existence and quickly reached to her side. She passed her hands over her chakrams, giving herself a mental shake of the head. She grabbed her wand, and grinned devilishly.

Bao Kuai stepped through the room, looking for a good place to see down below from between the huge gaps that littered the structure. She found a suitable gap, and recited an incantation, empowering her spell as she pointed her wand and shot a Solar Burst down at the floor below. She knew that he was fast, she had witnessed that herself. But even speed couldn't save you from a collapsing roof, and the huge explosion that would cause it.

Krent watched her disappear in a flash of light, his thoughts raced as he wondered if she was still in the area... invisible... or had even teleported away. He widened his stance to allow better maneuverability, slowly turning around and looking over his shoulder as needed, that was when he saw the blast of light coming straight at him. He growled as he dropped his spears, drawing his blade, it was easily as broad as he was, but it would make a poor shield, which is why it was time to take flight. He thrust the blade in the ground and gave it the mental command to extend, shooting him an extra fourteen feet into the air. He jumped from his blade onto nearby scaffolding, only to start leaping and climbing higher as the explosion below him started collapse all of the nearby scaffolding.

He ran and jumped, leaped and tumbled across the metal scaffolding, showing physical strength and acrobatic skills far beyond a man of his age should have. Of course the blast would soon catch up, it was constantly on his heels until he made a short dive through a doorway a floor or so up. Krent sighed in relief grumbled to himself, "Bah, cowardly mages, using magic instead of fists. Now I'm forced to fight with my fists alone once again." He looked across at Hong and shouted, "Coward! Wait there and fight me fairly, or are all mages truly such brittle things that they can't even take a punch?" With that he turned and started to walk away, down another corridor to try and find a way around to his foe.

((OOC: Lightning Reflexes, Haste Buff from RB, Master Acrobatics and Master Athletics for escaping the explosion.))

Bao Kuai's heart raced as she felt the tower shake as her Solar Burst erupted a few floors below her. She had known that the explosion would be grand, but she hadn't intended for it to be as powerful as it had. It blew the walls clear from the room below her which connected directly to the main Chamber Krent was in. What was left of the ceiling of that room - and thus the floor of the room above it and below her -, too, was blasted from its delicate arrangement, causing a rain of debris in the area. Through one of the cracks in the wall, however, Bao Kuai saw Krent jumping from scaffolding to scaffolding, gracefully and quickly staying out of the spell's reach. Her jaw dropped as she saw him masterfully pounce through one of the holes in the walls of a room on the main chamber's side opposite of where she had retreated. As he called out to her, she remained calm, refusing to answer.

In the last fight, Aeyliea had gotten into her head by making remarks of much the same nature - something which Bao Kuai had reassured herself she would not let happen again. She squatted, laying a hand upon the room's wall that was opposite the side the main chamber sprawled. A light burst from her palm, marking the spot with her glyph. Content with her trap, she ducked out of the room through one of its two doors, making her way away from the direction from which Krent was heading. She knew she'd have to face him eventually, but she was hoping that she'd be able to keep him far enough away long enough that she could gather the mana for another spell, or injure him first with the trap glyph she had laid down.

As she circled around, she willed her bones to sprout the blessing Chang'e had given her all those years ago. Her collar bones rose up several inches, the bone protecting her neck from beheading. Long, inch-thick protrusions sprouted from her elbows, growing backward to provide cover to the backs of her upper arms. From her spine sprouted twelve pairs of bone, each 6 inches long and following the curve of her back. Krent had no weapon on him, Bao Kuai could see. That didn't mean that he couldn't have one on him in the blink of an eye, however. Bao Kuai's own weapons could fly back to her when she called to them, so she wouldn't let herself be taken off-guard in that instance.

Krent went from a walk to a run... he would need to chase the mage down and beat her with his fists. He ran and he ran, through rooms and halls... and found himself lost... he had no head for directions and was known to get lost in an open field, but this was ridiculous. He would need to just try trial and error until he found his foe. He walked through the nearest door and looked at the shabby room, the stones had sunlight pouring through their cracks, some of the wood beneath his feet was loose... and worst of all he could see through... the floor boards. He grinned as he turned around, searching for a set of stairs.

It only took him a few moments to find a set on the other side of the room. He quickly ran to them... but walked up them, he didn't want his foe to know he was going to strike from above. He grinned as he made it to the top of the stairs... he began looking through the cracks in the floors as he walked, keeping low to distribute his weight evenly, but the tell tale creaks of his footsteps could still be heard.

He walked for almost a minute before saw his foe... bones were now protruding from her body and she now seemed freakish, perhaps now she was ready to fight with Burning Spirit. He felt the adrenaline flood his veins as he went to the nearest wall, ripping out a loose stone with nothing but his bare hands. He felt small cuts and nicks, but knew it wasn't going to stop him. He raised it over his head and brought the stone down... shattering the wooden floor above his foe. Krent dropped down into a roll, hopping out into a jumping kick at Hong's chin. Krent laughed as he slammed his foot into the ground, cracking the floorboards beneath, swinging his body around for a full body kick to her head as he shouted, "Feel my Burning Spirit!"

(OOC: RB Reckless Abandon. Krent has One additional post of Bull's Strength and Master Athletics and Master Acrobatics for the fall. Also just clarifying the edit was to put 'Master' before Athletics and Acrobatics since I forgot to state what level I had them at.))

Bao Kuai kept walking as Krent made his way around the outer rooms of the inner chamber. He reached the floor above Bao Kuai, leaving her slightly confused as to his plan. She stopped and stood still, listening to the creaking footsteps from the floors above. Occasionally, she'd catch a glimpse of him here or there. He was still obviously making his way towards Bao Kuai, but what he was doing on the floor above her, she wasn't sure. Unless, of course, he planned on doing the same thing she had just done. use the frailty of the structure to attack from above.

As Krent stopped above Bao Kuai, she frowned, holding her wand up at the ready as Krent did something above her that made a loud noise, causing small pieces of rubble to trickle from a wall and onto the floor, a few small pieces falling through the cracks. In the next instant, Krent himself had exploded through the ceiling, a rolling with the fall and springing from the floor with his foot leading. Bao Kuai quickly brought up her hands, crossing them in front of her face just in time to block the kick. The force of the kick caused her hands to spring back and slap her in the face, a fact that would have bothered her if it wasn't for the fact that it stopped the real attack from dislocation her jaw.

Before Bao Kuai had a moment's notice to react, another kick was coming in square for her head. She tried to raise a hand to block it, but instead found only shin hitting her forearm, the brunt of the kick from the foot still landing squarely against the left side of her head. The sudden pressure from the kick caused the pressure of the air inside Bao Kuai's ear to increase, busting her eardrum. She quickly took a step back away from the kickboxing old man, blood starting to slowly drip from her injured ear. Bao Kuai glared at the old man, her eyes flashing with a light rivaling that of the sun. Almost instantly, little specks of light started littering the air around her. At first there were only a couple, but their frequency seemed to grow exponentially, until the entire ten-foot area around Bao Kuai was dotted with little floating spheres of light.

Almost satisfied, she raised her wand, waving it in an intricate gesture in the air as she chanted in Haunian. "Da Ri Huo!" she yelled at last, bringing the wand down to right in front of her, pointed at Krent as another large Solar Burst sprung from the wand's tip.

Krent was satisfied with his strikes, taking a second to adjust his stance for the next assault... that was until the woman retreated and summoned a field of flying balls of light. Krent didn't know what they were, what they could do, or when they could do whatever they did, so he would just charge through them. He put up his arms in a guard crossing his mouth, meaning to protect his face as he tucked in his chin to protect his throat. He rushed through and felt the pain as the little balls of light exploded, he felt the heat from them and the concussive force, it hurt, it was as if he was being pelted by tiny orbs of exploding fire. His clothes were being shredded... and just as he made it half way through the field... a sphere of light shot at him, it was to close to dodge, to sudden, all he could do was grit his teeth and hope for the best.

The resulting explosion not only sent Krent backwards, but collapsed the floor beneath them, and the the ceiling above them. Krent let out a shout of pain as he fell, the sphere of light had burned him terribly, his skin was burnt, parts of his flesh were melted, and worst of all... his hair and mustache... they were damaged. His ponytail was gone, patches of his hair were missing, and his mustache had been incinerated. He landed with a thud, his back hitting debris that covered the floor. He groaned as he laid there, he slowly brought his head up, pain racking his form as he looked over it. He looked to his left arm, finding a nail sticking nearly a half inch out of his forearm. All he could do was grit his teeth as he slowly sat up, pulling the nail out from where it had entered. He looked at the broken boards and stood up, picking out wood splinters where he could, but for the most part he wasn't broken, just lots of nicks, cuts, and splinters.

He looked across the area and saw Hong... among the scattered dust and debris, he tried to rush her, but felt pain in his right leg, he looked down and pulled a two inch sliver of wood from his ankle, it could barely move or support his weight, he needed to end the fight now, but his only weapon... were his elbows, knees, and right fist. He ran and hobbled as fast as he could at his foe, not stopping at striking distance, but trying to get even closer, he sent a right elbow at his foe's wand wielding arm, but this strike was infused with the power of winter, it would slow any body part that got hit by it, and the slower the wand moved the better. After that he sent a right knee strike at his foe's stomach, while the ankle was useless for kicks, the knee was still in fine condition, but when his foot hit the ground, hit let out a hiss of pain and flinched, but he wasn't done yet, his final strike allowed him to focus his ki into the edge of his hand, a way to cut someone without a blade, even if it was only a cut similar to being hit by a whip, it would be enough. He brought his right arm back, aiming the chop at her neck, just below the jaw.

((OOC: Krent has Endurance and Fast Recovery to help with the fall and the Starfield. Used White Fang Strike with the elbow strike and Hands Like Knives for the final chop.))
